I have just begun reading this book by Howard K. Bloom and I have to say that just the first few pages are giving me a totally new way to look at things. It's mostly a book about the evolution of human morals and politics and religion but it goes a lot deeper. It concretely explains how we came to be who we are, personality wise, within society all using aspects of evolution to rationally explain itself. I'd suggest this book to everybody I meet.

many times you will find the greatest people you will ever meet being a jw but they will only love you and you can only love them as long as you're current condition or title is a jw.
i can garrentee you that this is one big reason why a lot of people do not leave.

Ya, that seems to be the best way togo about it. No easy way out of it. Just wonder if there's any way for me to keep some contact with the friends I have inside though. Hate the boundaries they enforce on it's members.

The one thing I hate most about the whole idealogy of the JW's is the ransom for your love they like to play on you. Many times you will find the greatest people you will ever meet being a JW but they will only love you and you can only love them as long as you're current condition or title is a JW. I can garrentee you that this is one big reason why a lot of people do not leave. It is just heart wrenching to know that you can only keep these people's love is to stay with this religion. Now the rational explanation is to just reason that if they truly loved you they would stick by you no matter what. Now this is true but it still doesn't sooth the pain of dozens of people that you would call your best friends having them your worse enemies.
I'm somewhat in this situation now. It is immpossible for me to live sane under this religion for more than 2 more years, yet it's just feels like your heart is being torn out every time you talk with folks that care about you (The JW you at least). Just wondering if you guys have any suggestions or advice or experiences to help me and other folks in this situation out.

I somewhat agree that the JW's have it closer than most religions (This being said by a person that doesn't really care to learn about other christian religions) but I don't know if that's all that great of a compliment. We all know how messed up the WTS is, that can't help the credibility of the bible all that much.

uh oh, not this parade defd. This just shows the general contradiction that many JW's have. They will accept anything that is proposed by the news that supports their end of the world claim, yet anything somewhat showing them to possibly be wrong they need to personally be an eyewitness in the situation. How do you know the london bombings weren't all a farce defd? Were you in them? See I can do it too. It's childish.

Extinguishing evil and pain
by greendawn insupposing that you were in god's position how would you deal with the basic issue of good and evil in the world, how would you deal with that part of mankind that refuse to stop hurting and harming their fellow humans and how would you finally extinguish evil and suffering?.
remember some people accuse god of being too soft and tolerent with evil doers while others accuse him of being too harsh and merciless.
a delicate balance is called for.

Thanks for explaining it for me jaffacake. Me personally, I have had enough of God for one life-time lol. Plus, the explainations proposed by theologians do accord with science, but that doesn't mean it's right. I can make a story that perfectly accords with science yet it doesn't make it anymore than a story. It's still in the realm of could, and as I said before this could be attitude isn't all that productive towards human kind. Ima look into that book though. I could never get anything non JW and religious through these doors but ill do some research about the book.
