I remember (from the platform, more than 20 years ago) the Congregation being 'criticised' (for want of a better word) for their general lateness. The 'brother' said that the excuse of ''forgetting the time'' would work both ways, and that this would mean that if you were late for one meeting, it makes sense that you'd be early for the next one.

Timekeeping
by stillajwexelder ini have noticed timekeeping has got worse at meetings lately - always running over - some elders are very bad - but i notice it is always the publishers that get counseled not the elders and they are the worse culprits.
ministerial servants seem to be ok -the obviously want to progeress to elder and feel if they keep going over time they will not make elder.
i am told the worse person of all for timekeeping was freddie franz -anybody have personal experience of this?

since the WT withdrew their NGO status that the little "Watching the World" statements about the UN quit.
That's utterly disgusting - and sneaky - of COURSE the WTBTS was promoting the UN through its literature, but clandestinely, treating the 'flock' as stupid or ignorant (a quality well promoted).
What was their explanation for the sudden withdrawal in 2001? Nothing to do with being 'found out'? lol

flowers are forever
by tenrats inthis is a quote by ciro aulicino that was given in a talk oct 2001 i'd like to just share one thing, so, to let you know how much god loves you.
did you know he made over 250,000 flowers?
how, you say, well, what does flowers have to do with this?

I collect bottles of Port - so as long as it's still being produced, I am immortal (I'm sure I can adapt Ciro's 'crap' to accommodate that).

Chauvanism or Chivalry?
by stillajwexelder inover the years i have become less of male chauvanist pig and much more chivalrous - my wife says she as a woman likes men to be men and hold doors open for her and stand up on an airport shuttle bus etc .
if there are no seats left.
to me the wtbts is very chauvanistic and not very chivalrous.

A brief history of Watchtower simplification (Jehovah's Blessing)
by truthseeker inwith the latest insider news regarding the awake magazine going to a monthly publication, now would be a good time to examine a brief history of how jehovah has blessed the organization by simplifying it.
1993 paid for literature went to donation-based literature.
mid 1990s no food at assemblies and conventions.

anxious to teach in the most effective and helpful way
TEACH WHAT? I despair - what is taught NOW will be obsolete next year. Don't they SEE this? No wonder the old JWs are confused - bet they put it down to old age and senility, poor souls.

Suicide
by Rico El Vato inmy 30-year old daughter committed suicide on 11-13-2004. we had both been jw's who had left the borg.
she had been diagnosed as bipolar.
i did a search from the top of the page to see if this topic has been covered but it did not work.

The 'Thinking'
by GetBusyLiving inbefore i had disassociated myself i went through a period of missing meetings (go figure) and i was lurking around sites like this for quite a while, reading ex-witness books, and doing a lot of reseach into the bible itself.
i got an email from my best friend that was in my hall who was wondering what was up and if i was 'discouraged'.
i told him that i had been reading up on the wtbts and that i had been feeling like shit because i wasn't sure what i was doing with my life, still hanging onto some dream my parents had that was demonstrably messed up.

I'm with Lover of Truth on this one - your faith is between you and God, NOT via a bunch of Octogenarians in USA (followed by a series of wannabes. And I bitterly resent the Society judging what is in peoples' hearts.

DA'ing coming up, to speak out now or not?
by meat pie inhi there, i know its up to me in the end, but just wondering, what would most of you do?
my da'ing could be tonight, should i take the opportunity (before they can no longer speak to me ) to tell a few jw's that i am being da'd for telling the truth, or not to bother.
does it matter anyway.

Have I got this right -You are being asked to Disassociate because you expressed concern over the UN thing? What are you supposed to do? JW POSITIVELY encourages members of other religions to question teachings in a bid to find the 'Truth'.
Any decent JWs, especially those who like you, will probably find out/know why you are D'Ad - I personally wouldn't bother contacting anyone (but that's just me), because it will only reinforce their 'case' that you are a trouble maker, apostate, desperate, etc.
I am surprised that an MS is willing to be openly frank about his feelings - but is this allowed as those with 'positions' are immune ? After all, not believing JW teachings IS apostate from the Society's point.
I wish you much luck, and strength - please keep us posted on outcome

What I find suspect is that as soon as they were rumbled in 2001, they immediately withdrew from the UN - not the actions of someone with innocent motives and a valid reason for being a member anyway. The library card thing is rubbish, whichever way they 'sex it up'.

Fantasy
by Peppermint inanyone here read fantasy novels?
i know most of us have been away with the fairies, for real.
so i can understand if some give the genre a wide berth.
-
TheEdge
YES - 'Revelation, its grand climax at hand' - lol.
Alternatively, if you like fairies, ''ONCE'', by James Herbert - but better still, 'Nobody True'', by the same author.
