Typically, what life does a JW lead? Witnesses relish the thought that they are "different" from the rest of the "world"......How so????

A life filled with false hope, unrealistic expectations, and one day they might even open up to face the reality of utter dissapointment.

You grew up having a crappy childhood. You didn't gain any job skill, instead, in your youth, you went out in FS and started working at a retail store. 30 years later, you are working somewhere else, making about 5$ more than what you started working at when you are young. You go out in service when you can, but this is never good enough for the CO. You are drowning in debt and you are still waiting for the end to come, still waiting, yet faithful to Jehovah.

    How's that?

Guilt, guilt, and then a bit more guilt. Then some back-handed praise for what you are doing, with a good smattering of guilt over not doing more.

A CO (Gary Carey, my favorite CO ever) once told me that he sometimes feels depressed and thinks, "I'm a CIRCUIT OVERSEER, what could I possibly have to be depressed over?" Now I can answer his question. His humanity is constantly set aside so he can allow people to be shunned by their parents and children over trivialities. He has to assemble appeal committees to uphold the DF'ing of people that are clearly TRYING to serve God. He has to regularly stand up in front of single mothers with 5 kids and tell them, "Do more, do more." No wonder he gets depressed. And the thing is, he's such a good guy. I hope he gets out someday.

Witnesses can't date unless they're ready for marriage. Dating is not a game or recreation. An "of age" JW may not be "qualified" to date.
