ELDERS BREAK UP GROUP OF SISTERS - WHY?
by juni ina friend told me tonight that the elders broke up a group of sisters who were all experiencing various degrees of depression and enjoyed the upbuilding association with each other.. why would they do this?
according to them for two reasons:.
because this looks bad to the cong.

I think the brothers didn't like the fact we discussed spiritual matters w/o a penis present !

I tried to start " tea parties " for some sisters in the hall that didn't always get invites to the money spending parties
I had always wanted to do that, too. Seems I never got invited to something unless it was to spend money! I remember going to a cosmetic party and the cheapest item was a bar of soap for eight bucks! An older sister that I had known since childhood felt obligated to purchase something just because she was invited. She was going to buy the bar of soap--I talked her out of it!
Do you think the young, somewhat wealthy sisters who had this party realized that some feel obligated to buy stuff?

Anyway he said Elders are told to bust up sisters that are too close to each other especially if their are several who constanly hang out together for anything.
This is so weird--Is this in writing anywhere? Or is it another one of those unwritten rules?
I know brothers who spend a LOT of time with each other. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I am so sick of CONTROL FREAKS!!!!!!!!!!

Luna--Elders at a congregation you know of also had the nerve to tell a group of older sisters not to sit together! They had sat together at meetings for years--most of them had husbands that were not in the "truth". I think it had to do with looking like a clique--how stupid! Those same elders kids were in their own little groups--HYPOCRITES!
Those sisters had always looked so cute sitting together.................not many of them are alive anymore--think it made a difference where they sat?

Joining Finally
by EAGLE-1 ini used to post in a forum much like this years ago.thought i would jump in this one.i have visited here several times and browsed your posts.i have enjoyed reading your posts and will be in here to read more and sometimes comment.looks like everyones said the usual jw stuff and my stories would be just more of what you all have been through or know of.it appears our histories are the same.now its time to make our own history.glad to be a part of this family in this forum.i really enjoy the great sense of humor many of you have.i have been laughing ever since i left the borg society.i tend to be satirical and i like to make people laugh.sometimes i can be damn right cold and mean but mostly to those that force their religious beliefs on others whether its crashing planes into buildings or 'placing ' magazines.they are all the same to me.simply- if it hurts it is wrong.thanks for allowing me this membership.hello to all my new brothers and sisters and i bet real love.

Best, worst and weirdest assembly halls...
by Jamelle ina recent thread about the experience of attending the 1969 convention as a young child really started me thinking.
i have several fuzzy memories of assemblies i attended as very young child.
this got me onto the track of the rather odd, uncomfortable or even really cool buildings i have visited over the years as a result of those conventions.. so my questions to everyone are:.

I remember having circuit assemblies in schools! Central Illinois!
The assembly hall in Chicago was at 79th and Ashland--it was an old theater and I believe it was sold in the mid-eighties.
