Why should we stop using God's name Jehovah, just because they use it? It's not a Jehovah's Witnesses convention! It was in the King James version! I don't know what the big deal is about saying Jehovah in prayer. Jesus addressed him as father but wanted his name respected or hallowed... He obviously wanted us to use it. And to paraphrase him quoting Deuteronomy when he had it out with Satan... He told him to go away and it is Jehovah you must worship!
Unfortunately a lot of people pull the curtains across down on this subject, and it's such an important subject, but Lord, and Yahweh are not proper because Lord is a title and Yahweh is based on Aramaic not Hebrew! That's why I dont' like Yahweh, and it's basically a subsitute for the divine name. There's a character in the Bible called "Jehoash" and also "Joshua" and "Jehosophat." Don't you think they sound like Jehovah? Because the Jews incorporated the divine name in their names because they were a extremely religious bunch! If you put "Yahweh" next to "Jehoash," it's like putting a circle shape in the square hole!
I think it's obsurd that you people don't say God's name anymore just because of the Jehovah's Witnesses! I wish you had better reasons for that! I find it sad people turn away from God and become athiests... just because of JW's...
If you prefer to call God "Jesus" or "Yahweh," that's fine. But it's so sad just to do everything in opposition to the Jehovah's Witnesses! Do your own thing! Don't let JW concious hurt your relationship with God!
I use the name Jehovah because he answers my prayers with that name. I know he answers if you don't use the name, because YOUR situation is different to mine. I am sure the "Lord's prayer" will go a long way! :) We all have a relationship with God, so he treats everyone accordingly. A prayer that is honest hearted is the prayer he'll answer. You really have to ask him about using his name if you are not sure. But I find it easy because I really want to grab his attention!
I just think if Jesus has a name, why not Almighty God?

I remember this form a video game called Monkey Island (awesome game!) you read a gravestone (I think) and it says "Kiss me. I've got scurvy!" :D
What a stupid thing to say! Apparently there are a higher percentage of Witnesses that suffer from mental illness that "worldly people." I don't want to lash out at them, because I want to be BETTER THAN THEM. I stopped being a Jehovah's Witness and became Christian. :)
BTW I still am a Jehovah's witness (lower case "w") But not a Jehovah's Witness with a capital "W" for Witness!!!(but it must be lower case -- it's a bit like The Church, or Church, Catholic or Christian... you know what I mean.) but I am a Jesus' witness too , notice the lower case "w." Because I think there are people who call themselves Jesus' Witnesses with a capital W -- I am not one of those either!
Sorry to get down to technicallities. If you don't understand me, just message me or reply on my thread.
...But I am a Christian -- no label... like in the good old days of Christ! :D Read http://www.bible.ca -- which talks about Christianity without a label! Really well written, even though it's trinitarian! :) Goodness! I wish I could find the link for it.... But it's on there somewhere. -

My wife is thinking of quitting the "truth"!
by Goldminer in.
last night my wife said she was thinking about quitting the truth.she says she finds it too hard with me having doubts and not wanting to be a jw anymore.she has also been burned by her few jw friends, and the rest are either disfellowshipped or getting divorced.it's really hard to build lasting relationships with such people in the religion.. another positive factor is that she has made 2 good "worldly" friends over the past year.i think she's starting to see that people on the outside can be nice, have morals and accept others as they are.. i hope in time she starts feeling good about this decision and that i can slowly show her the many errors of the wts.so far she agrees with many of the things i've told her but still believes it's the truth.it's a hard battle but i never tought i'd hear her say those words.. btw,she finally called a local elder to see if he can help me with my many questions.he's coming over tonight so it should be quite interesting.i think he'll be a little surprised at some of the direct questions i have;i'm also hoping that after a while he decides there's not much hope for me and just labels me an apostate and starts talking about df'ing me.that would show my wife their attitude towards answering questions that have no scriptural answers.. anyways,i'll do my best to keep you all up-dated.it can be hard to post as my wife diesn't know i come here on a regular basis.. goldminer

DID YOU KNOW THIS about the BIBLE?
by Terry inthe oldest manuscripts are not considered the most reliable.. there are no "autograph" texts.
none.. there are no "original" manuscripts.. no two manuscripts agree.. the bible as we know it only came together in the form it now holds because certain men decided it should do so.. neither jesus nor his apostles or disciples carried bibles.. the apostle paul didn't carry a bible and none of his letters were in any of the scrolls considered holy scripture at the time he was preaching and forming christian theology as it is now understood to be.. largely, what the bible is today, is the result of certain men with certain agendas who had the authority to make their project happen.
they also had the power to destroy writings which did not agree with their agenda.

Terry. I went to the Catholic New Advent site. It only talks about no 2 Latin text that are alike.
http://www.newadvent.org
make it seem that every Bible manuscript is disputed! Obviously they
are only talking about Old Latin texts! They weren't talking about the
Hebrew texts, or the Septuagint texts. Obviously the Greek Scriptures
(NT) were translated into Greek first and THEN came all the faults when
it came into Latin!
Notice
how they say that some texts are better than others. It just so happens
to be the European on is the best out of the lot of them.40 manuscripts is not that much anyway. There are 5000 Greek Scripture manuscripts that are in existence today!
T his
is like that interesting site http://www.bible.ca (anti JW, which is largely quite a good site you should check it out if you don't already know about it!!!) site quotes in full
the texts that supposedly don't support the trinity! The Watctower
takes it out of context and lie to all the JW's in that "Should you
believe in a trinity" brochure! I am not saying you are
like them, because you probably made a mistake. But it's amazing what
harm can be done when you take something or someone out of context! We all do that at times. -

Will Prince last as a Witness?
by inquirer inor will he have egg on his face like michael jackson?
cliff richards, i believe was a jehovah's witness and he didn't last either!
by the way, did you know that dave mustaine's mum was a jehovah's witness?
-
inquirer
Sassy --
Prince actually attends a congregation where I know some of the people.. of course I have no contact with them any more..
When he first became a witness, it sure seemed he was under the brain control... and his cd that came out then, reflected it as well..
I think he put out another one though since.. and from the way his tour was handled.. I had to wonder how long he'd be staying a witness now..

So tell me what is the name of the congregation he attends! :D I heard that Batdance tune he brought out recently! I like it! :) Not bad! :) But would think that is satanic these days, wouldn't he! :(
