It depends on how you look at it I guess. When I was doing well at the meetings they would try and encourage me, but if I was having a hard time they would let me have it. Kind of the opposite of how it should have worked.

i know there's a lot of elder bashing here.
most of it is quite justified.
i'm curious as to whether all your dealings with the elders were horrible.

well - this is my first post.
i want to express my gratitude to all of you in jwd land for the help you provide.
i'd be glad to relate stories, and experiences in the future, but wanted to introduce myself first.
Hey, nice to meet you. Welcome.
Dustin
so ive been a witness my whole life and i hate it.
i believe its effed up my life.
no sports, no extracurricular activities, small amount of friends, and im like totally innocent compared to my friends i have now.
Barney, dude I wasn't going to say anything like that.
Anyways, weight has nothing to do with a girl being cool or not. I just hope you find somebody fun man. Think about your future, and the meetings though.

Crizlee, are you still planning on going to meetings after highschool? If you are, you should take a serious look at why. College is in your future man. Wild times, hot chicks, and lots of time to make good friends. Why waste your time with false religion like I did? Look out for what's best for you my man.
Good call on the fat chick man. Although, you do know what they say about that right? If not I'll PM you that info.
Dustin
life sucks and then...
Nina, I wish I would have had people like you around when I was younger. Thanks for going the extra mile on that situation. It shows what a truly wonderful and caring person you are.
And just a thought, "no matter how bad it seems tommorow is always another day".
Dustin
typically, what life does a jw lead?
witnesses relish the thought that they are "different" from the rest of the "world"......how so???
?
You grow up only to realize you did it all for nothing. It leaves you feeling broken, hateful, and betrayed. It also makes you long for the past only to realize you can't change it. Then you get even angrier, and then one day you just break down because you hate what you were, what you are, and want to become a normal person with normal memories and friends. Then you find a website that is home to those just like you. You meet some great new friends, and slowly start taking back your life. Then eventually you start to find what you wanted all along.
Isn't the internet great?

Good luck dude. I hope you find somebody. Are you still trying to be a good little JW? My suggestion is find the crazy, fun girl and live a little. That's what I wish I would have done. Go get some prom date action. You only live once. Just make sure to bring a raincoat.
Dustin
i know i come on here a lot and laugh at the crazy stuff i used to believe.. it's a terrific place to vent my frustration at the org.
and share experiences with people who understand.
but i find that when some people trash talk witnesses who were never part of it i end up sort of defending them usually.
I just say it's a form of mind control. I usually also say the governing body is a bunch of dellusional jerks.
Dustin
i spent the week-end putting this together.
what a waste of time !!!
imagine telling an elder that you didn't go out in the field service on saturday morning because you wanted to finish your puzzle..... poor elder would die of a heart attack.
Perry, you have an awesome sense of humor.
Dustin
i know someone who is getting married and i am amazed how much money she spent.
she is a student and works part-time and if she's lucky makes $650 a month.
her fiance has a full time job but it goes for bills.
I can tell you that $3000 dollars will get you one hell of a Vegas wedding. You might even make the money back...if you're lucky.
