  Last night at the book study 5 minutes spent on discussion about apostates

  things that were said.

  apostates want everyone to believe jehovah doesnt care about them and this was referred to as a satanic lie that apostates want you to believe and this satanic lie was even referred to in the prayer.

  (i really dont know where they got this or what exactly caused the society to publish this but this is what was said in the "draw close to jehovah" book).

  The KH makes weak people feel powerful, misfits belong and average people become all-knowing prophets of the future. Most JW's can't give up that drug. I only hope that the rank and file will summon up the guts to admit the social failure of their organization,ie; broken homes , shunned familes, wasted opportunites for education and economic` advancements, needless prohibited blood transfusion deaths, unhappy familes due to all the forced hours at the KH and the preaching work, warped kids who can't make friends, or have a normal childhood of sports and social activities- it goes on and on.

  What really gets the JW's is that the so-called apostates are enjoying life , succeeding and haven't ruined their life. I remember reading about how the Russians used propaganda films in the 30's showing gangsters in the US - the average Russian just asked themselves " if the US is so bad How come I see all these cars and stores and consumer goods- things we don't have? It was only after I left that I could see all the 'Kick me" signs on the arses of the rank and file.

  Anyone like me where you still believe in MOST of their doctrines?

  like i don't like that un involvment, record keeping.

  i don't know what to think about the paedophile stuff, because you could accuse the catholic church of that too.

  but apart from those things i still believe that god's name is jehovah, his son is jesus, no trinity, and he died on a torture stake... i love reading the new world translation, i believe it's the best one, but i love reading other translations too!

  I don't believe any of their doctrines- I studied with a Rabbi and found out why I was so confused by the NT Gospel teachings. Of course, I never bothered to ask any Jew what they teach about their Messiah, I just assumed that the Christian teaching about the Jewish Messiah matched what the Jews believed about the coming Messiah in the 1st century-NOT!

  he doesn't rely on scientific discoveries or explanations to deny that the flood happened, he uses his own logic.

  I believe that recently scientists drilled an ice core in Greenland to bedrock- 2 miles down through the ice cap.Ice can be dated with ring markings just like a tree. The dates were over 100,000 yrs old. Doesn't water melt ice ? Obviously no flood in greenland for at least 100,000 yrs. Shalom, moshe

  Dissing the WTS

  i came to a stark realisation, this week, and it's simply this: i no longer feel any need to use derogatory terms about the wts.. i had closure, from leaving the jws, when i da'ed january 2002. around that time i accepted it as being a "cult", whereas before i used the term "high-control group".

  i started using terms such as "borg" and "dub", to describe the wts and jws, and i really do think that helped the process of extracting indoctrinated ideas.. i hate what is being done in the name of that religion, but i see that in other religions, too.

  other than the briefest of moments, i've seen fairly clearly that getting angry or obsessive about a corporate entity is a little futile.

  WE all heal in different ways- mine started on a Saturday morning in June of 1989, in Land-o-Lakes, FL.,when 2 elders paid a shepherding call on the Mrs. - poor wife had to live with an ex-JW who was happy to be out- Anyway, I was tired of all the meddling- and the frequent elder visits- I was ready and while Bro. Shawver was inside the house I slid a nice copy of penthouse magazine I had lifted from work-( the one about Rev. Swaggert's escapades) under the front seat of his Caddy- I wonder how he explained that to Sr. Zealous when it slid out during field service? I never told anyone about that until now. Confession is good for the soul they say :-)

  When I first started to meditate about this about 10 yrs after I left the WTBS I had an epiphany :-) (not allowed at the KH)- G-d just told his people at Mt Sinai his laws and rules- this is it! No real explanation for why some things were unclean or why this was prohibited, etc. G-d just gave his laws--period.! But when you read the Christian NT what do you see? Page after page of "human reasoning" to convince you of the change in G-d's laws. Think about it.

  Dropping attendance and disolving congregations

  well, i came across a couple of interesting pieces of news yesterday, that i thought you would all find encouraging.

  while i was standing in line at macdonald?s yesterday morning, i ran into a couple of jws from the other side of town.

  they were up in my area because (not surprisingly) they were laying tiles at a local bar and the work had to be done on sunday morning.

  From my experience it's when a publisher moves to a new area that he uses the opportunity to do his quiet "exit, stage left" and disappear from the WT radarscope. That's how my ex-wife left - not me, I raised a ton of h-ll. The elders learned too late they shouldn't have helped hide my kids from their "apostate" Dad. The next meeting I was in front of the KH with a bullhorn asking every publisher "do you know who is hiding my kids" - made for an unpleasant newbies 1st KH meeting!

  Then I plastered the 1000 neighbors houses with fliers -missing kids being hidden by the local KH- please help!" The kids got sent home a week later.

  Seems like the district assembly meetings are in smaller venues,too.

  i m afraid because they may control her mind (my daughter has 3 years old).

  The problem as I see it is that in time the elders and the organization will become the childs "father" . When the child needs answers to life's questions ,they will be provided from the KH and the elders- good 'ol Dad will become just a provider of material stuff. Invite the elders over and ask them who the head of the home is. When they say "the husband," then tell them what your rules are with your child going to KH. If they go behind your back, let them know there will be "consequences".

  Thanks for all the good vibes. Not like one other forum ,T-er-w-tch.! Judasim can be as restrictive or open as you want. We don't keep Kosher in our home, but don't eat pork. We do eat chesseburgers! Reform Temples would be the most easygoing-Orthodox the hardest. Conservative (ours) in the middle. I like Rabbi Harold Kushners books- they give a a good feeling for Jewish thinking- "when bad things happen to good people" is probably his most well known.

  I never could fit in a Christian church- my 2nd wife was pentecostal- never could see the speaking in tongues. My first JW wife divorced me in '89- after I left the organization. She finally saw her way out a few years ago- My present and "last" wife has been Jewish all her life. I did see how the WTBS had co-opted the OT verses to fit the Messiah of their religion, just like every other Christian religion. No one ever thinks to ask a Jew what they teach the Messiah to be- I found that www.messiahtruth.com to give some good info about the Jewish idea of Messianic prophecy. But I am not here to convert anyone- Conversion is not an easy undertaking - Judaism wants you to live a moral life- and aren't you doing that already ;-)

  Thanks for the welcome. To answer some questions. I started dating a Jewish lady in 1999- we got married in 2000 and decided to convert in 2001. We belong to a consevative temple. I think that most Jews consider Messianic Jews to be practicing Christians. Anyway, I was a JW for 16 yrs-and elder for a few and annulled my membership by letter to the WTBS in 1988. Like many I went back to the orthodox Christianity I was raised in, but with some reservations. I figured I would find the answers later. The turning point for me was the book "the five gospels", by the Jesus seminar in 1994. They did another book "the acts of Jesus" in 1998. I quit beliving in Christianity and the total veracity of the Nt scriptures about 1996. I am open to all faiths ,if it helps to explain G-d to you. If JW's would stop shunning folks and quit killing innocents with their blood transfusion rules I would have no major issues with them- live in peace- and let me sleep in on Sat. morning, too.
