I think it is a combo of all three to be truely intelligent. If you have knowledge and don't know how to use it to interact in your world, what's the use? If you have no knowledge, how can you make informed decisions? If you don't use what knowledge whether academic or experience that you possess, then, how can you change to better yourself and adapt to your world? I had to laugh at the smartest people being socially inept because having to brothers with very high i.q.'s and little social skills, i see your point, however, i don't believe all of us are meant to master all areas of intelligence. I think history makes that pretty apparent. Some minds are built for great academic feats, like Einstein etc. Some for great humanitarian feats, like Mother Theresa. Intelligence is very individual and therefore difficult to decide. Some of the most intelligent people i have ever met have very little formal education but an innate ability to percieve and mold the knowledge that they do possess. I could never discuss quantum physics, but i consider myself intelligent. Am i wrong? Who cares. It's all relative anyway.

sounds like an invasion of this woman's human rights, she should contact such agencies in germany. I agree with flying high, no body should be forced into prostiution. How horrible. As for elsewhere, sounds like you may be hoping for such laws to pass in the u.s., let me guess, you are a man? To say that one is at no greater risk for sexually transmitted diseases via prostiution is foolish. Think about it, chances are if you are dating someone, you will use protection. What if your john refuses to wear it, and you need the money? I am sure all the children sold into prositiution in many 3rd world countries would disagree with you. I highly doubt that those 12 year old little girls are tested and safer then the general screwing public. Not to mention being basically raped for money every day. Are ex-jw's or "apostates" addicted to jw-bashing?
by booker-t inthis might seem like a funny question to ask but my mom told me that "apostates" are addicted to jw-bashing and cannot let it go and have a life.
i asked her what she meant by this statement and she told me that all ex-jw's talk about is the wts and jw's and negative things about the jw's.
she said that we get up thinking about jw-bashing and go to sleep thinking about jw-bashing just like a drug addict.

I have gone weeks without jw bashing, but you'll never convince your mom of that. I have seen some ppl who are still bitter after a long time, but if you make a good life for yourself and enjoy life then it isn't an all incompassing obsession. The only ppl I feel are addicted to jwbashing are those still in a lot of pain from the hurt they suffered. Some have had very bad experiences. Some bash to justify their guilt cause somewhere in their minds they still hold on to some jw beliefs.I bash to vent.Everybody heals differently, in their own time and "bashing" or talking about these can be like going to a therapist or friend, you get it out of your system. I came here not to long ago, I have been out of the religion for about 2 years I guess. For me it is a place to discuss issues that ppl who have never been in the org. cannot understand. For instance, a friend recently asked me alot of questions about the jws and why i left, as i answered, i could see her eyes glaze over, she just doesn't get it. She doesn't understand how hard it was to leave or the control the org. has on you when your still in it. But ppl here do, its an outlet, that simple. Do I wake up thinking those damn witnesses, hell no, i wake up thinking, life is good.

i can only think of mormons but know of missionaries in the catholic and cof e faith.

i agree with kwin, most so called christian religions have some type of preaching. The difference is most of them do it on an informal basis versus under the pressure of having to fill in your time sheet for the month. I recently went to a church for the first time and was shocked. Not only was it a great place with friendly ppl who weren't in your face asking if you would like a free bible study, they announced various spiritual programs such as bible studies, etc. Big difference was that there was no pressure to join. And ta da, guess what they were all overbooked! Guess they are ppl besides jws who are concerned with their spiritually and gaining bible knowledge. Shock to the system or what! lol When you are a dub they try to tell you how unique they are in comparison to other religions. No body else reads the bible don't you know? Another lie revealed. Actually, i think their approach is more effective in the long run, ppl get into it if they want to. Witnesses do get ppl at the door to study with them but many of them leave when they see what its really like.

we can tell each other apart as soon as one says a word (especially poor sods like me inflicted with a lexy downer {adelaide} accent).

very funny bruce, but i am sure all the australian women wouldn't like being lumped in as one lot. As for accents, its the same here in canada, ppl can tell right away if your a newfie, or from cape breton, newbrunswick, ontario etc. Very funny though, tc. mama

This is priceless, lmao. So its ok to vandilize of part of the pagan christmas holidays, but not a menora! These two will be D'F for sure. The cong will have no choice, cause the "reproach on Jehovah's name" or should i say the reproach on the watchtower society, ha, ha. Well, one good thing, maybe those two idiots who did it, will be kicked out and wake up, see the light etc. Cause, being jws obviously has affected their judgement and intelligence. Just a note, isn't funny how the jws always say reproach on Jehovah's name, that's blasephemy isn't it, saying that God is reproachable?

