i really dont know but i have read both opinions on this forum.
many in my fam are in but we never talk about their religion, except when they invite me to some meeting, or the memorial, assembly etc.
Too bad Teresa Graves (aka Christi Love) is dead. She could do public service announcements where she'd utter such catch phrases as "It's the truth, sugar!"
Seriously, though, the org seems to have phases. Things will soften up for a while and then there will be a crackdown. But, more and more, individual witnesses just ignore what the org says. If everyone who disobeyed was disciplined per the socirty's dictates, there would be few elders, servants, pioneers, or even plain old publishers.

it seems clear now that the watchtower religion has already started to decline, in the western world at least.
how will this decline play out in the future - this is one of the most interesting questions relating to the watchtower at the moment: will the witnesses enjoy a slow leisurely decline over many decades, or can we expect a major split and disintegration in the near future?
I'd also suggest the Philippines and Denmark as potential break away areas. Also Eastern Europe. After the fall of communism, many witnesses left because they found the organization to be much too worldly.

my grandfather is an ms and i know for a fact that he is not the picture perfect jw.
he doesnt do anything wrong but he is no bastion of spirituality either.

i've noticed that they have been "flocking" to the org.
over the past few years especially.
I've known a few crazy witnesses. My fav was a tall gangly brother that was very creepy. He had a real hang up about sex and would confess to the service group that he had a problem with masturbation...he was in his fifties. He had also been sexually abused as a youth and discussed it frequently in comments. He also spoke of urges he had toward children. Once, after my sister came to visit, he told me that how attractive he found her, esp since she had children but had not developed wide hips or big breasts. Very creepy. My favorite comment of his ever was "The worldly saying is 'a hard penis has no conscience," but my soft one does."

Actually, it was because soem posters felt the need to post inflammatory statements. As offensive as they were, it made for spirited conversation.
And gay people love to talk....esp about themselves... HAHA

It is a great movie. I do find some of the character to be cliche. But it works. I give it an A. Great...but not a classic.
i was just watching a sit-com and someone made a reference to boxer briefs as being a sign a guy is gay.
i like boxer briefs!
they are the best of both worlds... a combination of boxers and briefs.
I wear boxers and my boyfriend wear briefs...so I don't guess boxerbriefs are particularly gay or we'd be wearing them.
They are hot as hell on the right guy tho

I agree with you. You have the right to speak your mind, if for no other reason than to give a dissenting view. And your question about people claiming to believe the Bible and yet accepting homosexuality is a valid one. I do not have the answer fot that. The problem is that instead of coming across as someone who truly wants an answer or a balanced discussion, you seem to just want to keep stirring shit up. For me, it just makes this topic more interesting. Other people, though, find your statements offensive and belittling. So lighten up a bit man.

Blondie makes some valid points. By the time my family baegan attending meeting in 1982 in Idabel OK, the cong was half black and half white. There were no obvious racial problems. The body of elders was 2 black, 2 white, 1 hispanic. The pioneer body and ministerial servants were also evenly distributed. But that was not always the case. Even though segregation required by the secualr authorities was well on its way out in the late 60s, the Idabel congregation was not integrated until like 1973 0r 74. The white congregation had a small KH, the black cong met in a home. The situation in many areas was the same.
But, again, by hte time we were witnesses, hte racism was much more subtle. It seemed to be a problem with individual witnsses rather than with whole congs.

reports from the italian capital, rome, say an armed man has threatened to blow himself up in a hall where around 2,000 members of the jehovah's witnesses church are holding a meeting.
I don't guess he was real happy about being disfellowshipped. or maybe he's just crazy.
