calling all young single men
by devinsmom inwew, well my divorce is finally...final, as of today and what a long hard road it has been, and unfortunatly more hardships are to come, since we have a child together.
my ex tried to delay it just yesterday by faxing a sloppy handwritten note to the judge, to tell him he couldnt make it because he doesnt have a license,(suspended for dwi) and hasnt attended any of the hearings at all.
he owes me over $5,000 for child support (deadbeat dad).

Papal ceremony fairly ludicrous for Christians?
by Qcmbr infor anyone who is a catholic stop reading now - i'm about to mini vent.
i don't doubt that the recently departed pope had many redeeming qualities and this post has nowt to do with him as a person.
i cannot get away from the fact that the pomp and ceremony of the catholic church (including the regalia) is so far away from the humble woodcarvers son and his example.

And did you see what Condoleeza Rice had on? You would think that she had known the Pope her entire life or something. I was halfway expecting her throw herself all over the Pope screaming, "Lord don't go!!! Oh Jesus! Jesus No! Don't go!" Then she would pass out and Laura Bush would have to fan her off.

Put Jehovah first.
Throw your burden upon Jehovah. Jehovah please take care of my $300 car note, while I skip work to Pioneer.
Make the Truth your own. Aside from a crappy kindgom melody, how the hell do you make the truth your own? You're supposed to make it the Society's. If you made it your own, you'd get disfellowshipped for apostacy... or something like that.
Humbility Some catch phrase my last DO came up with.

Has anyone seen Independence Day? With Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum, et al? Remember the scene before the final climatic scene, where the president gives the "we're gonna celebrate our independence" speech? Did dubs in your congregation say that was how "worldly" people would react during the battle of armaggedon against dubs?

Where you the little kiss @$$ who would more or less read the answer verbatum, but would also tie in a scripture?
Where you the one who would talk about something else not even mentioned in the article?
Where you the one who always tied in some personal experience that may or maynot even be remotely close to the subject matter?
Where you the one who commented on the picture?
Did you plan your comments out ahead of time?
Or did you come up with something two or three paragraphs ahead?
Did you always answer second or third so you could say, "in harmony with Brother or Sister so-and-so's comment"?

I Made Some Placements!!!!
by DocHayes infor the past few weeks at work, i've been talking with a co-worker about my life as jw, and the doctrine.
he was fairly interested since he had studied the dubs in the past.

During one of our discussions about religion, we got on the subject of Revelation. I told him about the Revelation book, and he wanted to see it. I went home and dug out my old publications, and found a Revelation book (albiet all marked up). I also let him borrow a copy of the Reasoning Book, OM Book, and NWT Bible.
Wow. Someone get me a field service slip. I'm gonna count an hour of field service too.

I've avoided the elders so far...but could this all change on SATURDAY?
by logansrun inwell, it has been almost three years since i silently and dramatically vanished from the world of the watchtower.
moving an hour away from my congregation's territory and not answering phone calls was all i needed to avoid having to wear the letter "a" on my chest.
but, that could all change this saturday.

Hey Brad,
Good to see you again. I've been a long time supporter of yours since you were on Timothy's page. I'm the EX-JW formerly known as E1SmokeEater.

Patriotism And All That..
by Englishman ini've noticed that ex dubbies tend to become quite patriotic once they've left the witnesses.
actually, scrub the patriotic, i mean very patriotic!.
it's odd really..we don't give much credence to king or country whilst we're in the dubby brigade, yet once we're out, we seem to become a bunch of flag waving scallywags with the best of them.. i wonder if we're using patriotism as a replacement for the loss of a controlling influence that we feel when we leave the witnesses?

Growing up as a minority in America I always felt that being patriotic was selling out. Despite being a JW, we still lived in the world and my felt the social and economic climate of the US is always against us. So it kinda felt like a Catch 22 type thing when it came to Patriotism.
I have traveled outside of the United States, and while I believe I could enjoy the same freedoms (if not better) than I do here- love it or leave it- America is my home. Being Native- America is my home. Less than a year after I officially Disassociated myself (albiet I stopped considering myself a JW for years prior to) , I enlisted in the Navy. I don't think it was out of a sense of flag-waving patriotism, than it was out of duty.
What is patriotism? Is it pride in a peice of cloth? An ideal? A government? An institution? Your culture? Growing up native (Tuscarora and Saponi), my mother instilled a sense of pride in our culture- although that went against JW teachings (probably a reason for me leaving). I suppose thats why I feel more of a connection to my culture, family, and community than I do the US of A. And in my eyes, the flag and USA represents that. And that I will defend.
Go Navy.
