long years of brainwashing finally come to an end.....

hi everyone, i'm new here......basically, i found this website a couple of weeks ago when i was in dire need of some like-minded souls who had felt screwed up about the jw's.

from about the age of four/five, my parents and i were involved in the organisation, and all three of us are stil messed up because of it.....we are no longer involved in it, but it took quite a few years before my parents found the strength to leave.

to begin with, i was quite a zealous jw, was baptised at twelve and disfellowshipped at fourteen, because as i got older i began to grow ''weak in the truth'' as people so kindly described me!

girl_interrupted one example being that when a wonderful JW family friend passed away, another 'friend' made the comment that it was the best thing that could have happened as she was not strong in the Truth..... (what a load of s*t!!!
I have since made some brilliant ;'worldly' friends who ;are better people then the whole lot of them put together........! ;Anyways, sorry if I've been rambling, feel free to reply!

That's an awful thing to say! If you are weak in the truth, die at armageddon! They need to change their policies and doctrines and get in touch with humanity! I am even surprised (maybe naively) but this comment! I've heard comments in the past that are so dungy, but this would top them all! Don't make people role in the graves! It's a very bad! Un-Christian think to say! It's just not right! But when you think of the whole situation... I mean, they are pretty screwed up people. They are right on some things, but fail miserably in other areas. They need a reform! If there is a reform, I might even join! Who knows!

i was recently out with a sister on the ministry; she was talking to some security guard.. she has been witnessing to him, on and off for a few weeks.. before she leaves, she gives him a question to "think about" and tells him "she'll be back next week" to give him the answer.. this security guard reads the bible at work.

the sister was talking about the resurrection hope.. she says, "did you know the bible promises that we can see our dead loved ones again?".

she finishes by saying, "next week, we'll discuss what god requires of us in order to realize that hope.".

Yeah. That makes me feel sick when they say that/think that! They've got an attitude problem! I'll think they'll die at armageddon for taking on the judgment seat of Jehovah! :( So crap! ONly Jehovah decides! I am sure there will be good Catholics, Anglicans and (some JW's) who will get another chance in the resurrection. Along with Muslims, Buddhists, and Hindus and Gnostics. Some people just knew more about the bible than some other groups.

Why 1914 is utterly true (and so is 607 B.C.E.)

1914 is a very significant date for true believers.

faithful and eager students of the scriptures figured out (and "proved") jesus would return to kill the wicked and reward the meek in 1874. the signs were obvious.

but, it didn't happen.

faithful and eager students of the scriptures figured out (and "proved") jesus would return to kill the wicked and reward the meek in 1874. the signs were obvious.

Why do/don't you believe in God

now for all the scientists out there this is not a question of proof or anything along those lines.

for my part i choose to believe in a god because i honestly believe there is one (though i did start doubting for a little while) i've always felt that there was more to our existance on earth - and that doesn't stem from me wanting to live forever or as a spirit, as i don't even know if that will happen.

i also believe in him because many many times when i could not carry on, on my own strength, i managed to pulled through.

Because he answers my prayers when I really need him! (action = results, prayer being the action, results is the answer you get)

for my part i choose to believe in a god because i honestly believe there is one (though i did start doubting for a little while) i've always felt that there was more to our existance on earth - and that doesn't stem from me wanting to live forever or as a spirit, as i don't even know if that will happen.

i also believe in him because many many times when i could not carry on, on my own strength, i managed to pulled through.

I would be so disgusted with myself if I was rich and didn't believe in God. I would whip myself and think well you know how bad it was when I was poor.

If I became a rich scrooge and then got all cocky, I'd just kill myself. :(

So I hope it's not because of monetary reasons. :(

I am determined to always believe in God.

Of course you have doubts and you think farout because we are imperfect.

Maybe you all think I am stupid, but I wish I could personally kill Adam and Eve for stuffing up things so badly!!! (I think like that sometimes. :( )
