as i read this board i notice that there are a lot of people that like myself don't believe in god anymore, and when i run accross a post where someone is professing their belief in god, that i have nothing but utter distain for them, almost like they don't belong here.

for a newbie that's kind of a ridiculous position i guess.

as i was growing it was constantly shoved down my throat that every other belief system was contlolled by the devil and run by his little demons, so after 1975 came and went and i realized that the one true religion was full of crap also, that left me with only reality to grasp, and that's, you live you die and the the worms eat you.

I do not intend to try to push my beliefs on anyone. Of course I believe they are right or I would not believe them. And, as you know Christianity requires that a believer try to teach others about the Christ, however there is a place and a time for everything and I do not consider this the place, at least, to 'preach'

I have enjoyed reading all of the posts that I actually have time to read, but it is not easy to see postings calling the One you love, worship and try to obey called every name imaginable and blamed for every wrong done on the earth. I understand that everyone should have the right to express their feelings and thoughts and so I have tried to avoid the things that offend me. I do however keep seeing postings that encourage believers to go away.

But, I think I have seen a lot more than 2 or 3 atheists here. Or maybe all of the ones here that say they do not believe in God do not think they are atheists.

I was born into a JW family. I believed the teachings of the WT for 54 years. I found out that I had been lied to. I did not decide that God was somehow tricking me and allowing me to be deceived all of my life by keeping me in a cult. I left the WT and examined Christianity. I am a believer in the God of the bible and I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.

I thought when I joined this forum it was for all types of JWs, ex-JWs, and others interested in the discussions here. I was not aware it was only for atheists. I have been giving that a lot of thought lately as the forum seems to be dominated by people who like to curse God and everyone who is a believer.

I am sorry that you have chosen to have no belief in God. I will not preach to you but I also do not agree with you.

i have learned a great deal, and what i've read has expanded my view.

I'm Scared

before i get started on what i'm afraid will be a lengthy post, i just want to say a few things.

this may not be the appropriate forum for me to post what i need to say, but i hope that all of you will be understanding and supportive of how i feel.

i've been lurking here for quite some time and have even been brave enough to make a few posts, so i feel somewhat comfortable expressing this here.. perhaps i should discuss my background a bit before getting to the heart of the matter so you all can understand where i'm coming from.. i am a late 20-something former jw, never disassociated myself but completely stopped attending meetings about four or five years ago.

When I left the WT I really felt alone. A few months later I went to an ex-jw convention in Pennsylvania where I met several hundred ex-jws. They were a great help to me. I would recommend that you (and anyone else) go. You will be welcome and loved whether you are JW, ex-JW, atheist, agnostic, or whatever. You will find love that you did not experience in the WT. Our American Flag

doesn't it feel good to not be a jw at this point in history?

through the fear of the last few days, i do have comfort from scripture about my eternal salvation through jesus (as a witness you never felt secure with god--don't miss a meeting or field service for long or you're out), but also because my husband and i can display our american flag on our cars and in front of our house to support our country!.

as americans, we will not stand for terrorism and i'm proud to be in this country.

I agree, just hanging the flag does not in itself prove anything, unless it is backed up with resolve and actions. Stay tuned!

Showing the American flag demonstrates to the world, and especially to the enemies of our country, that we stand together in unity as Americans. If you are really a JW the only unity you know is mind control.

LET'S MAKE A LITTLE WAGER

perhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.

as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.

since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.
