For the same reason you go to someone else's wedding ceremony, I reckon.

Problems of Dating the Watchtower Way

My biggest problem with it is that you're only allowed to date if you're contemplating marriage. Once again, wts prohibits normal activities that develop social skills.

FS manipulation tactic #137: "Are you the manager?"
by rebel8 inthis was to be used when visiting businesses.
if you asked the first person you saw if he was the manager, either:.
a. he is the manager and you can proceed with your pitch, getting permission to leave your literatrash in the business, annoy the customers, and interfere with the staff's productivity by witnessing to them.. b. he is not the manager, and having an ego built for a 6-yr-old, he will automatically feel so flattered that you thought he was the manager that he'll say yes to anything you ask.

I am having trouble believing in God...
by thedepressedsoul ini was raised a jw and i am still one but recently i have been having trouble believing in a god.
this is not meant to offend anyone who does, i am just curious to see if i am the only one who thinks this..... to start, i am a very black and white person.
if 1+1=2 it makes sense to me and i can agree with it.

Erase the whole bible, and just have one page. Written on that page are bold letters; "Don't be a dick"

I am a very black and white person.
Sometimes people use that term as a code word for "logical" and "skeptical" (requiring evidence before adopting a belief).
I fail to believe as well. But that's fine.
I can go on being a good person, working on leaving society a better place, and enjoying life. That's right, enjoying life. If there is a god(s), then s/he will be pleased one day when he makes himself known. He'll find that I've enjoyed his gift (life). If not, yay me--I've made life positive and useful.
I spent a lot of energy trying so hard to believe, discern what the unknown creator wanted of me, and trying to do it. Now I spend my energy and time on useful pursuits.

It seems like a reminder and a threat to me, kinda like when barbaric peoples murder and hang the bodies/parts around as a warning for others considering disobedience.
Why does jehoopla need to wait until a rainstorm to remind everyone he's not going to drown us? Can't he just write it in the sky, or better yet, speak really loud and announce, "Hey peeps. I realize that was a totally crappy thing to do and I promise not to do it again. 'Nuf said, k?"

Interesting question.
I mean, it would make things quite convenient in the resurrection. They'd have such a short walk from the grave to the meeting.

Disassociation
by evilone inhi all, i haven't posted here in quite some time.. just as an update, about two years ago, my wife and i moved to a big city about 500 miles away from the town in which we grew up.
we made this move in part to expedite the fading process, which was successful.
when we moved, as i described in an earlier post, we formally transferred from our home cong (where our families are) to a local cong in our new city, and then transferred twice more so as to get lost in the shuffle.

OK now I noticed your last post.
You can block email addresses and texts. Do that.
Return mail unopened. Write, "return to sender, refused" and put it back in the mailbox.
Can you block certain phone #s from coming through on your phone? If not, answer like Mrs. Swan from Mad TV.
