@Hellrider,
But try to ask yourself this question (and I know this is a weird example, but it`s the one that comes to mind right now): Let`s say that your arm is cut off, and laying on the floor. Is that arm you, or is it your arm? It`s your arm, and not you. Now, let`s say that human beings were created differently, that we had head and no brain, and that what we now call our "brain" is running thru our blood, just like our blood cells. If your arm is then cut off, and laying on the floor, is that arm then you, or not?
inquirer -- It's no longer apart of me physically unless someone stitches it back on for me! And then I'd look like a pirate -- judging from where you come from, I am sure you would understand such things! :D lol !! Arrr matey! :)
It's not a weird example, because I have a bit of pirate in me as well -- I am part Norwegian! ;)

Hellrider,
I didn't mean to shout before, I just wanted that text to be noticed by you and everyone else, I didn't think of it at the time, but now I've changed the font size, so it doesn't matter.
No intention was made to make your ID be spelt with a lower case "h" before either. -

Jehovah's Witnesses-Trinity Quandary & Quantum Theory]
I've looked at your website before and have actually thought about this myself. But if people understood their Bibles and all these concepts, the council of Nicaea would be unnecessary and we'd never need to contemplate the idea of Quantum Physics regardless if God is "3 in 1" or "1 in 1."
I like to break down things simply -- like with a little child putting a square-shaped object, in a triangle hole -- it won't fit, because it's not suppose to be there. Simbolically, with pre-school shape boards, we could symbolically think of the different shapes representing different entities in heaven. Maybe the square presents Jesus Christ, the circle Jehovah God, and all the other shapes represent angels with different status like with the Archangel Gabriel. Now, there's only one shape that represents one entity. You can't put the square shape in the circle shape because they are of different rank and when you try to change "the roles" of who's who, it simply won't fit.
Trinitarism comes a long and cheats and starts using philosophy to change all the shapes. And because it's possible for God to do anything, it's possible for all the shapes to change size and width to adjust to this trinity concept.
I like the idea that the JW's say regarding Quantum Physics -- the Bible is not a science text book, it's only interested with human affairs.
Find me a Scripture that relates God to Quantum Physics. I'd be really interested in that! ...But really, can't you see this disproves your argument? Because now you are seeking the answer of science to answer your questions about the Bible! Many times science and religion are at odds with each other. But, although anything with God is possible, God doesn't apply this concept to himself about quantum physics, infact, his angels are his messages. He just sends out his "troops" do accomplish his work. This cancels out the idea of Quantum Physics, right? An "angel of the Lord" appeared to Mary and Joseph, right? Not God sitting on his throne and coming down too.
I guess I have mixed feelings for what you say in the argument...
@Hellrider. Originally, YHWH wasn`t even the first god, or the "creator of everything", and hence, not even creator of the other gods, or himself. Eventually, YHWH would take the place as the "one and only" god, but him having a name, would eventually become an embarassment, because it was a remnant from the time he was only one god among many others.
Are you kidding me! Doesn't sound like you a Christian to me! Who created Adam and Even then? Satan? Michael? I find it incredible that you don't see a dilemma in what he is saying about the Jewish monotheism and Christianities "3 in 1" God. Why would God say to the Jews "God is 1 in 1" and to the Christians "3 in 1" God?
You made the statement in your post about having "JWisms." What's wrong with that?! If they teach a correct statement, there is no need to change my theology just because I originally learnt it from JW's! This is one of the more absurd things from former JW's! Please be sensible about such things, it makes our arguments against their doctrines invalid! I say this statement to everyone on the board!!!
--General statement-- I don't know why it took them 225 or so years at the Council of Nicaea to solve this problem if a trinity. They should have solved this problem long before. And it's even more stupid by the fact that Christianity was hijacked by authoritarian Christianity, where people lost their Christendom freedom and having to adjust to this new view of God. And I can gurantee all of you on this board, once something is instituted, the idea never goes away. It gets carried through all the eras and now up in the 21st century we are still talking about it. This is something that Barnabas Ministries book "Debunking the Myths of Sacred Namers" goes on about when mentions a popular myth of who and when God's name was translated into English. And still, the myth never dies to this day. Like the trinity. People didn't have a problem with what they believed before that day, but this authoritarian Christianity demands us to believe in this concept? What ever happened to Arius and his followers? Aren't we allowed to form ideas like what he did? I mean, 90% of Christianity believe in the trinity. Christian climate doesn't accept our point of view of the nature of God. Having 95% of Bibles translate John 1:1 as "God" instead of "a god" doesn't make it right. It merely expresses common belief of the trinity as I just mentioned!

