  Do some WT phrases make you squirm?

  for me it's "the doors of the ark are closing.

  i can never forget as a child, being forced to see the graphic images in the publications showing families, mothers with little babies clinging to a rock and others drowning as the ark floats away.

  fathers shaking their fists at god for destroying their families... it's like some of the little mind control still functioning in there somewhere causing a kneejerk reaction of uneasiness.... are there any others that bug you?.

  The org is going down----I can feel it!

  my brother called me today.he is 20 ,3 years younger than me,and out of the religion.he still has fear though that it could be true,but thats another story.. he told me he heard my mother and father talking upstairs.my mother said about the org "ive put 26 years into it,i think i'm done with it,i might just go sunday from now on".this is huge ,because she was a devoted nutjob witness.she made my life horrible for the 1st 17 years of my life.i had been trying to suddly tell her the truth about the troof,but i didn't expect this.i'm happy and yet i want to know where she stands with the borganization.. this along with what seems to be an outpouring of similar stories,i have a gut feeling the jehovahs witness mind control cult is on the brink of implosion.everyone is so burdened by it.the jig is up,gb,good riddance when you fold.the rank and file have had enough.my 2 younger sisters are on the edge of mental freedom.i hope they can fully get free of it.. this is a milestone in my families long and strange trip in mental enslavement!!!!!!!!!!!!

  I'm with you Blondie. My folks after 55 yrs in the organization are now late 70s early 80s and seem very much afaid of the immediate future meaning their death in this "old system". I do not see any peace in their eyes only fear. It is so very sad. Their hopes have not been realized. But they cannot give up now, all would have been a waste. For all the hell they put me through, I still find it sad. My Dad as a long time elder actually felt J spoke through him and hurt many other lives as well with his uneducated admonitions and decisions. How many more are out there like him? My guess is quite a few.

  Evidently from the 990, the Society accepted the money BUT AGAIN THIS DOES NOT PROVE THAT THE SOCIETY HAS ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THE UNDERLYING TRUST HOLDINGS AND FURTHER EVEN IF THEY DID KNOW THEY HAVE NO CONROL OVER IT.

  They have complete control over whether or not they accept the money. It appears they are accepting money from a company which is commonly known as a tobacco company to the average individual. Now, try to say no one could be stumbled by their doing that. How would your agrument stand up to a commitee ready to disfellowship you for say, selling tobacco products in your store, after all, you have no control over your patrons decision to purchase them. Besides you own a franchised store and they are in charge of what is stocked in their franchises. What would be required of you to remain in good standing? What's more important, the money or the possibility someone will be stumbled by your selling tobacco products? You would be held responsible for researching such things before purchasing your franchise and accepting tobacco in your store, not to have done so would mark you as a "weak brother".

  It's a matter of consciece you say? Well clearly your conscience needs to be trained better before you can continue to associated as a JW.

  Now you tell me just how unreal the above scenario is.

  The point here for me is, the WT requires it's followers to nit pic into every detail of their lives and to report any little thing in their fellow believers lives. We all had to answer to any possible thing that just might be viewed as a stumbling block to others. Should headquarters be imune to the same treatment they so lovingly dish out?

  "In any case, certainly the Society is not responsible for the Trust Settlor's business affairs or decisions." But accorcing to their own rules, they are responsible for whether or not they accept the money from such an investment now held in their name. No different than their telling us we should not even step foot into a curch of Christendom. After all, it would look like we are accepting and associated with their beliefs. Sorry, gotta run, my stomach is turning and my heart is racing...

  Are some people REALLY better off in high-control groups?

  in holly's good-bye thread, quotes mentioned that he felt that some people were better off in high-control groups.

  i've heard othes say similar things.. but i have a difficult time with this.

  is it not true that high-control groups stiffle a person's emotional and intellectual development?

  Well, my folks who are now 77 & 80 are better off remaining in the high control group of jws. They have no ability to operate outside of it after 40+ years of intense involvement. Leaving now would mean their whole life was a waste. I do not talk with them about it, that is the only way we can have any relationship at all. I politely change the subject when they refer to the society at all. They get their few minutes of time in and I manage to escape what is useless and depressing arguments. At this point, they do not even remember if I was ever baptised or not.

  i may have used too strong of words in saying 'hate filled' by why do you all call someone who disagrees with you a 'troll'.

  i disagree with lots of people without resorting to name calling.

  Call the Presiding overseer and tell him to put a Judicial Committee together to meet with you about violating the express commands from Mother Brooklyn about interaction on the internet with 'apostates'.

  And just be sure and request Mr Loving Jaracz has the time and interest to officiate so you can personally grovel before him! You will not be allowed to leave or end the meeting till you comply. After all, it is in your best spiritual interests!
