by FreePeace in.
i was doing some research for a novel i'm writing, and came across this article.
while i pride myself on being open minded, this one is just a bit over the edge without proof.. http://www.reptilianagenda.com/exp/e122299a.shtml.

Did you notice that they were a lot of "rich Witnesses" in the organization
by inquirer ini remember this guy once, after the book study (the one where you go to someone's house to study a book) boasting on this house he wanted to buy!
it made me feel sick!
he was showing off so much!

In my hometown, you had to be poor to be an elder. Anyone who had a regular job with steady income was seen as materialistic. In far SE Oklahoma at least, being financially stable is frowned upon. In Texarkana, where I was a MS, the elder body was made up of some well to do brothers and some extremely poor. My last cong, in Durant, has one prominewnt elder and a few "side" elders, if you will. He is well off and you could not be around him without hearing about his expensive vacations, his wife's sports car, their time share in Hawaii, their new rv, etc. His son and sone-in-law are the same way and are as elders as well. Very cold, very unloving, very hypocritical. until moving there, I never knew that a cong could be so unloving toward those in need.

Words you used instead of cussing
by JH inwitnesses must always have a clean and pure language to honor god, and must never cuss.
now imagine an elder accidentally hitting his finger with a hammer...
what words may he exclaim in this moment of pain?

I had friends that said "cornflakes.' If they stubbed their toe, they'd shout "cornflakes".

Have many become atheists who've left the Watchtower?
by The Leological One inthought i've never been a jw, my wife is, and she was df'd a couple months ago when we got married (we were together a short while before getting married).
sometimes it seems she still tries to defend jw doctrines... others, it seems she's about ready to accept the idea of some other views (protestant), and yet i've wondered at times when she says she doesn't know what to believe if she's about ready to forget religion altogether.
i'd prefer she keeps her faith in god but seek her understanding more from the bible than just from other people's doctrines -- esp.

I can so relate to those of you who say that you left because you were already an atheist. My experience is similar. I recall during my judicial committee meetings telling the elders that I just could not conceive of Jehovah as a real person. I never have been able to.
My general philosophy now acknowledges a creative force, but not a personal creator. It is shaped a lot by Taoism.

Is country music more approved than any other for a witness?
by wordlywife inmy husband has recently started listening almost exclusively to country.
occasionally we would listen to it before, but every time i get in a car he has driven or we are riding he has it on, when before we always had classic rock on.
i don't mind country music, but this recent change of listening habits in light of his having commenting priveledges back again makes me wonder if listening to anything but country is frowned upon by wt ordinances?

I think this just depends on where you live. In my area, all music was frowned upon. I have also been to get togethers where only Kingdom Melodies were played...or spiritual songs that individual witnesses wrote.
Of interest on that topic, one song that a sister claimed to have written herself and sang frquently at gatherings was called "jehovah-Jireh." My sister, who is now a non witness, was recently at a gospel singing at a baptist church. Guess what song she heard..thats right, the same version of Jehovah-Jireh.

My Elder Friend Got Announced As Being Deleted.....
by minimus infor going to my kid's wedding.
he was told he was not "serious", had no "self-control" and "did not work well with the body".

I recall that at one point, in the early 90s, they wanted to quit using the term deleted. They wanted to soften it up some. When I was removed as a ministerial servant in 1997, it was simply announced that "P.S. is no longer serving as a ministerial servant in the Texarkana Congregation."
Of course everyone knew what that meant. But, strangely enough, I was not treated any differently. I was privately reproved at the same time, but no one ever backed off from association with me.

How many "real friends" did you have in your congregation?
by JH inmost congregations have about 80 to 120 people.
out of that, how many could you consider being a "real friends"?
personally, not one of them was a "real friend".

I had some people that I really loved and that I thought really loved me. Of course it was dependant on me remaining a Witness...I still love them and would be there for them, but they have nothing to do with me. Very sad.

by AlmostAtheist injust got off the phone with the judicial committee, the same one that i blew off last sunday.
i wasn't even sure they'd call, but come to think of it, i think that's just what they're supposed to do if i don't show up.
they called as a conference call (none of them has been willing to talk to me on the phone alone!

Good luck! Hopefully your family will come around...or will at least be kind.