The Trinity... "the fountain, the trinity, the pilgrims are searching for blood (background vocals: SEARCHING FOR YOUR BLOOD -- from the Album "Chemical Wedding")..." :)
Sorry, I can't stop singing. But I always wonder why the Jews never contemplate anything remotely of a trinity and then this weird Christianity comes a long, and can't understand potentially very simple Scriptures like John 1:1 and invent this strange thing called the trinity because they couldn't understand that Scripture. It contradicts everything in the Old Testament, it has to be wrong. And now people are saying that "Michael" is not Jesus, and this gives even less proof of a trinity. I think to bash the J dubs because they put "a" in front of God in John 1:1 is ridiculous! If you are going to bash an organization like that build up a much larger case of evidence than that! But arguments rarely go beyond this point and that is their reason for rejecting the J dub's New World Translation.
It's ok for the majority of Christianity to celebrate Christmas and Easter (which is impossible to trace in the Bible) but if you add just one letter that disproves a word that isn't in the Bible, you are cast aside as unorthodox, unchristian and so forth. I had my reasons for not joining anymore chuches after the J dubs, but this is another good reason not to join them! They are so bitter and twisted!
Even heard Hellrider here, say "throw out the NWT!" I wouldn't even throw out the NIV and yet I hate that so much! Why not through out the Inspired Version by the Mormons? They changed so many versions in that translation it's unbelievable, but I never even heard that translation even mentioned on the board.
I think the JW's have serious doctrinal problems, but seriously, everybody should examine their own religions first before picking out a "log in someone else's eye."
Some Christian religions go off to war and that's something I could never contemplate myself. But if the JW's did it, it would be given the same treatment as Muslims are today.
I am sorry for going off topic, but I sincerely don't know why people don't argue logically with their arguments against JW's. That is one thing I disagree with a lot of "apostates" like myself.
One more thing, I read about the Good News Bible (on bible-researcher.com) is called "the bloodless Bible" because any references that says "blood of Christ" he replaces with "sacrificial death of Christ." I wonder how much trouble the Watchtower would be in if they did that to their Bible? There would be blood on the streets I think! -

last days?
by mjs mouse, ben inrecently overheard some jw relatives talking, the term we're in the "last days of the last days" was being used frequently, i didn't want to ask them, it would of turned into an argument.
wtf does this imply?
is anyone else hearing this?

I honestly wish it was the last days, and it's a shame the JW's were wrong about it. I think "this world has had it's day," in my opinion.

Today's sermon at my church - my notes
by mrsjones5 intitle: recongnizing the voice of god - first john .
1john 4:1-4: 1dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from god, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
2this is how you can recognize the spirit of god: every spirit that acknowledges that jesus christ has come in the flesh is from god, 3but every spirit that does not acknowledge jesus is not from god.

In some ways John was too different to the Synoptic Gospels, but boy did he same some interesting things.
This Scripture mrsjones5 is one of the best Scriptures in the whole Bible -- IT SAYS EVERYTHING WE NEED TO KNOW ALMOST!!
1 John 4:1 Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world.
I feel like quoting that Scripture after disproving 607 BC to a JW and say "goodbye" like Tom Baker on Doctor Who! :)

How Did Watching Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" Make You Feel?

for those of you who watched it, how did it make you feel?

Thanks Heathen.
It seems like my posts are like anti-Catholic* at the moment. But it's more about supression of mainstream religions and cults like JW's. I believe relgions that get involved with charities like the Salvation Army here in Australia do a lot of good work.
And to me, I'd feel uncomfortable with the added "Catholic ingredients" with the Passion of the Christ, because it's not in the Gospels... If there were 1 or 2 things -- yeah, that's ok. But looking at that list, it tells the Catholic Passion, not the New Testament/Greek Scripture Passion.
Let it be noted, Catholics are good scholars and I pick that up quite a lot with their New American Bible. I love it! 2nd best Bible now for me. And they are more likely to mention God's name in their Bibles that Protestants. But every denomination has it's good and bad. Apocrypha or not. :D
So with all the organized Christian religions, they do good and bad things. If you were a "newbie" to Christianity, Passion of the Christ might be a good movie to see. I am sure it would because Hollywood makes anything look good even with the anti-religious sediment against religions like Christianity. As one of the many coniseurs on this board, you can't watch it without finding historical inaccuracies.
On the other hand, Mel brought a lot of people in the churches which opens up the doors to people learning about God. Good for them. How they handle church authority is yet another thing.
Also, regarding my copy and paste from Wikipedia -- anything from that www site has to at least largely be true, because it's open to the public for editing.
_______________
Footnote --
*There are many Catholics in Australia [Australia is half Protestant and half Catholic -- slightly more Protestant -- correct me if I am wrong] (and celebrities like Nicole Kidman, Current Affair presenter Ray Martin and Burt Newton to all the Australia people on this board and on that note Tom Baker {Doctor Who -- 4th doctor} was brought up as a Catholic monk in the early part of his life) that I have meant and are just normal people trying to make a decent life for themselves; whom I have often found to be friendly, decent, caring people. I don't judge them because of Northern Ireland and stupid stuff like that, the blame is on both sides -- are you apart of the problem or the solution? Don't want to go into details... Maybe in the past the Catholics forced people to conform their religion, but I've never seen people force me to be Catholic unlike the JW's with their religion. All these things I say are for other religions as well.

I could also add to that list about the divide in rich and poor -- they suck up to the rich people in the church and give them status of elder and ministerial servant and "tell the poor person to side at the back seat." I always wonder how they can justify being wealthy and having many belongings. This Scripture always comes to my mind.
Luke 18:18-23 And a certain ruler questioned him, saying: "Good Teacher, by doing what shall I inherit everlasting life?" 19 Jesus said to him: "Why do you call me good? Nobody is good, except one, God. 20 You know the commandments, 'Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother.'" 21 Then he said: "All these I have kept from youth on." 22 After hearing that, Jesus said to him: "There is yet one thing lacking about you: Sell all the things you have and distribute to poor people, and you will have treasure in the heavens; and come be my follower." 23 When he heard this, he became deeply grieved, for he was very rich.
People pick and choose their own doctrines out of the Bible -- and if it sounds bad they ignore it! People don't want to face the truth!
And I'll tell you I've seen many rich Witnesses that have such a bad attitude and look down at all the battlers of society!
