I saw another picture of the NY Bethel, on street level... most pictures I see look too far away... it's all about perception... But it made me realize how huge those JW buildings are NY!!! THEY ARE BLOODY GIGANTIC!!!!! They look bigger than America! :O

WITH AN ARISTOCRATIC ENGLISH ACCENT
ARISTOCRAT 1: Would you like a cup of dear my dear?
ARISTOCRAT 2: Oh yeah, that would be lovely.
ARISTOCRAT 1: After our little drink, let's give those worldly people a hard time. They are so uncivilized that lot!
ARISTOCRAT 2: Yars, indeeeed. -

What's the point of being a JW if you are not guaranteed of paradise anyway
by inquirer ini remember talks at the "kingdom ministry" meeting.
and at times, you'd hear talks (in a past tense) about why so and so didn't make it in paradise.
and they'd say dumb things like "oh, he pinoeered, he gave good talks, but he didn't make it because he was a drinker.

Whoa! I thought I had it bad! I should put things into perspective!
THEY ARE A BLOODY TERRORIST GROUP! (I mean that too!)
I can't help thinking of that Doom game. :) At the end this guy says "DIE, YOU IMBREDDED RENEGADE OF A WEREWOLF!" -

"I can't stop thinking about Jehovah's Witnesses!"
by logansrun ini've heard this said by a few ex-witnesses in my three years away from the organization, and have sometimes said it myself.
sometimes it is said in the context of, "i'd like to move on, but i just can't stop thinking about them.
could it not be that one of the reasons ex-jws "can't stop thinking about" the organization -- and their past involvement with it -- is that they daily log onto this site, read about the society and talk about them?

People are on here because we gain so much knowledge. :) I have read the financial statements about JW's thanks to this site. Found about the UN involvement and all that. People like this site because there is a lot of good people on here. So other message boards... you know they are hostile. This one isn't! :)

And they'd say dumb things like "oh, he pinoeered, he gave good talks, but he didn't make it because he was a drinker." Or something dumb like that. They'd give examples of these people that "spearheaded" the ministry that set a prime example. And then because of what bad thing (Or some minor offense) and they are eternally cut off! SO WITH TALKS LIKE THAT YOU'D WONDER WHY ANYONE WOULD WANT TO BE JEHOVAH'S WITNESS! YOU'D THINK THAT JEHOVAH IS EVIL (SIC)! WHICH IS DEFINETLY NOT TRUE! Do any of you remember in typical cult talks like that? They even tell people not to go beyond the scriptures! Jehovah is the judge isn't he! ...PETE'S SAKE! Maybe we should remind people on our sites not to become JW's because of this "sending [people to hell" stuff. Because that's the same sort of thing really -- Damned of not living for a whole eternity!!! SAme thing.....

Would you have quit the JW's for a Worldly Person you loved?
by JH inwhen you were a devout jw, and if you would have met a man/women that really pleased you, would you have quit the jw organization for that person, if he/she asked you to?
-
inquirer
Yes, because being a JW doesn't guarantee you paradise! So why not run with it! :)

badboy,
YES!!! INDEED!!! That's why when I went back a 2nd time a year ago, I didn't stay there long!
My mum (who always goes psycho when I go on the negative against JW's) even admits it! Even though she still likes to defend the borg (even though she doesn't go to meetings!) She tried to go last time with me and she wasn't very impressed!
EVERYTHING IS A CONSCIENCE MATTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's as weak as dishwater!!!! -

This is one of those "that's gotta hurt" (like in pro wrestling) topics.
Yeah! It's affected my psychology! It's ruined my life! I find it too upsetting to talk on here just now, but I'll make a Simpons comparison... Remember "Uncie Herb." He was rich, cool and smooth talker. He loved talking to Homer and the rest of his family. He assumed he didn't have a brain the size of a peanut. And so he got him to design a car for his company. Then you see Homer spinning around it at the trade show... and Uncie Herb's jaw dropped and screamed "I'M RUINED!!!!!!!"
That's how I feel about what the JW's did to me.
But I think other factors played apart in my life, but the JW's were the straw that broke the cammels' back. :(
The reason why I told you The Simpsons story, is because I always get humorous about things in my life, that's how I feel better. -

I wonder if it will happen in Australia too...
By the way, in Australia the Bethel site (I am relatively close to it) is in a dump suburb called Ingleburn. It use to be in Strathfield -- that's where all the books were burnt in World War 2. Now a largely Korean community lives there.
But Ingleburn, is kindy dumpy. Is the Canadian Bethel in a dumpy spot or is it a "downtown" spot? :)