Hi Bliss, i feel for ya. Same thing happened to the assh*** that abused my hubby and many others, he got away with it for years until someone went against the elders and took the jerk to court. They then had no choice but to df him but a year later he was reinstated, in another hall and back out in service, yuck! Luckily, a little birdie alerted the local paper to his criminal record, and he is now known for what he is. Hope you and your family can heal from the horrors you suffered at the hands of those so called godly men! Take care, and never look back. Mama

well minimus, you decide. When i was 22 my roomate and i recieved a visit from our elders, seems ppl in the hall had gone to them concerned that my roomate and i were involved in lesbian behaviors. Why? because at a party we put our arms around each other. It gets better! Then they read counsel from the bible on homosexuality to us, then, say that others in the hall are concerned because we rent an apartment below two guys! So which is it, we are lesbians, or sleeping with the boys upstairs. I was livid, but I maintained my cool because I knew they would take my anger as guilt. I stopped going to meetings then, left the religion, got a boyfriend etc. Several years later, I went back to it, had a crazy roomate, broke up with my guy, and i was homesick, so stupid me, i went back to it. Had a committee meeting, had to confess all my sins to elders who had known me since i was a baby, very humiliating. They asked questions that they didn't need to know the answers to, like did i enjoy the intercourse with my boyfriend, i guess if i said no they would have been happy. I think one was quiet the pervert. They privately reproved me because everything i had done was done across country, so the cong. didn't know anything. After a year or so, i met a guy and we starting dating, fell in love and oops had sex, we decided to tell the elders feeling guilty for our sins. They told me if i had nothing to do with him i would not be disfellowshipped, ( you see, there were alot of bad little elders kids getting in crap and they decided to make my boyfriend the scapegoat because his daddy wasn't an elder and he was from away), they painted him out to be the devil. So when i married him anyway, we were both disfellowshipped. The reason they gave me was that i was an unrepentant fornicator. How can you be unrepentant when you freely go and tell on yourself, i wasn't pregnant, could of kept my mouth shut like many i know, but i told the truth, so much for loving kindness!!! Anyway, to make a long story shorter, we eventually left the cult. THank God! But I have heard many worst stories than mine. My hubby was sexually abused as a child by a prominent elder, as was his best friend, and his wife, my best friend was sexually abused by her own father when he was an elder! They all make me sick, and I consider myself lucky and blessed by God to be rid of them.

So I saw an old JW friend last night at ........the bar???
by Dustin inso i got home from a long day of work yesterday, and decided i was gonna go to the bar and chill out for a little while.
so i'm sitting around talking to some other people i knew, when all of a sudden i see an ex-jw friend walk in.
now he was never great association, but my parents just told me how he was doing so well spiritually in our monthly "why don't you come back to the hall" conversation.

lol frozen one, i'll have to remember that line if i see a wit at a bar! here in canada many young ppl go to bars when they are wits, including pioneers, bethelites etc, they just keep their mouths shut, like a secret code of silence. It was always funny to see the pioneer who was sloshed on friday night, reading the watchtower on sunday morning and all the older ones of the hall saying, "what a fine young brother", Ha!

i totally agree with you fleaman, with my parents I know that if something happened to make them leave the jws now , they would be lost, depressed and aimless. They have invested too much of their lives into it and I think its better they live on in ignorance than face starting over at 60 something with no friends or family. So even when they try to attack me and i attack back, i try not to say too much to make them question, cause do I want their suicides or illnesses to be on my account, hell no. I say live and let live.
