What my mother should have done.

this is somewhat of a rant but every time i think of it it just pisses me off.. .

i never understood why my mom would never switch to another hall or whatever when she knew how i was treated by the people who were supposedly the 'best' association around.

my older sister also, because neither of us really had any jw friends because for whatever reason i guess we were pegged as the baddies because our dad wasn't witness (still isn't) and my mother stayed sick a lot so she wasn't able to do half of whatever was required.. .

It was prohibited to switch halls for personality conflicts.

Besides, doing so would have deprived her of what sounds like the main thing she gets from being a dub--a gossipy, judgy, petty social network. It sounds like that meets some emotional need of hers.

Parents were brainwashed repeatedly to regard children as animals who just need a good beating and deprivation of fun to learn that life is unpleasant and Jah offers the only hope that the future will be less unpleasant.

Children are basically one step above pigs in that religion. As a lower form of life, your emotional needs did not come first.

I'm sorry but I don't like your mother very much.

i had listened to the degrading talk by gb heard (on women) & watched a video on evie bklyn channel & there was alot of interesting questions that are raised.. i had always wondered why can't women in the hall handle mics or run magazine counter etc.?

but they (if annointed) will rule in heaven with jesus.

that is a pretty heavy responsibility to help jesus rule millions of people on earth, but yet they can't pass a mic or even run the sound system in the kh.

Thank you Brother DATA-DOG for that proper counsel at the proper time. Unfortunately, before reading your post, this evening I arrogantly turned on some audiovisual equipment (tv) myself without my husband's help. I will pray for help in being more humble and subjective. Now back to the kitchen.

The bible claims god is all-good, all-powerful, and all-knowing. Evil exists, which god should have hated because he's good, stopped with his power, and known about it with his omniscience. --->Therefore the god of the bible does not exist.

Yes, there could be a god or creator that is not all-good. That means the bible is not true, but you're right, there could be. Then what?

I believe the best philosophy of all is to lead a good life. Be a good person and enjoy the "gift" of life to its fullest. If a god/goddess/gods someday make themselves known to us, and they are worthy of our worship (god being good is a requirement here), then they will be pleased with what we've done with their gift. If not, it's still a win for me and those around me.

Because you don't need a penis to float around in heaven, but you do need one to pass microphones around here on Earth. A woman cannot be expected to carry around a microphone phallic symbol while she menstruates and cries. duh.

The Scriptural position might be said also to take into consideration woman's biological nature. As every woman in the prime of life is well aware, she has certain difficult days each month during which she cannot give of her best and during which she very much appreciates her husband's showing her consideration. But if she had responsibilities of oversight and was required to hold forth regularly on the public platform regardless, either her performance or her health would suffer.

well, i have finally got rid of my baptism cards.

the congratulations cards....the wt ones, the ones with sheep on etc.... all gone.

they dated back to 23/09/2000.. has anyone else "purged" their witness past this way?.

PS-Millie, I think what's being said is the fact that the scripture can only be reasoned upon by putting it into its historical context (violence, misogyny, slavery) indicates this publication is not the product of a loving god. A loving god wouldn't wait for Iron Age humans to catch up to his perfect ethics and lovingkindness. S/he would take the lead by commanding them to do the right thing and teaching them why. Instead s/he ordered them into battle, mass murder, abuse, rape, slavery, and by his/her own words, "humiliation".

Hard time coping with shunning

it's almost 1am and i can't sleep...again.

i hate to think the organization is still taking my sleep from me 16 years later but i can't help it.

i run a page on social media for ex jw support and advice and i'm usually there helping others but it definitely takes a toll on me when i'm having to argue and disprove jws that troll my page.

You mentioned "it's making you not sleep", etc. The truth is, you will never be able to control the behavior of others, so if you're reliant on them for your well being, you're in trouble. Right?

All you can (try to) control is your reaction to it. "The devil's in the details" rings true here. It's the (try to) that's the hard part. But it is possible!

Any time they say the gb thinks something jointly as a group makes me think of the Borg. The gb members are individuals, not clones. Or are they?

And then, what's this with, "We love you all"? How is that possible? You can't love someone you never met or don't even know exists. Creepy, deity-like.
