Another current article mentions SUtcliffes' full beard.

the great fur debate has re-surfaced today with the news that nelson mandela wore a fur hat recently.
so here is the question would you ever wear real fur and are there moral implications here?

WHich leads me to ask, did you guys ever know anyone that thought we would go naked in the new world since Adam and Even were naked in the Garden? I have known several witnesses who believed this, although no one ever had the courage to say it from the platform.

Wow..that S.H.I.T announcement has been told about several different areas...
We once had a disfellowshipping announcement made after the concluding song. Our PO, who was severly lacking in people skills anyhow, ran the announcement and the concluidng remarks together:"This is to inform the congregation that T.W. has been disfellowshipped. Let's thank Jehovah."
so we have our circuit overseer this week.
we're getting the crap kicked out of us (figuratively) for our meeting attendance.
we have attendance in the 70% range for some of our meetings.
I recall giving a Public Talk at a hall in Texarkana. THe hall had been built in the 1980s and sat about 225 or or more. Once tha hall was built, the cong was split into two congs. But neither cong grew. So there were two congs, one with about 70 pubs and one with about 80. I gave a talk to the smaller cong in 1996. The meeting attendance was abyssmal (sp?). ANhow...we had 55 in attendance for my talk. So less than 25% of the seats were occuppied. It was very discouraging.
SInce then that hall has been remodeled. THe old corner platform was moved to being along one wall and the semi circle seating arrangement was replaces with straight rows. Seating was reduced to about 150. The whole back of the auditorium is now just an open space. The spin put on this is that it gives more room for fellowship...
i don't know if this is wt policy, but our hall had a policy of assigning bookstudy groups to clean the hall.
the few times my family actually showed up (along with anyone else) that the hall was always in a disgusting state, especially the bathroom.
the woman's washroom had the most revolting smell you could ever imagine.
The halls I went to were alwys very clean inside. THe hall at valliant would at times have a grown over lawn and the shrubs would need pruning. Some of the other halls in our circuit...notably Prescott, AR and Camden, AR ...had very unkempt lawns. It was disgraceful.

I love this. Myself and one of my sisters left before our other sister. I had not been to meetings in 1 1/2 years and Jody had not been in three years. Neither of us claimed to be witnesses but were not disfellowshipped. The elders in my sister's cong, about 70 miles away, heard from my Witness aunt that Jody and I were celebrating holidays and that I was gay. So they go to my other sister, Kay, and counsel her for associating with us, advise her that we are both guilty of apostasy and ask her to report any wrongdoing she knew of. She told them that if they wanted to know anything about us they could ask us themselves. Without two witness, Jody and I never were called before a committe and neither have been df'd. My oldest sister has since left also...she even attends church... so HAHA nosy elders!!

My boyfriend who never was a witness watche dhtis while I was at work. First thing he said to me was that he saw a part about Mrs. Jackson celebrating her birthday..."What's wrong with that picture" he aksed, knowing full well that I never celebrated when I was growing up. He siad they rationalized it by not wrapping the gifts, just brining then in brown paper bags. What a joke!
one time while out in service we saw some mormon's working the same territory.. the inevitable put-down comment was made that "they" only put in two years of "missionary" work in, then their church helps them financially to get "set" in the business world (bastards!).
unlike "us" (the dubs) who slave for the lord our whole life.
and get nothing (in this life).. so i started to do the math... if you just go strictly by "witness" standards of weights and measurements (counting "time"), here's what i came up with:.
