Can you imagine the crappy nielsen ratings that channel would get?? Of course there are a few diehards who watch nothing else..and no doubt the society would encourage the congregations to watch nothing else..

JW's - Satanic Cult or just wrong-headed religion?
by AK - Jeff inthe evils of the religion are well documented here and elsewhere - but does that prove to you that they are indeed 'satanic', under the direction of satan?
or are they just screwed up?

Considering that I still have many loved one trapped in the organization, it is hard for me to label it Satanic. Also, and I may draw some criticism for this, for all my complaints about the organization, there were parts of it I enjoyed and there were times in my life that it was just what I needed. Soo, not from Satan, just another misguided religion with power hungry, corrupt leaders and mainly well intentioned, sincere underlings.

WTS Has Lost +35% of Elders in US Since 1994????
by Seeker4 inzack, on another thread, said he heard this figure from the platform at both the 2006 elders' school and his recent pioneer school:.
that there were 93,000 elders in 1994, and less than 60,000 today, in the united states.. i thought these figures deserved their own thread, as they are shocking to me, and to see if anyone else has heard anything similar.. i'll post a link to the other thread as well.

My JW elderly aunt just called me..........
by Mulan inshe lives thousands of miles away from me, and called me now to tell me how much she loves me and misses me, and she started crying, and could hardly get out the words, about the wt study for tomorrow.
she begged me to go to the meeting and hear the information, so i compromised with her and told her i would get a copy of the magazine and read it.. i felt so badly for her.
we were always very close, and her daughter, my late cousin sharon, who died in 2001, was my closest friend in my life.

That's the hardest thing for me. I still love a lot of sincere witnesses. And I know that some of them love me too.
For what its worth, I think you are doing the right thing. Most of our issues are with an organization, not a sincere, beloved family member. Your act of kindness and compromise shows a truly Christian attitude.

None of the elders in my home cong are still there. Some have stepped down, some moved away, some were reproved. The did however ship in 2 elders from a neighboring a cong and appoint two ministerial servants as elder (one had been baptized 3 years, the other had been inactive for about 20 years and had only been reassociated for about 3 years), the two congregations in central OK where most of my witness family lives lost ALL of their elders due to disfellowshipping, removal, resignation, death and relocation. Other elders have been sent in to these congregations, but I believe they both only have 2 elders apiece, down from 6 apiece a few years ago.

Jehovah's Witnesses & "worldly" association (sad story)
by lovelylil intoday a jw friend of mine related this story to me.
she was at the park with a sister whose husband is an elder.
the elder's wife had their four year old son, an only child with her.

We weren't even allowed to play with half the witness kids in the congregation because they were "worldly witnesses" who didn't go in service enough, or wore "wild" clothes, or weren't publishers by the time they were 10 or because they listened to rock music or they were too competitve. It made for a lousy and lonely childhood. However, my parents started coming around a bit when I was in my teens. In fact, one of our local elders who had a son my age told my mom she was being too hard on me..at that point I quit getting whoopings, started getting an allowance and was even allowed to meet non witness classmates at football games as long as I came home as soon as the game was over..and, btw, I was a regular pioneer at the time

Prince and Lindsay Lohan Partying?
by wozadummy injust finished reading an article in the morning newspaper about lindsay lohan cheking herself into the wonderland centre for drug and alchohol rehab.. it is sad to see such a beautiful young person getting to need such services with so much of her life ahead.. but the part of the report that made me sit up and think was this, i quote........ "ms lohan was in hospital on january 3 for appendicitis but was seen out partying a couple of hours after she was discharged.. since, she has been seen out almost every night and on monday she attended prince's post golden-globes bash at the beverley wilshire hotel.
a fellow party goer said she obviously was the worse for wear.".
well i'm spewing over this and here are my questions then....... if prince is a jw what the hell is he doing organising a large function without the elders approval?.

He is following Pauls example of becoming all things to all people :) How else would Lindsay get to hear the truth??

My old KH had a personal visit from me today!
by moshe ini was on business in the area of my old congregation ( i live out of state)- the one i first got baptized in back in 1973. they were just getting started on their discussion before service- it was 9:03 am and i just impulsively turned into the parking lot and decided to pay them a surprise visit.
i just walked into the kh and looked at them for 30 seconds.
i didn't recognize anyone and finally they asked me what i wanted.

great..there are some really nice people in the org who just have no idea about how things are... I was one of them :)
The sad thing is, that in my heydey, I would have asked you to leave and escorted you out. Glad you found a more receptive repsponse!
