  Original Claire Burke reminds me of my grandma--she had sachets of it in her dresser.

  Moth balls remind me of my other grandma!

  The smell of coal burning takes me back to first grade--we had a coal burning furnace in our house.

  i recently saw my jw brother and sil and listened to them talk about poor sister sick(o) who has been diagnosed with major mental problems.

  she went to the doctor's and the doctor supposedly began to berate her out of the blue because she is a jehovah's witness.

  now the family wants to have the doctor formally rebuked for his so called "discriminatory comments".

  A brother once told me that I cheered him up and made his day! We were out in service at the time and I could tell he really hated it!

  Exciting announcements at service meeting

  we've already had a post on this, but there were other interesting comments.. the brother giving the announcements said that there would be a new understanding of jesus' reference to the generation as discussed at the annual meeting.. an elder giving a service meeting part review of different watchtower articles from the current year brought out the new light concerning 1935.. he asks: "when is the sealing of the anounted ones?".

  elder answers: "there is no specific date".

  later after the meeting, i asked an elder if the new understanding of the remnant now meant that younger people could go to heaven.. he answered with an affirmative "yes" and that we would be getting the new understanding of the generation jesus spoke of in a future 2008 watchtower.. .

  Does this mean that younger ones who have claimed to be annointed--but not believed--will now be respected and believed?

  How To Repel Jehovah's Witnesses at Your Door

  the doorbell rings, and it is jehovah's witlesses.

  this is not all that unusual, but in this case you have made it clear that you do not want to be called on.

  there is a no trespassing sign prominently displayed on your door, and they know you are absolutely not interested.

  Where children are involved, a good response would be to get the parents charged with endangerment of a minor. The child stands a good chance of gettiing pulled out of that [Witless] family

  While I agree being raised as a witness isn't the best--it's not always abusive. What a horrible thought--taking the kids away from their parents--pretty scary for the kids.

  My mother was raised in a very abusive home. She said one reason she never told was that she was afraid of being taken away. She would have rather stayed with her abusive parents then face the unknown--or something worse.

  Very cool! I've thought of getting a cockatoo! Trouble is, I like many different kinds of parrots--it's hard to decide!
