I'm not an apologist, I'm just stating that if after seeing all the wrong things going on with the WTS and you still did as they told you than its your own fault, no one elses. Maybe mind control works more on those with weak minds.

How many mistresses can a JW elder have?
by Gill insince finding out more about the wtbts over the last year, it has come as no surprise to me anymore that the deceptive actions of the mother (wtbts) are seen in some of her children.
the need for double thinking, self deluding beliefs and sneaky, twisted belief and thought patterns that i have noticed over the years in so many jws suddenly makes sense and is no longer scandalising or suprising.. so when i was told of the behaviour of a 'fine, upstanding, pillar of the community, brother' i simply shrugged.
however, the results of his behaviour are not something to simply shrug your shoulders over.. it turned out for the last thirty years of his being married he has conducted affairs with another two 'sisters' in the congregation.

If after knowing all those things that you posted you were still part of the WTS then I say shame one you. The ones that wasted their lives did so based in their own free will at the time.

What of the millions who wasted entire lives believing the lies and being manipulated into getting no education, not having children, working in dead-end jobs, ect. All to promote the interest of a book publishing house pretending to be a religion. Is the hardship, pain, and emotional turmoil that we feel our faults too.? I never had an affair outside my marriage. Yet I have felt the pain of loosing everything I held dear when discovering the lies of the WTS. You need to develop some empathy, my friend. These are real problems brought on by real disgusting people at the top of a false religion. Don't just kick peoples feelings and anger and hurt aside because of your general lack of humanity Jeff
I'm not trying to kick peoples feeling. I agree with almost everyone that the WTS has lied and of their silly rules imposed on people. I just feel that everyone makes their own choice. Hey, I'm angry too because when I was in high school I didn't get to play sports since they were considered a bad influence. But when I saw the lies and these stupid rules I said this is not the path I want to take, I need to make changes I'm not just going to stand here while someone who has no clue tells me what to do. It's not like they were holding a gun to my head forcing me to work a dead end job, not having children, not going to college. Of course they would tell you do these things but the actual choice comes down to what the person wanted to do.

This is for Danny. Here's a picture of me and my friends. This picture was taken years back when we came back from a trip from Lake Geneva, WI. My friends are not JW, so on our way back I said hey let's stop at this KH and take a picture in front of their sign. We all agreed on it and we did it.
By the way, I'm the one in the middle.

Post your real name & pic and see if they don't harrass you watchtower leaders are the control freaks with a mean streak-Danny Haszard Bangor Maine
Actually the day I walked out I was in the back room having a meeting with all the elders in my KH. That's when I told them how I felt and that I didn't have time to give talks, go out in service or be the accountant for the congregation. They all know me and know that I won't put up with their bull. That was the last time I spoke with them, since then they haven't tried to contact me or DF'ed me. My mother still goes to the same KH and I still see a couple of brothers and sisters and I have no problem speaking with them, we speak they even invite me over.

Other Than D'Fing or Disassociating, How Did You Get JWs To Leave U Alone?
by minimus inhow do you keep them from bothering you?

Just walk away and leave attending meetings without telling anyone. The local elders might call to check up on why you haven't been attending meetings or reporting time, just tell them you've been very busy with work and life in general and hang up.

So it was the WTS who forced her to have an affair and loose all her family? I can see how emotional distress can cause problems but the root of the problem was cause by something they chose to do. Don't want to loose your family, don't have affair with married men. I think that's pretty clear in itself.

All I'm saying is that people usually attempt suicide to block unbearable emotional pain, which is caused by a variety of problems. It's often a cry for help. A person attempting suicide is often so distressed that they are unable to see that they have other options. Ultimately its the person who chooses they're own destiny. Each of us is responsible for our own actions and life choices. That's the part that I'm talking about, personal choices. If a person chooses suicide over trying to get their life together then the root of the problem lies within that indiviual and not being able to handle the stress. So what if people you knew in the KH don't talk to you anymore, get new friends. This does not only happen in an organization its called human life. I've had good friends that thru the years something happened and they've become angry at me for whatever reason. I'm not going to commit suicide, I just move on. I just don't see the whole 'blame big brother for everything bad that's been happening to me'.

Out of the situation I related to you, a woman killed herself because ultimately she was disfellowshiped and lost EVERYONE. What organization can do that to you? Even the prison system allows contact, communication, letters, visits etc....but NOT Jehovah's organization! Makes you wonder!
All I can say is that the organization did not do that to her. She did it to herself. Tons of people die every day because of suicide, what's the root of that? Some evil corporation or the feelings of stress of the individual. I guess I just don't see where they claim to be perfect in everything they do unlike most people on this board. Every situation must be different, I faded after being a MS for years in my KH, and I still talk to my family, members of the KH that I happen to see in the streets with no problem. Elders don't harrass me when I see them.

R6Laser,
True. However, the rest of the world doesn't point to itself as the "Light Bearers" and "God's cleansed people."
Respectfully,
OldSoulExactly. However they are just human like everyone else and therefore not perfect. If we beleived that we would find perfect people in the KH then we were sadly mistaken.
