In response to an earlier posting that claimed this email ws full of BS because the tsunamis hit at 630 am that stated " I can tell you right now that this is total BS. The wave hit at 6:30AM local time. There are NO meetings anywhere at 6:30 AM." Your statements are inaccurate. The precipitating earthquake struck Banda Aceh at 758 am local time according to the Jakarta Post (http://www.thejakartapost.com/detailweekly.asp?fileid=20041227.@01) However...
Phuket, THailand was hit by three waves: at 8 am, 10 a, and 1pm (http://www.bangkokpost.com/271204_News/27Dec2004_news01.php) The largest of these hit at 10 am (http://www.nst.com.my/Current_News/NST/Friday/National/NST32193015.txt/Article/indexb_html)
The wave hit Sri Lanka at approx 930 am local time (http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/1228QuakeTrain28-ON.html)
Of course WItnesses around the world gather for meetings and service at between 9 am and 10 am. It is awful that the society implies htat witnesses will survive only if they are busy in spiritual activities. But the claim that many WItnesses were at the meeting, preparing for the meeting, or engaging in field service at the time of the tsunamis is accurate.
Before we accuse anyone of lying we should check the facts.

It is very possible that few if any witnesses were killed. These areas have very few witnesses. Ratio of Witnesses to non witnesses in these areas is anywhere from 1 to 5000 to alll the way to 0ne to 70000.
And Pierce I have also known many who suffered unjustly at the hands of the Society. I personally did not suffer that much. There are many, many individual Witnesses that I admire and love, but hte Organization I have no respect or love for. Check out the silentlambs sight. It is amazing.

Thanks, it's only been a couple of years, but I can't remeber the order of things...was it blood card (er, advance medical directive) then convention, or the other way around?

Some other lands are done the same way...Guadeloupe, Martinique, and French Guinea are all overseas territories of fFrance but are counted seperately. I am not sure of the reasoning for this, unless it has to do with geographical area, and wheter or not it is contiguous. Another for instance, Northern Ireland is counted in with the Ireland report although is is part of Britain politically.

WTS Cashes In On Tsunami
by ezekiel3 inin an informal announcement at service meetings this week (corroborated by the question box in the january 2005 our kingdom ministry, pg 7) jws interested in contributing to the asian tsunami disaster should contribute directly to the "worldwide work" (the general fund).. the entire article referenced above: .
what is the best way to make contributions for the benefit of needy brothers in other lands?.
at times, we hear about brothers in another land who have come into material need because of persecution, disaster, or other difficult circumstances.

THe Society response to this will be most interesting. Witnesses in general do only help their own and in htese lands there are very few witnesses compared to the general population. So will the society show real love of man by sending a large amount of relief? or will they ignore the disaster as few witnesses are likely affected?
