last saturday, me and a friend from the hall decided to go to nc state fair together.
i have been told that the state fair is not a big deal in other areas of the country, but here in these parts, it means alot to us, expecially since we live in/near the capital city.
about the friend: he's a year younger than me, and we go to the same school.
This is the way all elders should be responded to if they continue with their power trip. Who are they to tell you who you choose as friends? Good Job.
I especially hated elders who tought their children were above everyone else and associating with them was a privilege. When in most cases it wasn't the case. I would've loved to see that elders expression when you told him that!
towards the end of my time as a jw, i must confess to cheating whilst out on field service.. 1. i would turn up at the field service arrangement with my wife, and we would say that we were working together that day to do return visits.
as everyone went out, we would simply get into our car and drive home.

No It doesnt make Jehovah sad. He knows the heart and intentions. He sees what the heart is. We as witness need to be more about the SPIRIT of the Law not just the LETTER of it. That was the problem of many in the days of jesus and the problem has not gone away.
Obviously you don't follow the WT order of not going to apostate websites. Therefore you make Jehovah sad according to the WT. If you think otherwise than you are not following directions like a good dub should.
As far as padding or lying for the monthly time report, everyone I knew did it. I remember pioneers waking up at 5 am and working on the street corners. They would do that for about 45 minutes then go to a coffee shop and wait until the time for the service meeting in the morning, which would be around 9 am. at the end of the day they would put down on their time sheets that they went in service for 4 hours when in reality it should've been 45 minutes. The rest of the time was spent drinking coffee and eating donuts while talking to each other. Doesn't anybody else see the whole preaching in the corners at 5 am dumb? I mean there's nobody around at that time in the corners and all you had to do was just stand in one corner while holding the magazine so that people see them. But like defd my intentions were also good.

I would NEVER put my self through that. If I didnt believe id be done with it, not live a double life. That makes Jehovah sad.
But you are already living a double life. You post here regularly against the WT wishes. Doesn't that make Jehovah sad?
As far as the topic goes, I would cheat all the time. I would always add 3 to 4 hours when turning in my time. I had to keep the 10 hour minimum if I wanted to stay being a MS. Looking back I'm pretty sure almost everyone lied about their time.
i was very naive as a jw child and young adult growing up.
i thought jw were perfect especially jw elders.
i did whatever they said because i thought they were appointed by jehovah and jesus.
It must've been quite a shock seeing an elder do that at that young of an age! I knew of elders that had affairs and actually ran off with their mistress. They were later dF'ed. You're mistake was thinking they were perfect, nobody is perfect and unless I was tought differently when I was younger nobody told me elders were perfect human beings.
apparently, many of the dubs can't keep their eye simple, so they need an assembly to tell them how to do it.. youths, are you pursuing spiritual goals?

Glad I'm also out. I remember a special day assembly I went and they had a visiting speaker from Bethel years ago. He basically gave a talk about how young people in the congregation should consider getting into Bethel and serve Jehova better. At the end he invited those who were interested to a meeting on how we could sign up for service in Bethel. Back then I was still unsure so I went into the room were the meeting was held.
There was the speaker and a bunch of young pioneers trying to get into Bethel. The visiting bethelite was asking everyone in the table how long they've been pioneering. As they went down the table everyone had at least pioneered for at least 3 or more years. When he came down to me I told him I wasn't a pioneer. He looked at me and said, "Well, do you think you could start pioneering in the next couple of months?". I looked at him straight in his face and I said no, I had a busy schedule with school and a part time job. He then told me that to go to Bethel I would have to at least pioneer for a whole year. That was it for me, I never liked going door to door and was not going to start now. Needless to say I left the meeting thinking to myself, "I'm glad I didn't stay longer." Shortly after I was on my way out the organization.
since finding out more about the wtbts over the last year, it has come as no surprise to me anymore that the deceptive actions of the mother (wtbts) are seen in some of her children.
the need for double thinking, self deluding beliefs and sneaky, twisted belief and thought patterns that i have noticed over the years in so many jws suddenly makes sense and is no longer scandalising or suprising.. so when i was told of the behaviour of a 'fine, upstanding, pillar of the community, brother' i simply shrugged.
however, the results of his behaviour are not something to simply shrug your shoulders over.. it turned out for the last thirty years of his being married he has conducted affairs with another two 'sisters' in the congregation.
When you stick everyone else in your box and then chide them for not being you, you come off as fairly short on intelligence and completely devoid of empathy. I hope you will learn to accept the actual pain that this Organization has caused others so that you will eventually stop feeling the need to drive stakes through my heart.

The point is that we didn't see it for a long time. Why call those of us who believed 'those with weak minds'? Yours is the 'strong mind' then that saw thru the subtefuge while a teenager? I never said I had a superior mind. For your information while I was a teenager I was still in as a MS. So it had nothing to do with me being rebelious. I just decided like all of you did at one time or another that if I kept giving the local elders the power to run my life I would've not gone anywhere in life. So I just left, literally walked away. My point was that while I agree the emotional pain it puts on us, its just a matter of saying I'm not going to do this anymore.
Now kids are a different thing altogether, they are usually the ones that suffer more, they are stuck inside because of the parent who still believes in all the WT lies. So in that aspect I'm sorry about what your going thru with your kids candidlynuts.

I'm not an apologist, I'm just stating that if after seeing all the wrong things going on with the WTS and you still did as they told you than its your own fault, no one elses. Maybe mind control works more on those with weak minds.

If after knowing all those things that you posted you were still part of the WTS then I say shame one you. The ones that wasted their lives did so based in their own free will at the time.

What of the millions who wasted entire lives believing the lies and being manipulated into getting no education, not having children, working in dead-end jobs, ect. All to promote the interest of a book publishing house pretending to be a religion. Is the hardship, pain, and emotional turmoil that we feel our faults too.? I never had an affair outside my marriage. Yet I have felt the pain of loosing everything I held dear when discovering the lies of the WTS. You need to develop some empathy, my friend. These are real problems brought on by real disgusting people at the top of a false religion. Don't just kick peoples feelings and anger and hurt aside because of your general lack of humanity Jeff
I'm not trying to kick peoples feeling. I agree with almost everyone that the WTS has lied and of their silly rules imposed on people. I just feel that everyone makes their own choice. Hey, I'm angry too because when I was in high school I didn't get to play sports since they were considered a bad influence. But when I saw the lies and these stupid rules I said this is not the path I want to take, I need to make changes I'm not just going to stand here while someone who has no clue tells me what to do. It's not like they were holding a gun to my head forcing me to work a dead end job, not having children, not going to college. Of course they would tell you do these things but the actual choice comes down to what the person wanted to do.
