E-mail from friend alerting me to emergency instruction from GB

here's a paragraph from a friend who is active.

they say it's important that we fill out this form about emergencies... poor fools.

"hi, i have been meaning to tell you that the society is telling us to fill out an emergency form that the book study conductors have and return it to them in case of an emergency.they will then give us a brochure to have that will tell us where to meet and what to have in our bags so we can grab them and leave in a hurry.

I also asked if the rather large assembly hall in a city abut 30 miles from here could be used as a place for victims and he said no the wts is not providing any shelters.

Wasn't there a letter to the congregations that said that Kingdom Halls should never be used in an emergency? Something about insurance? You'd think Jehovah would protect the Kingdom Hall from storm damage. I find it appalling that they don't use the KHs as shelters. Even if they don't want the KH tainted by worldly people and evil apostates they could at least let the JWs go there.

When I was a kid I was always told that we would be able to hide in the Kingdom Hall during Armageddon. In fact, one brother told me that the KH didn't have windows so that we wouldn't have to look at the horrible destruction and dead bodies at Armageddon. So where are the Witnesses supposed to go now? Or is it just every man for himself?

our co came galloping into town this week.

in his tuesday talk, these were his comments (not word for word, but more or less):.

"i imagine one of the biggest problems in your territory is not-at-homes.

Keep people out of the homes, so they can't hear our message.

If the message is SOOO important for everyone to hear why don't they go on the radio or get a TV show? Not that I want JWs polluting the airwaves but it's just asinine to realize that you have a problem and instead of finding a solution for the problem you just keep doing the same old thing and blame Satan for your poor results. Dinah's right, they give Satan WAY too much credit.

Mr. Flippers Son Gets Latest Letter from Witness Mother- He Does Not Reply

well , my son got the latest, i think last letter for awhile, hopefully from his witness mother .

of course she put lots of guilt on him again about not being a witness !

It frightens me to wonder , with your hatred for God's people , if you had the chance, would you have interrupted our study of God's word with this woman ? Even stopping your sister and your mother from sharing His wonderful truths from the Bible , that you so seem to hate .

My goodness! It's almost as if she's implying that your son is capable of committing some violent act simply because he disagrees with her religion. Just because someone disagrees with you or your beliefs doesn't mean that they hate you or are out to persecute you. It's just sad to see someone so narrow-minded and brainwashed.

I'm glad that you and your wife are supportive of your son but, I know how hurtful these letters can be. Please give him an extra hug from me.

Canadian girl murdered by father - she did not wear her hijab.

friends and classmates of a 16-year-old girl who police say was murdered by her devout muslim father in a toronto suburb told local media tuesday she was killed for not wearing a hijab.

police said in a statement they received an emergency call at 7:55 am local time monday from "a man who indicated that he had just killed his daughter.

the victim, aqsa parvez, was "rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but tragically passed away late last night.

This happened just blocks away from a work project that we just finished. It's sobering to think that on any given day I could have been standing in line next to this girl at the Tim Horton's.

According to news reports the father was a cab driver. They lived in a part of Mississauga that's not very nice. Low income, high number of immigrants and quite a bit of crime. In fact, we jokingly referred to it as the armpit of the GTA. Our job site was vandalized several times and on one occasion someone nearly ripped the door off of the high security trailer that I had my lab set up in. We never left anything of high value there overnight. Whatever the reason for this girl's tragic death, it doesn't surprise me that it happened in this neighbourhood.

As far as Islam goes, don't even get me started. I know several people that have done humanitarian aid and/or ministry in Muslim nations and the stories I hear from them bring me to tears. What we as ex-JWs go through is a walk in the park compared to what people in Muslim nations have to endure if they choose to leave Islam. And from what I hear there are many that are leaving. Unfortunately, those poor souls end up being beaten, jailed, fired from jobs, lose their homes, tortured and in many cases killed. I'll take a shunning any day over that.

I got back from vacation and had 15 cards waiting for me!!! That was so awesome. I was grinning like a Cheshire cat.

Accidentally Hit Animals with Cars ? A Problem in Rural areas-Experiences?

so, hello folks.

i have wanted to start this thread for sometime because i was curious if it has happened to any of you often.

in the last 10 years or so it seemed that deer were attracted to my trucks like magnets .

My cousin was driving through the mountains and had a deer jump down ON TOP of his car.

I almost hit a deer once. It was pretty scary. My husband went out and bought me one of those deer alert whistle things that you put under your bumper and nothing has jumped out in front of me since. You might want to check it out. I think we got ours at Wal-Mart and it was only a few bucks.

Yesterday, I mailed all the international and the US cards yesterday. I will mail the Canada cards when I get back on Tuesday.

In case anyone is confused, I have a Canadian return address on the cards but I mailed them from Florida. Nothing weird is going on, I'm just vacationing and had some spare time.

I just got a new puppy so anything to do with dogs. - A friend of mine showed me her Dog "Baby Book" - It's like the books you fill out for your newborn baby except it's for your dog. I want one of those but I have no idea where to find one.

I'm Christian so, anything Christian oriented would be nice.

I've also been exchanging Christmas ornaments with friends, so I'm reminded of them every time I look at my tree. So a Christmas ornament would be cool.

Something that interests the sender would be nice and would remind me of them. I'm really not that picky and I would be happy with anything you send me, as long as it's not WT literature.

New Canadian here...What is Boxing Day all about?

can someone please explain to me what you are supposed to do on boxing day?

i keep hearing different things.

one person told me that i'm supposed to give baked goods to the neighbors, another told me to re-gift and another told me that i'm supposed to give presents to the mailman.

It's bad enough that I'm an ex-JW who has never celebrated holidays before without the Canadians are throwing new holidays at me every time I turn around.
