Hard Headed.
by Daunt insince i've opened up to my parents more about how i really feel and think, i feel that it has become somewhat easier in some areas yet harder in others.
now that i've totally said that i do not believe in their religion and their pressuring me to be a part of it, they have been somewhat afraid to make me too angry at them.
i have stayed out late a few times with friends (not that they know i was with friends) and have come home to nervous grins and standoffish gestures.

Study in the Creator book.
by Daunt inafter my whole little ordeal with my parent's hearing about how i am atheist and the truth about how i feel about the truth, my dad suggested that we study later on the creator book ("is there a creator who cares about you?
") he has told me a few times that if i have any objections to it i can freely point them out.
well, at first i saw this to be the opportunity to do research, back track the numerable names that they drop in this book, and show the logical fallacies used to support the prevailing theme of intelligent design in the book.

The most monumental conversation with my mom and dad.
by Daunt inat the meeting today, me and my family were sitting in the back.
i've been heavily emotional lately because of the katrina disaster and my temper and sadness and all emotions have just been on a rise lately.
well my dad was noticing that i was frowning so my father got sort of angry with me and demanded that i stop.

Houstonians being affected by the Hurricane.
by Daunt infrom the different houstonians i talk to, many of them are showing some hostility towards the new orleans refugees.
many of my associates say that many businesses are being bought out and being replaced with new orlean ran businesses, and many other people worry about new orlean's crime history and how that would affect houston.
i'm trying to volunteer at the astrodome hopefully (parents are jws so everything volunteering for a group is terrible) but i was just wondering how other people felt about the raised emotions of the refugees from new orleans and how that will affect other people.

Appealing to our Fears.
by Daunt inappealing to fear is a classic logical fallacy that has been used to justify things from killing jews to preaching door to door.
an appeal to fear (also called argumentum ad metum or argumentum in terrorem) is a logical fallacy in which a person attempts to create support for their idea by playing on existing fears and prejudices.

The Lucipher's Principle.
by Daunt ini have just begun reading this book by howard k. bloom and i have to say that just the first few pages are giving me a totally new way to look at things.
it's mostly a book about the evolution of human morals and politics and religion but it goes a lot deeper.
it concretely explains how we came to be who we are, personality wise, within society all using aspects of evolution to rationally explain itself.
