Crisis Of Conscience In Audio Format?
by dubstepped ini'm just wondering if the book is available to be listened to in any format?
i know that it can be found online and read freely, and i've been through some of it, but i just wondered if it was available in any other way.
i guess it would be lacking some of the copies of articles and such that were in the original book, but it would still be interesting.

Isn't this copyright violation and piracy? -

Candace settled and she deserves the peace.
by snare&racket in"hot topic on topix seems to be candace conti settlement.
but it's all quiet here.
are you guys aware that your hero, who was not in it for the money but to change policies, settled without changing anything?".

Well to be fair, maybe poster Nitty-Gritty did something more heroic than Candace.
Just kidding. It's pretty much impossible. I guess then he should shut up.
I'm not even reading that thread anymore. Sick troll.

Fun at The WT This Morning
by OneFingerSalute inso ofs was at the wt this morning, and on par.
14 the question was, "what trust can a faithful christian whose relative is disfellowshipped have?".
after awhile when no one else raised their hands ofs did, and was called on.. ofs commented, "one of jw can have the trust that god will lovingly give them the ability to uphold the disfellowshipping arrangement by totally shunning family members.".

Songs celebrating leaving the faith? Not being a puppet, mind controlled, living life, etc etc
by aley63 ini am looking for some songs that are in ref to celebrating leaving, seeing the light, realizing what you were told wasnt right, being happy w your life, etc etc.
all those emotions about being controlled and repressed, being told what you can feel or think or how to live, blindly following the "brotherhood ".

How are the JW's reacting to the new USA gay marriage laws?
by purrpurr inpersonally i think this is wonderful.
i have nothing against gay people and wish them only the best.. but of course i'm in a minority of one, the jw's around me are posting away on fb the most homophobic vitriol imaginable.
a lot of them are even saying that it's the start to armageddon!!.

The Puritans sought freedom of religion for themselves and not for others too.

'Covenant' Marriages -- A new type of marriage, harder to divorce
by rebel8 inas i understand it, covenant marriages are available in a few states.
they are a supersonic, superfine version of conservative marriage.
it's harder to divorce--it has to be with certain causes or agreement of both spouses.. covenant marriages have been criticized by human rights advocates as a potential tool for abusive spouses to restrict the escape of their victims.. in at least one state, the couple must receive premarital counseling and the signature of the counselor before obtaining a covenant marriage.

Does anyone know if dubs in those states are getting these types of marriages? -

Since we're talking about jws' belief right now that, due to same sex marriage being recently legalized in the whole of the US, Armageddon will arrive soon. The destruction of the family unit has begun, in their eyes.
So if they are so into marriage and so certain of their vows, those in states where covenant marriage is legal must be running to their county clerks to get covenant marriage licenses, or convert their existing marriages into the super duper version. I imagine them touting this as a good witness to all those worldlies--look at me, I'm super glued to my spouse 4EVAR.
So...how many dubs have a covenant marriage? If not, what's the hold up? Why aren't they putting their $ where their mouths are?

Thank you for starting out my day with a deep belly laugh.
It is so bizarre that people think this will increase the prevalence of homosexuality. All it's going to do is bring in revenue to the wedding industry, increase family stability, make people happy, and increase the social acceptability of people being their true selves.
I guess it's that last bit they have a problem with.

"Gerson Therapy" in Tijuana, Mexico
by OrphanCrow insince at least back to the 1960s in canada, jws have been travelling to mexico for cancer treatment.
and, i believe, other medical treatments.
because i watched my uncle die of cancer back in 1962, unable to receive treatment because the doctors couldn't operate without blood, i have always been curious as to why the jws with cancer were going to mexico.

Yeah, Gerson is dangerous, as are many woo treatments that dubs and other fundies flock to.
I periodically post about "alt med" on my cult prevention blog because wooism mirrors cults in so many ways. Dubs are ripe for it. It requires rejection of logic, facts, skepticism and science.
I personally was a victim of it. My jw parent rejected appropriate medical care for "alt med" and 1930s-style jw healing. Not only did the rejection of medical care severely endanger me--my condition was made worse by herbs.
I was also essentially required to enter an "alt med" training program so I could fund my pioneering. The training program consisted of 2 days in a fellow dub's living room, talking about macrobiotics, iridology, acupuncture, qi, herbs and other poppycock.
But it was all legit though because we had an anatomy book.

Back in the Basement
by LostGeneration inlooks like the faithful jws are back in the basement, the oct 15th wt has this image on page 9. but now the lights have been turned out!
i guess the persecution is really kicking in if the electric company has shut off their electricity, or the jws are really, really paranoid that the government is gonna get them if they have the lights on!.
only one guy is smart enough to use his tablet (far right), the rest of the jws are old school, using a lantern to read their bibles in the dark!

The kid is wearing a hoodie. A HOODIE to a meeting! Know who else wears hoodies? The grim reaper, and he's a demon! Therefore, hoodies are demonic.
He is supposed to be my spiritual superior. I am totally stumbled and never going back now.
