BB, I so know what you mean. I have a huge family but most of them are JW's. Even though I do have a huge family, it's only me and my two kids. I miss the tight family feeling. I also get sad when I see a huge birthday party for someone knowing I have never had a "real" birthday party. I've been out since '04 and the only parties I have had is from my children. Don't get me wrong, I love it when my 9 year old son surprises me with a pot of coffee and scrambled eggs with bits of shell in it...and when my 3 year old daughter jams small b-day candles in one of my bigger candles saying "happy birthday", it's just, I would love to have a nice, bigger party from people I love. That's not gonna happen since they are all in and so I have to take it as~it is what it is.

i would so love to have the type of family a friend of mine has.
they are all very very close, their children are very close, they get together every sunday for brunch, each sibling takes a turn at having it at their place.

by Bumble Bee inthis poor kid, watch his face when he thinks he got the xbox and then watch is face when he realizes it's a joke.
kids don't understand 'you know we can't afford ....", he truly thought he was getting his wish.
i'd like to smack some sense into these parents - what they did was just wrong!

It doesn't matter if he got an Xbox or not...the fact they laughing at him and playing this joke was cruel. Another thing I noticed is, if you listen carefully, his brother actually says "Jonathon, look at the camera and cry"...he will be damaged for life with this. It will always be something in the back of his mind. They are teaching him to distrust people along with learning how to NOT show sympathy and empathy for others. I can imagine him growing up with emotions cold or shut off. If they did this once, how many times do ya think they do this to him?

Convert junk into something useful.
You know, they are starting to head that way. I watched 60 minutes and they are making "scum", like from a pond kind of scum, and turning it into some kind of product for (I believe) fuel. I thought that was pretty interesting. One step closer to that magic wand.

Got my ex (AlmostAtheist) out...I hadn't believed in the religion for a very long time (since about '95-'96)...kept going to him with questions...thank goodness I did because my two children are not and never have been involved.

Being known on JWD - unable to discuss VERY personal matters.
by kwintestal infor some time now, my wife and i have met various people on jwd and we've developped close friendships with many of them over the years.
we have family members who post on here as well.
believe me, i wouldn't lose these relationships for the world.

Kwin...I so know what you mean. You feel like you need to vent sometimes but too many people know too many "other" people and the venting isn't as possible. You have to basically "cry in silence" or trouble/bashing/bad mouthing could start.
Lady Lee has a good point, pick out a few that you could trust or feel more comfortable with. Though, that sometimes can be difficult as well but it's better than nothing.
