Do pregnant sisters wear the tight, formfitting dresses like those women of "the world" do?
by ShirleyW injust wondering about that as i was watching the news tonight with lester holt, the weatherperson was dylan dryer i believe her name is, who is also on the today show, she was wearing what pregnant women have been wearing for more than ten years now which is the formfitting style of maternity dress.
just wondering if the sisters in the hall are doing the same thing, because back in the day the old elderettes and female pioneers would have an earful to say about a pregnant women who doesn't wear the appropriate maternity wear, showing off that big belly and so on.
btw, i don't care for that style on pregnant women at all, too revealing to me, i don't have kids but couldn't imagine showing off a 30lb belly like that, seems a bit inappropriate to me, imho i guess i should add here..

IMHO it isn't inappropriate. It's not like her vajayjay is showing or something. It's an outline of a belly.
Taste is another matter entirely though.
You'd think the dubbies wouldn't want to show off pregnancies so much. Woe to the woman bearing children during these times or whatever. Yet it does seem to be a big deal to them, cause for celebration. Kinda hypocritical.

So he got DFd for some reason unknown to us, and he played a recording of a discussion with an elder, on the street, loudly.
He is tried and convicted for this? Seems kinda harsh. What am I missing?
I am not saying it was right, just seems like a weird punishment for doing that. Also, I'm sure it was quite fun and cathartic for him.

Stepford Children
by Disassociated Lady 2 ini watched this movie for the first time today and i noticed some disturbing similarities with the personalities of jws.
the way they train their children and wives so they become robots to serve jehovah, but most importantly of all, to make their husbands and fathers look good and boost their egos.
if you haven't watched this movie or stepford wives, take a look.

I remember watching the original movie on TV and thinking it was similar to what was going on in the hall, even though I was young at the time and had only been a jw for a short time at that point.
They were controlling what the women wore, made sure they were subservient to the men, and told them what to think.
I did NOT want to dress like Holly Hobby like the other girls at the kh.

Special Talk During the Meeting Today About the Bad Press in Canada
by RobertT18 ini was invited to a congregation in ontario, canada today and as soon as the meeting opened the brother conducting the meeting said there was a very important statement coming from the borg.
this talk replaced the two last parts of "living as a christian" section.
he started reading a letter from the borg about how much they loved us.

God forgives everyone and how people can have a change of heart but since elders can't read hearts it is possible that these people may commit the same offences.
What now? I thought the elders were guided by the imaginary bearded sky daddy himself.
So either way it's the elders' fault this continues, not jehoopla's. Nice. That guy gets all the credit and none of the blame.

When I was a jw teen, my top goal in life was to get my own place and escape my abusive home situation. When I was 18, I tried hard to get other jw girls to be my roommates because I couldn't afford rent by myself. I was taken to task by an elder for doing this. He said I was to stop discussing this matter with my peers immediately. lol. This was one of the moments that prompted me to leave the borg.
My own jw mother confiscated my $ and banned me from working full time. I finally got a job that paid cash so I could hide my income, and got my own bank account w/o her name on it. She was fully intent on marrying me off to get pregnant soon so I would turn into an obedient person. LOL. That just made me run away faster.
At the last circuit assembly I attended she was once again hauled up on stage at 36 years of age, to talk about having taken a stand in high school by refusing an invitation from a "worldly" boy to go to the Prom.
This may be one of the saddest stories I've heard. She said no to a date, big whoop. Hauling this chick out 10 years later to keep bragging about it is so bizarre.

It may take a few years for that to wear off.
Just do what makes you happy and step gradually out of your comfort zone until you have reached a destination called Normal.

JW Ideal candidates for Life Insurance?
by MNLifeAgent ini am not a jehovah's witness, although i do respect your religion entirely.
i am 27 years old, and live in minnesota.
i have an older cousin, who's mother (not with my uncle -separated when my cousin was a baby) had been a witness, grew up in your word, and about 12 years ago she fully converted.

I am not a Jehovah's Witness, although I do respect your religion entirely.
If you respect the jw religion, then you lack information.
I was thinking of a good demographic of people who not only would appreciate the idea of setting up their family for success, but also who would be the "preferred standard" in the insurance agencies eyes.
jws believe Armageddon is coming at any second. The act of buying life insurance is counter to that belief. They are also less educated than the general public and do not believe in careers. That means they have less to spend on optional insurance.
For you, they present extra risks because they do not believe in some major medical treatments. -

why not accept them just the way they are?...
We rejoice that Jehovah in his...kindness...has allowed people from all backgrounds...to associate with us.
bwahahahahaha! I bet we could all come up with tons of litteratrash quotes that say it's bad to associate with non-jws.
