Community Service and the JW's
by startingover ina florists went to a barbershop for a haircut and went to pay the barber when he was done.
the barber thought that was very nice.
later that afternoon a cop came in for a haircut when he was finished he went to pay the barber but again the barber said he couldn't accept payment since he was doing community service.

That is so true!
I remember people in the cong being "good at" doing hair and being taken advantage of. I remember profusely thanking them and giving them gift certificates to the grocery store--they acted so surprised.

I read it as a breakdown, ie a detailed listing of the organisation people etc - rather than the breakup of the WTs
Oh. I saw the word breakdown and immediately interpreted it as "disintegration". Wishful thinking. Duh! (Saying "duh" about myself, not about anyone else.)

Adoption and shunning
by Bigbro inmy wife was adopted and raised in a jw family, at a young age she made the mistake of being baptized.
as a teenager she was disfellowshiped only to be reinstated.
we met in collage and hit it off, and after dating (which her parents didnt know about) we decided to get married.

Recently I found out that they had been lying to me and secretely teaching my kid about serving Jehovah (including anti- xmas and chrismas). I have now cut them off from seeing their own grandkids with the exception if they want to come over and vist with the hole family (including my wife whom they are currently shunning).
That is a good way to handle it for 2 reasons:
1) Supervising the visit prevents secret indoctrination against your wishes.
2) Not allowing them to shun just your wife shows your kids your wife deserves respect and you are not willing to let them have relationships with people who refuse to be respectful.

That must be an excellent way not to have to share a seat with anyone on the train/bus/subway rebel8!
LOL! I drive my own car, so that helps. Actually, I have always talked to myself...ever since I was a little girl. I'm not even aware of it most times. When I'm walking around, I am often caught talking to myself--people give me strange looks. I try to brush it off by pretending I was singing or biting my lip, but I don't think I pull it off very well.
Your new picture is interesting. I'll bet you have men fighting over sharing a seat with you on the bus!

It's one of those JW things I subscribe to. Perhaps this doctrine is written too deep in my hard drive and cannot be overridden.
I'm betting your objection to accepting blood products is the potential for infection and not the twisting of scriptures done by the JWs. Keep in mind, the JW refusal of blood never did have anything to do with infections--it was always based upon scriptural misinterpretation predating any knowledge of the existence of bloodborne infections. They just jumped onto the HIV thing in '85, claiming it was proof their doctrine was valid--a false claim. Infection is an issue totally separate from scriptural interpretations/misinterpretations.
To answer the OP's question, yes. Concern over infection is valid. Blood should not be taken unneccessarily. If there are other effective treatment options, try those first. Nowadays that is what is offered by healthcare providers anyway--blood is a last resort. However, there are cases every day in which people are faced with accepting blood products or dying (substitutes won't work for them). Whenever I am in such a situation, I certainly will choose life.
PS- Thank you to anyone who donates blood. Blood saved my life a few months ago and I will undoubtedly need it in the future.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but what in this document indicates the breakdown of the WTS? Maybe I don't understand what I'm reading.

Six Billion Hearts Will Soon Stop Beating. . .
by ACEofCAD inannounced our circuit overseer last night in his talk about the urgency to preach because of the times.
followed by a silence that was broken with ohhhs and ahhhs.

This is why when I hear people say, "Oh, but the rank and file witnesses are such good people" I want to barf.
Me too, Jeannie!
The quote from the CO and the audience's response gave me goose bumps and nausea. Too sick for words.
