Oh dont tell me I missed this one.....Shucks. !!!
Scully I remember in Ottawa an assembly ( world wide one) after we had gone for weeks getting rooms for people of other lands. We had to go wash down the Assembly place ( forgot what it was called) Then it was an 8 day assembly I had to take my book study-- my daughter Melanie - two Pioneers & sleep in a TENT!!!!!!!!! Talk about suffering!!!! One day special meeting you say Mary ???& they forgot to invite me??? PITY!

Sounds like Bootcamp! ...Are you sure it was 8 days long! I never heard of it! Longest was 3-4 days as a JW. Maybe it's different in Oz...
But then again, they always change the rules.

Yeah! Great post! Awesome! Thanks for posting! :) I don't know much about Mormons, now I know a bit more. :)
I can see why people would rather be Mormons now. :) More free and family oriented. Services for children and adults, adopting "outside" religious beliefs and not getting spastic over it.
But, this is how I see it the Mormon doctirnes are SO WRONG, but the lifestyle is much better. The Jehovah's Witness doctrines are FAIRLY ACCURATE, but their lifestyle is much worse.
But I'd take the gun anyday and ask Jehovah to give me another chance in paradise*! :) Would be interested in seeing some of you people on this board in Paradise too! That would be cool! lol :) (I'm literal about it.) American accented: "Hey! Are you that inquirer guy!"

*In the New American Bible (Yeah, I love reading other Bibles, it's cool!) it says that paradise is another name for heaven. But I still think it means earth. In actual fact, though, Paradise comes from the word "park." So I think the original meaning in Genesis is still applied thousands of years later like in Matthew, Mark... as a paradise/park (a gigantic park!). NOt paradise/heaven. -

Well, I wish people would be shocked at how different Mormon dogma is too! If you are going to have a go at JW's, why not Mormons! (I know Mormon theology is criticized too, but sometimes I feel as theirs more bias against JW's!) My idea is too criticize ALL who are "heretics."
I couldn't care less how good they are with their family ideals and how much they join in the community. I'm not going to join a community that preaches crap Joseph Smith! He just made all that up in his head! -

the way franz explained it, all that is required is to have faith in jesus and to love your neighbor as yourself and then you will be 'saved'.
the more i started pealing away at the onion though the dumber the premise of someone dying for my 'sins' seemed, and i just lost faith in it altogether.

had you 100% denounced jw doctrine to yourself at the time of your leaving the org?
i know many have said that specific issues prompted them to leave i.e., wt membership in the un, silent lambs/child molestation policy, malawi political party card issues, inconsistent changes in doctrine i.e., 1975/1914 generation not passing?new light begets old light begets new light etc.

IN Australia they are playing the whole (classic) Doctor Who series. That had taken my mind of the JW's quite a lot!
I was too young when it was on. But I love seeing story after story.
lol Just think about how scary those stories are! Don't you feel sorry for the Doctor dealing with all those foes! :D It's hard for him, isn't it? :D I'd be more concerned with that! :D -

I find it pretty sad that people want to (as I always put it to my friends in real life) "pushing the reset button" in your mind. I wish I could do that to all those people who don't want to believe in JW doctrines.
I'm in a very tiny minority on this board that still believes in most of their doctrines! But hey! I am also one of those people who would love to deprogram people if that's what they choose to believe! I am a normal person! I wish I could wave a magic wand (I'm not so paranoid about that term anymore!! -- It's only a game) like on King's Quest (you can tell I love sierra games and Lucas Arts for that matter) and whola! You are officially a wordly person!
I don't care that you people don't believe in JW doctrines like me! :) Like what Raymond said we all have our own personal relationship with God! We really do! God is the only one who knows what you are thinking and knows what's best for you! The Jo Ho's can't help you! I tried to get them to help me! But they can't! They are too cult-like to help anyone! I was actually thinking of going back and just go to another cong! But this messageboard has helped turn that around. It all started with that question "Do Jah Witnesses keep records on people?"
...Also... I honestly love reading the posts. It's very entertaining! I get these belly laughs! I love it when people do that to me!
Just by the very fact you are not going to the meetings, shows you have a lot of control!
I guess there is one way of looking at it: people never get over things in their life. Some people... they get divorced and it cripples them! In Australia, it's the women who win! They get like 70% settlement! NO WONDER NO ONE FORGETS ABOUT THAT! Of course from time to time, you'll think about that! Really torturous things never leave your mind! If anyone has been raped on here - you never forget that!!! Because it's so shocking!!!
In a way the JW's have "raped" people's minds because of that cold treatment of people.

You have to force yourself not to think about it too much! You have to move on! You have to accept the damage done but just think about all the time you spent OUT OF THE ORGANIZATION and help other people not to go there! If you are in a coffee shop and you get the thought in your mind you have to think "no no! I am in the coffee shop! I'm talking to my girlfriend!" My girlfriend is the most important thing to me now. Shake it off!
Torturous experience are hard to brake off! But just think you are out of there. REmember to, keep yourself busy. When you are depressed it sets off a number of emotions! Unfortunately our retarded brains think of the retarded Jo Ho's! But that's not the only bad experience! This is just normal. Your brain is just reminding you not to Jo Ho again! :) Always keep your mind focused on things you like, don't look at the past and just look forward. REad a book, watch TV, go and have beer with your mates, keep your mind steady. Even when you work you balance your mind there too.
If you are religious you have to pray to God in your own way! And ask him to take away the pain. But you have to keep doing in on a continual basis to emphasis how much it's hurt you!
