  Let's just get something straight about 1975.

  nobody ever said that the end was coming in 1975.. all the hype about this date that has continued all the way down through today came from a talk in the early 70's by fred franz.

  in this talk, franz pointed out the significance of the 7 creative days and how they correspond with 1,000-year time intervals.. he then said, "could the end come in 1975?

  there's so much wrong with jehovah's witnesses from their rigid legalism to their faux love, but let's call a spade a spade about the 1975 thing..

  All I wanted was printed proof that the end was 1975 nothing else. I'm not denying that it wasn't said by some jws. But like many here, I was told that I wouldn't graduate from high school, then that I wouldn't graduate from college. Well, guess what I graduated from both. But this was said to me by very strick jws and I never found anything in writing from the wts that mentioned this. I also heard many things from active witnesses when I was attending the meetings, which i wouldn't even dream of beleiving what they where saying.

  While I see the point that this was eluded too, I wanted proof, not just what someone told me, or what a zealous jw told me once, or what I heard in a talk. Hell, when I was giving public talks I would say all kinds of made up stuff, all just to make it interesting. Still to this day the wts still preaches that the end is very near and that we only have a couple of years left, but that's how it always has been. This is just to make it seem urgent to their followers and instill fear in them.

  After reading most of this thread I still can't see where in a printed publication by the wts the date 1975 was mentioned as the end. I see alot of 'we are near the end', which has always been the case since I can remember. So if someone can just quote the publication where it is printed that the end was in 1975, I'll appreciate it. Thanks.

  It must be something quite big or there wouldn't be the tract campaign

  LOL, we sound just like them! How many times are we going to announce this BIG announcement here in the forum. Reality is there is no big announcement. Tract campaign doesn't mean a thing, there's been campaigns every year so its nothing new. Damn, most of you sound like you were probably members of the wts for only a couple of weeks not to know this. There's nothing new about this, they have always done campaigns and stressed that we are at the end of times.

  There are no new dates it is true - but I have heard at least one CO and one PO say that the DC we just went to may well be our last and that is why the KM news distribution is so important.

  That's how its always been. Every meeting, every assembly they have, every talk they always say how close we are at the last days and how it could happen at any moment. No surprise there, its always been like that. But when you mention that to them, that they've been announcing the same thing for so long that it really doesn't make sense. Usually they come back and say 'well, nobody knows the date, and to Jehovah a day is like a million years so what to us might look far to Jehovah is not that far off'. That was the response I got when I brought up this issue of them always announcing the end being so close. With that type of thinking there's not much reasoning one can do with them about it.

  the tower is tricky isn't it?unfulfilled predictions.

  individual jehovahs witnesses have made predictions over the years regarding specific dates and events that have not come to pass.

  They sure must have some people working fulltime in the legal department revising it back to what is acceptable to GB. There are more of us than them!

  LOL. More of use than them? Understatement if there ever was one. If that were the case the Wikipedia information would not change. Anyways Wikipedia is not known as a place to get accurate information on anything for the simple fact that everyone who wants to can edit it. Another big issue made about something so stupid.

  however, the truth is, i am still a jw--i am an inactive, secretly hateful, bitter jw and i will soon da.

  did i make known that i was a jw in order to secure trust with a client?

  However, it was an inappropriate time to tell these near-strangers that their religion is a snare and a racket, that the WTS was in bed with the UN for 10+ years and that they are being led slowly to their graves by the elders and the GB, and by the way when can you take delivery.

  How about this, it really is none of your business what religion they were when they came to you to buy a car. And its not your business to tell them how wrong they are or start judging just because you think certain way. Just like I wouldn't give a damn what religion you are when dealing on a real world situation. Sheesh, how more simpler could it be? You are doing basically the same thing jws are doing when they try to change people or convert them.

  i had a look at the wikipedia entry for jehovahs witnesses yesterday and noticed that it wasn't as comprehensive as it once was.. most links to non-pro-jw sites have gone as is anything truly critical or exposing of their beliefs and practices.. last night i added a link to this site to the "other sources" section.

  this morning it is gone.. i wonder whether this is some private zealot who has decided to do it or an organised campaign?.

  mscemike welcome to the world where everyone is an MCSE or MCSA nothing special about that. As a matter of fact MCSE certification doesn't mean shit in a real world environmet, it all comes down to experience. I've worked with techs who are supposedly MCSE and they are clueless when it comes to put their knowledge in use.

  I find it funny that you say you can send files to destroy my system. I challenge you to please do that to me. LOL, could you post more stupid statements on your response I would love to read it so I can have a good laugh. Also you mention how JW's are not allowed in the internet. I don't know if your congregations is in a remote location where there's no power but all the jw's I knew when I was attending used the internet extensively.

  Sorry your daughter got raped, but maybe you should go after the one who raped her, or whoever was involved, and not start a bitter war against people who don't know anything about you or of what happened.

  New special campaign....a few things that most don't see....

  ok. we have that "special" campaign ahead.....i still don't know how i will avoid participating....my family is all excited and will put the pressure on.....i might get my 50 tracts and toss them somewhere......it will look suspicious that i finished after an hour and "placed" 50 pcs in a territory that is closed to jw.....anyway.

  here a few thoughts that crossed my mind:.

  everybody at my hall is all excited about this special tract and i can't get the nice conversations i usually have with a few going, because of the excitement.

  Why are we getting all riled up over a simple tract campaign the WTS is doing? This is nothing new, almost every year at a district assembly there's a new book or a new literature that the WTS makes a big deal about it. Nothing has changed over the years. Every single year is the same thing, they come out with renewed efforts announcing how close the end of the world is, every singel year. It surprises me to see such a big hoopla over this here in the forum seen as how this is nothing new. Then the comments of the jws suffering persecution due to how it denounces other religions. Well, this is nothing new either, this has been done since I was a little kid. Most here are just eager to make a big deal out of nothing. Next year there will be another special campaign just like there has been yearly since I can remember. And their message will not change, they will always claim that Armageddon is right around the corner or something like this. I know because I participated in many campaigns like these when i was younger and I also gave public talks about the same thing year after year.

  hi guys.. i mostly lurk but i'm sure there was speculation early summer about some "big announcement" scheduled for octoberish.. did i miss it or are we any the wiser what/when it will be?.

  Like any other "Big Announcement's" stated in the forum they turn out to be "Big Dissapointment's". Its nothing more than a new tract being announced along with special preaching announcing the inminent Armaggedon. Which it still amuses me to see on this forum many posts for a new supossedly "Big Announcement", when most should know that the WTS announces new books or tracts almost every year at the assemblies to rile up the troops, make it seem like they are doing something important.

  Wasn't there also a post someone stating that another "Big Announcement" was concerning the blood issue? Or how about the other announcement that was so secret that the elders couldn't say a word about it, they just happened to mention to some MS that they had a big announcement? I could keep on and on about all the posts here about "Big Announcements" which turn out to be nothing. The fact is that these "Big Announcements" are the same old stuff as usual. Just that many posters here hype it up to make it seem like a big deal when it actually isn't
