Hypothetical Scenario... (Of a CULT, OMG!)

okay, this hs been going on in my head for a while, and though i should be focusing on my finals and papers, this little scenario keeps playing out in my head and i wonder if it is just my biased that "omgz it's an effing cult!

" or if there is some truth to it.. say they actually did pass out styrofoam cups with 'true christian' kool-aid... and told them that they would be in the new system after they took a swig.... do you think that the majority would do it?

one would always do it in any religion as all have to have their die-hards, but i think the real identifier of a cult is the idea that *most* would and could not help to do so without question.. because i can't help but *know* that my mother, my grandmother, and my sister would be bodies after the end of this little scenario of mine.

Actually, I have had that fear before because my parents are die hards and would take that "drink" if ~~crazy leaders~~ "Jehovah" told them to.

Probably around 92' 93'...not sure but around those years. I'd kinda like to know how he's doing and what's he's been up too.

you just get your hands all wet washing something and the phone ringsyou just picked up something with both hands and your nose gets itchyyou just get all settled in to do something cosy like watch a movie and you realize you forgot something important that you must do immediatelyyou just sit down for dinner and the phone rings you just started your last load of laundry and turn around to find a pile of things you forgot to addi know there are many many more.

You get into a checkout lane that has the least amount of people/things because you're in a hurry and the next checkout lane (that is now full that you justs passed up) is going faster than the one you're in.

i got 85% in my first assignment - arts and humanities and i enjoyed every minute of it.. the best part is that my jdub hubby and i have new enjoyable interests in common as we have found that we both like visitng art galleries and other leisure activities.. thank you all for helping me get here so quickly.

of course that isn't to say that everything is all plain sailing (far from it) but its nice to feel out of the woods!.

You're in the middle of cutting up chicken and someone knocks at the door or kids start to fight and you have to break it up.

You are to meet somebody at a certain spot but then realize it wasn't that spot after you think they are "late"...happened to my this past sunday...oops.

Are You A More "Moral" Person Now Than When You Were A Witness?

if you can be honest, were you more morally upright as a jehovah's witness?

I was as a Witness only because...for the same reasons BurnTheShips said...fear of retribution.

Now I live my life and do what I feel is right. I try to be nice and fair, I try to be a good friend and a good mother. Basically, I try to be a good person with healthy morals.

What has Changed the most? This board or your perspective?

we seem to go thru 'phases' here of 'i'm leaving because the board is changing' threads.

there is certainly a microcosm of social-evolution involved with any structured community, and that evolution may create in certain people a need to 'move on' [though often they are back rather soon after].. my assumption is though - in looking at the past threads and social environment here - that not much has really changed.

there seems to be a flux of energetic change at times.

Well, I've already stated what I believed changed the most in my thread yesterday. I also agree with JK666 that things do come up making the board a bit uncomfortable for a while then will change back to normal...eventually.

You can still get your point across without saying to someone, ok you are a complete moron to believe this BS. And it will only alienate them in the short run anyway.
