I think I'll make a Peeps diarama and leave it on the literature counter on the night of the Memorial.

Are witnesses the best behaved people in the world?
by speargrass55 inhi everyone, i was discussing with a family member recently and was encouraged to at least consider the benefits of being raised in the truth.
for example,i'm not a drunk, don't do drugs, respect others etc.
the point is i've found lots of nonwitness friends who have similar behavior.. growing up, when a worldly person does something good like help someone i'll hear things like "that's nice of him, for a nonwitness.

In general, I found their behavior to be much worse than non-jws.

L3G's quote is saying it was named one of New York's richest corporations (hyperlinks to a Wiki article about New York City) in 2001.
As a former New Yorker, I tried to get financial info that, by law, is public information, and no one responded (IRS, state government, and wts, although legally required to reply).
This list does not include wts either (different year). It may very well be a rich corporation, but I am skeptical anyone has the data.
This article also quotes the same original source, as does Free Minds (the latter has what appears to be an attempt to visually reproduce the actual article).
A search on Newsday didn't turn up anything just now.

Thank you for saving 3 lives.
56 Facts About Blood and Blood Donation
4.5 million Americans would die each year without life saving blood transfusions.
Approximately 32,000 pints of blood are used each day in the United States.
Every three seconds someone needs blood.
One out of every 10 people entering a hospital needs blood
Just one pint of donated blood can help save as many as three people's lives.
..Shortages of all types of blood occur during the summer and winter holidays.
If all blood donors gave 2 to 4 times a year, it would help prevent blood shortages.
...94% of all blood donors are registered voters.
60% of the US population is eligible to donate - only 5% do on a yearly basis.
17% of non-donors cite "never thought about it" as the main reason for not giving, while 15% say they're "too busy". The #1 reason donors say they give is because they "want to help others"
...There is no substitute for human blood.
...Since a pint is a pound, you lose a pound every time you donate blood.
Anyone who is in good health, is at least 16 years old, and weighs at least 110 pounds may donate blood every 56 days. -

P R O U D of H E R: Daughter's column in the New York Times
by humbled inshe called last night to say it's online now, front page.
it'll be in the print version sunday.. not everyone's cup of tea, at first consideration: she is slightly embarrassed to be featured in the modern love column in the style section.. the times people asked to make a short video of her article "fight or flight".
they went to her bronx apartment to talk to her.

A congregation with all the craziest wts teachings
by rebel8 ini was just imagining, what if a group started their own congregation, with all of the wackiest teachings.
can you imagine what that would be like?.
the library would be full of 1800s-1980s publications.

The library would be full of 1800s-1980s publications. There would be a flat screen tv playing the Sparlock and masturbation videos.
Sisters would be walking around with used McDonald's napkins on their heads, prarie skirts to their ankles, pantyhose, "comfortable shoes", loose turtlenecks, and would never cut or color their hair.
The men would have no mustache or beard but they'd have big 1970s sideburns, wide ties and polyester suits.
There could be a healing room in the back for reiki, acupressure, iridology, herbology, and guided consultations with Golden Age ("to cure a cold, jump up and down naked").
There could be a snack bar dedicated to beliefs/teachings not in print. The stereo system in this room would be playing backwards masking music, Thriller, and assorted Satanic groups. There would be a flat screen tv showing The Photodrama of Creation. The menu would include Milky Way candy bars, blood sausage, hot dogs, and devil's food cake. The booths would be made out of Rutherford's Cadillacs. The art on the wall would be photos of Beth Shan and Bethel.
I'm having an idea that this should be a living museum.
People would not be allowed to leave until they had a judicial committee and were disfellowshipped.

Thanks WTBS for changing the Kingdom Songs, you freed me!
by StephaneLaliberte inyesterday, i saw a picture of a family signing kingdom melodies together.
it made me realize a fact that i am somewhat ashamed to admit:.
for over a decade, i have been aware of the false prophecies, the deceptive statements, the lack of scriptural support for many core practices and other issues with the witnesses.

I have a different reaction than you, but I can relate to the km having powerful emotional effects. My reaction is immediate:
Earlier in my recovery, I even had that physical response after reading a thread about km and someone posted this: I don't know if the songbook had that symbol on it, or if it just triggered a memory. But yeah, there are only a few things left that give me that involuntary reaction.

Profiling of an apostate
by joe134cd ini must admit when i was in, the idea i had of an apostate, was an angry bitter person who would picket out side a convention.
i was looking on jwservey and found on the respondents to a servey that 54% were either active members or fading members.
this made me wonder is the organisation underestimating the extent of apostasy.
-

I'm definitely an apostate by anyone's definition, but I have little interest in saving jws. I am mainly interested in prevention.

Black sheep of the family-my life as an ExJW
by bsand20 ini was a 3rd generation jw, half the congregation i attended was made up of my entire mom's side of the family, 2 of the 3 elders were my grandpa and uncle.
my first memory of the organization was when they announced my mom's name in the meeting saying she had been reinstated....it was 1988 and i was 6 years old....i didn't understand it then, but when i asked my mom why was she crying and why did they say her name in the meeting, she said "it's because i've been good!".
so she went back and after a period of time assisting constantly, she was reinstated.

I don't really understand the question..
I was responding to your question about a church having a right to discipline non-members.
