  I'm sick of my instructor so much I want to quit college!!!!

  i'm not gonna quit, though i have the strong desire to do so.

  we're in week 7 and my grade sucks in this class.

  i understand most of it but he is so picky that no matter how well written there is always so many points taken off.

  I suggest you have your assignments reveiwed by the writing lab before you submit them. While you may be irritated with him, your instructor is doing you a favor; writing is an incredibly useful skill is today's workforce.

  I understand what you're saying, and I do appreciate the tips the professors give..but to take off points for every little thing is excessive.

  I use OWL to check my assignments...more so for my finals but recently for everything I'm sending to him. When using the OWL, it normally comes back close to perfect. For example....

  In the APA manual it says type "References" without the " : " and most instructors want it like that but he wants me to type "References:"

  Another example, when I quoted, I used more of the person's quote later, in the APA book the second part of the quote, it said you should use only the year and not the name when adding onto the quote from the same person in the same paragraph.

  For example, "quote whatever a person wrote (Smith, 2008)". And then I'd add my own words here then "quote a bit more of the guy's words (2008)".

  I got docked for not adding "Smith" on the second quote which I don't think I should have...I really think it's right anyway.

  I'm just feeling he's docking way too much. Going over the edge with criticism

  Thanks everyone...I'll try not to let this get me down. I know that I'll still get my degree even if my GPA scores are low and I know it won't matter to the outside world...but keeping my GPA up is a personal thing for me; It means a lot to me. At the moment my GPA is 3.69 but that's gonna change after this stupid class.

  Try to start all over again. Review the material anew. Re-engage the professor if you can. If all else fails, guess what? Who gives a rats crap?

  It's too late to withdraw without having some consequences on my loan. Failing isn't an option really because I'd have to retake it but have to pay $710. up front before I can continue with my education.

  She shot down everyone's GPA but mine in the entire class. Everyone, including me, complained to administration about her, and she was actually let go by the University.

  Yeah, that's a good idea. I think I will talk with the others to see if they are having trouble. I don't like the fact that I was docked for more points when he wouldn't answer my emails or answer the phone. Then I wouldn't really get help...just, "well, you need to Google it and you should have your answer".

  Right now my grade is at a 61.37% . I know that it'll come up but he's making it tough to bring the grade up from criticizing the hell out of everything. I'm hoping that with my final he doesn't do that too much because that will either make or break me.

  All of my professors have graded my work on whether or not I understood the assignment and did good with the actual assignments. They would recommend this or that on the writing style but wouldn't take points off since I'd do perfect with the assignments.

  With him, if I forget to add a period in my references, or say (pg. instead of p.) he takes points off of all those little details. I'm NOT in creative writing anymore and those little things can be mentioned but not taken off for points....sheessh.

  BTW- writing in APA means totally different to each of my professors. One may want me to use "p." for page while the others want me to use "pg." for page. I use the APA manual and I've noticed many things can go either way and sometimes it's up to the writer to choose the (small stuff) styles. As long as it's doubled space, title page, numbered correctly and with a reference page...I don't see why all the points need to be taken off.

  One assignment I didn't understand and I emailed him asking him to explain. They are suppose to get back with you within 24 hours. It took him 3 days and that was even with me calling him every night which he never returned my calls. Even though he gave me one day credit because of his mistake, it still took a lot off my score on top of him criticizing (which means MORE points off) it further into a not so good grade.

  Everyone of my classes I've gotten a B+ or higher but with his class I'll be lucky if I get a C-...Ugh, there goes my GPA!

  I'm SO discouraged right now!

  I think I found my soon to be new "Best Friend"...

  i'm a person that it takes a while to learn...or to become close enough to consider "close" or "best" friends.

  i've been going out to occasional parties, coffee, barnes and noble places and have been around this wonderful lady.

  we've been invited to several places at the same party and tonight we realized that we both have many things in common.

  So Leo found his Lionesse. Cool. I hope things go well for you guys.

  Well, not quite "that" way...lol She's a gal friend...I'm a gal looking for friends I can call up and invite to coffee, chit-chat about nothing, go shopping and do that kind of stuff. I'm not one to warm up to people close enough to call and invite to places. We crossed the "line" of being acquaintance to being friends to where we were able to share a few personal only friends type share. In fact, she got after me last night for over thinking about a few things (which I seem to do a lot...LOL)...which I need that right now.

  ....I'm happy for you Gina. I hope I get to meet her...I know if you like her I will.

  You would love her Lisa, she's very real. Maybe all of us gals could go shopping one day around your place like we did before. We'd have a blast I'm sure.

  Well, now I LOVE them...

  About 3 months ago I had the most horrible neighbors. Since I live in an apartment and I'm on the 3rd floor, my neighbors under us complained about the smallest things such as using the shower and them hearing the water between the walls...from me using the dishwasher and ect. Now that they've moved, it's been great. They are much older than most here and moved from a house to an apt (different living experience) and are not tolerant to apt. living.

  When I first moved in (over 2 years ago) I was concerned that my children were a bit too loud and asked my next door neighbor (the one that shares a wall between the apt. if they are bothered...they said no...and that they are not "old farts" that they can't handle a little bit of noise.

  The neighbor across from me is so quiet but will even talk to my 3 year old from time to time even when he's way down on bottom getting out of his car and she's on our balcony.

  Now that the "crazies" have moved...it's been wonderful. Now it's getting my kids to bed by nine that I have to work with...LOL

We've been invited to several places at the same party and tonight we realized that we both have many things in common.

  First, I'm a Leo and I do believe that your birth chart has valid merits to them. She is also a Leo and we were comparing notes....we have realized that we like/dislike the same things.

  As a Leo, I'm bossy (I admit), very picky on a lot of things, have trouble getting close to people but also know that once a friend always a friend.

  I feel pretty good right now because there aren't too many people who "get" Leo's. We're going to go out for coffee next Saturday to compare more notes.

  After talking with her for over 6 months, I'm realizing ...I think I found my new best friend!!!

  I have been looking for friends outside of the JW's for over 4 years now...I'm excited to know that I may have just found that.

  If you have a "best" friend...do you remember the connection...the moment when you realized this was going to be your best friend?

  Well, you may have to go hungry in "this system" but your prayers will be answered when you're resurrected. While alive and going through hardship it's a "test"..Whatever

  Hummm, I feel less confused and more confident than I did before I started college.
