  "Say no, get away and tell someone."

  Yes, you recognize that as a saying to kids so they don't get abused.

  I wasn't being sexually abused, but I was being physically and mentally abused. If I had just notified my normal parent what was going on, it would have been over. I didn't know that at the time. I was brainwashed just like other abused people--don't trust others, don't tell them what's happening, they're against us, they're the enemy.

  JW Cart Witnessing = ONE BIG JOKE

  was talking to a good buddy of mine a couple days ago (we pioneered and were in bethel together and have both left the cult a few years ago), about the current cart and d. and the consensus was that it is now a complete joke.

  was watching a couple witnesses last week sit at a table with their literature display.

  no approaching people for conversation, no initiating stimulating dialogue with passerbys, as was encouraged when i "pioneered" back in the day.

  I found FS extremely embarrassing. I think the cart thing would be more humiliating than door to door. At least at the doors, most people don't answer, and at worst, you are only bugging the crap out of one person at a time. Sitting at a cart like that in public, omg.

  This is a very important thing you've said. You can do this. Stop saying you're depressed and stop pretending you are. Go about being happy as much as you can. You can still play the "discouraged" one, which will not be dishonest at all.

  I need counselling, don't know where to get it.

  How about asking your primary care provider for a referral? Yellow pages? Online government registries of licensed professionals? Insurance company referral lines or provider directories?

  this came up recently with my dyed-in-the-wool jw pioneer mother, who swears up and down that there are no scriptural instances of this happening.

  i seem to remember a couple passages, but can't remember where they were..

  Jesus is the product of child rape--age 13--no matter who you believe the baby daddy is. This from a god who believed his perfect son couldn't consent to baptism until age 33. Consent to impregnation when you're 13=A-OK. Consent to baptism=wait til you're in your 30s.

  What is the real purpose of attending your JC?

  i was compelled to ask this question because i have seen several of the youtube videos on jcs.

  on striking similarity among all these videos is that most of the people bringing the arguments to the elders are pretty much atheists or have turned to another religion altogether.. i can easily see that the common concern in most of the people involved, is their ability to keep in touch with family and friends, which by all means would be my concern as well, when and if i ever end up in one.. however, i can't help but to notice something.

  it is difficult enough to think of the day that the wt would accept a loose canon in their ranks, let alone someone who openly claims to no longer believe in god.

  Me, I was forced to attend by my parent, with my only other choice being homelessness.
  

  People seem to have a variety of reasons.
  

  • curiosity
  • wanting to tape it
  • wanting to avoid punishment
  • wanting to convince others of the truth
  • wanting closure (I don't get this one--closure is something inside of you--you don't need a bunch of cultists to grant you this gift.)
  • wanting an opportunity to ventilate concerns, complaints, feelings (Again, I personally don't get this one. I don't need whacked out toxic people to meet my emotional needs, TYVM.)
