From experience I can tell you that body building or working out do not cause you to get into fights. Myself and my friends work out all the time and we don't go around thinking we can take on everyone. At the same token you can't judge strenght by the size of your muscles. I also train in Mixed Martial Arts and I can tell you that size does not matter when it comes to a fight. One of the guys I train with who also happens to fight in MMA is only around 145 lbs. Yet he takes on people double his weight (including me) and still wins. Now if they're at bars when this happens then I might say that alcohol plays a huge part on this also.

My thoughts on men who Body Build
by kls inmy two son's are body builders and i am wonering if they think they can take on the world .
last year my son was in a bar fight and got sucker punched in the eye which required 5 stiches ,now my 21 year old comes home with a huge black eye, the biggest i have ever seen trying to break up a fight.. .
now both these people that got a good shot at my kids where men much smaller in stature and size and seemed to land good punches.

long years of brainwashing finally come to an end.....
by girl_interrupted inhi everyone, i'm new here......basically, i found this website a couple of weeks ago when i was in dire need of some like-minded souls who had felt screwed up about the jw's.
from about the age of four/five, my parents and i were involved in the organisation, and all three of us are stil messed up because of it.....we are no longer involved in it, but it took quite a few years before my parents found the strength to leave.
to begin with, i was quite a zealous jw, was baptised at twelve and disfellowshipped at fourteen, because as i got older i began to grow ''weak in the truth'' as people so kindly described me!

Did anyone else notice that girl_interrupted and jmusic both created their accounts on the same day? It also seems that every topic that girl_interrupted starts jmusic is there with his posts. Why of all the topics jmusic can choose to reply on, he chooses girl_interrupted topics? So far there have been two topics started by girl_interrupted and only in those did jmusic chose to reply. Is this just a coincidence?

JWS leading a double life
by greendawn indo you know (or have you ever known) of apparently loyal or even fanatical jws that lead a double life?
they may appear godly and obedient but in secret they bend the rules eg by fornication, cheating etc

I knew a lot of of JWS leading a double life. Most of them were young ones who would live a wordly life outside but be a 'perfect' JW inside the hall. I myself was one of them, along with my cousins and also most of the elders sons. I remember going out partying friday nights right after the meeting and I would run into so many of them that we would tell each other not to say anything to anybody. I'm surprised I was never caught in my own lie since I was living the 'double life' for a couple of years.

Do you think the Watchtower makes up experiences by people ???
by run dont walk inin the may 1, 1988 watchtower, on page 22, a witness, matsue ishii, recalls her first encounter with the bible students in 1928: at the back of our house in tojo-cho, osaka, there was a house with a sign: "osaka branch of the international bible students association.
" assuming it to be a christian group, i visited the house.
"do you believe in the second advent of the lord?

Does anyone; on the board know of someone who was in the magazines as an example? Or were you yourself?
Damselfly
I was picked years ago to give my example at a DC. The speaker was looking for a young witness in high school to give an experience on how he was persecuted in high school by peer pressure of other school mates. I remember talking to the elder who was going to give the talk and he was asking me if anything had happened with me in school that he could use in his talk. I had nothing so we made up a story of how there were other kids in my high school pressuring me to start smoking, me being the good example denied it and gave testimony about Jehova to the evil kids in my school.
Basically all my stories were mostly lies, I lived what they called a double life while I was a MS, funny thing was that almost all the young ones were doing the same thing. I remember giving talks on things not to do and I was even conducting the second school and giving people advice on things I didn't follow myself. After a while I just stopped attending the KH and faded away.

what do ex jws become
by jwfacts in.
what do most ex jws become, christian, athiest/agnostic or some other religion?
and since we all need to be labelled, what do i call myself now?
-
R6Laser
Why should we become anything else but ourselves? I find no need to look for something else as far as religion after becoming ex jws.
I'm just happier now without having people getting on my case about every single little detail in my life.

JWD Awards??
by RichieRich inso, i was thinkin, and got hit with a good idea.
everyone whos been here for more than a week has posters that they love, and posters that they loathe.
some make laugh, some make us cry, and some drive us right up the wall.... so to honor that, i think we should have some sort of jwd award session... (should simon approve).

How about most pointless thread?
I nominate this thread, which basically is just a popularity contest just like in the good old days when we were part of the dubs.
I guess some things never change.

Can a Witness celebrate Quinceaneras?
by TresHappy inthis is a big tradition for many in the hispanic culture.
but how can a witness have or pay for one of these?
marking a rite of passage.
-
R6Laser
From all my years going to a spanish congregation, nobody ever celebrated a quinceanera. Quinceaneras were viewed as another birthday party. Thinking about it now, all the stuff on not celebrating birthdays was pretty stupid and pointless but that's what happens when one is a member of a high controlling group.

I didn't say you couldn't answer me.
And I'm not denying you the right to do so, I even welcome it.
By the same token, you can't get upset because I have an opinion that isn't harmonized with yours.
I suggest you walk a mile in someone else's shoes before you judge them. However, at your age, I know walking is a struggle anyhow.
It looks to me like you were the one who got upset because someone else gave an opinion that didn't correspond with yours. Also at first I tought your whole point was that you didn't want anyone responding to you about the issue, or "butting in", but now you say you "welcome it." Again it's obvious that you didn't welcome it at first because now you have resulted to insults.
