Being honest & fair, can you think of anything that the Watchtower does that's beneficial to the public?
by Theocratic Sedition ini'm curious, as where i reside there's about to be a major brouhaha over the tax exempt status of a major player in this area.
reading and hearing the arguments from both sides conjured thoughts about the tax exempt status of religions and the arguments associated with that issue.
a significant portion of the arguments related to that issue center around how a tax exempt organization benefits it's community.

They print information telling people that if they don't become a JW then
God is going to have to kill them.

The anti abortion groups quickly learned that having the prefix "anti" in their organization's
name was detrimental to their image so they opted for the "pro" prefix.
Hence, ProLife
The pro abortion crowd also likes the "pro" prefix.
Hence, ProChoice.
When you get a couple of newbie Watchtower rejecters together who have no real world
experience because all they have been exposed to is negative sh*t about everything and
everyone but their own little group they make mistakes common to the uneducated.
I looked over their facebook site a couple of days ago and realized it reminded me of a song...
He's a real nowhere Man,
Sitting in his Nowhere Land,
Making all his nowhere plans
For nobody.
Doesn't kave a point of view,
Knows not where he's going to...He's a real Nowhere Man,
Sitting in his Nowhere Land,
Making all his nowhere plans
For nobody. -

Are the Family of a Disfellowshipped Person Told in Advance?
by Eustace inin another thread a comment by mamochan13 related this experience:.
of course, after i was df'd my perspective changed.
one meeting a couple of months into it they announced that a young girl, about 17, had been df'd.

My PTSD has been rearing its ugly head of late. Last night I had a flashback to my then future D-I-L's disfellowshipping announcemnt. She was there. It looked like she had been literally shot in the heart. I saw it in slow motion-- her body sitting upright it the chair, then the announcement, her body slamming against the back of the chair and then slumping into the chair. I know that she had pleaded with them not to DF her. Either she didn't believe they would or she believed they would change their mind at the last minute. She was dying of cancer.
Heartless bastards.

Your CoBE booked a 10-day all inclusive Carribean cruise on Carnival for he and his wife.
Just think of it as a going away present, donate and then fade out of the little JW cult.

I'm new here
by WrongweektostopsniffingGlue ini haven't got much of a story.
i'm in my late teens, grew up in it, and got out of the society's regime by the skin of my teeth.
nearly go baptized because i firmly did believe it was the "truth" but because of a gut feeling that held me back, that i almost ignored, i didn't sign my blood to big brother.

Who is unworthy to eat and drink and why?
by moomanchu ini have been thinking about this question a lot, especially during this time of year.the watchtower compels about 7 million jw's every year to believe, that they are unworthy to eat the bread and drink the cup of the lord.a main point of the watchtower's argument is found at 1cor.
27 so then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the lord.
28 everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup.

The ONLY anointed partaker at the first 'memorial' celebration was Jesus.
The other partakers weren't anointed until 50 DAYS later.

Congregation had to relocate Memorial...thanks to me
by Shepherd Book inso, the two local congregations were planning to hold their memorial together at 7:30 at the local community center, but they had to make a last-minute change to their own hall, and i'm pretty sure it was because of me.. let me explain.... at work on monday afternoon, a co-worker returned from her lunchbreak and showed me the memorial invitation that was waiitng in her door when she went home for lunch.
i noticed the sticker on the back indicated the memorial was being held, not at the local hall, but at the community center.
from a past (non-jw) event i attended there, i knew they didn't allow alcohol (unless you pay for security guards), so i wrote to the center's coordinator:.

Whoever made the arrangements for the comunity center must have been the same JW's who registered
with the UN/DPI.
They forgot to read the small print in the contract.
