The genographic project uses familytreedna to do the tests- go directly to them, save money and match up with your lost ancestors/cousins in their huge database- it worked for me.

I found three cousins who are related to me, going back to common ancestors in the 1700's- my branch ended up in illlinois, another in Missouri, another in Utah/idaho and another in West Virginia- all were famers moving to a new place with opportunities for land.- another branch stayed in Kentucky, but it died out without any male heirs around WW2. My branch has been skimpy for 100 years and my son is the last male- with no kids. The Missouri branch has come to a dead end with the last male being in his 70's. The branch in Utah/Idaho will keep growing and growing in size.- why?- they are Mormons.

hello folks.... so after a year of fading (some ups & downs), reading, researching and even praying....i'm starting to think i'm agnostic.... there are a couple things i'm having a hard time understanding:.

1. what's the real purpose of life and creation?

so we're created to live a perfect life, two clowns over 6000 years ago made a mistake and everyone is paying for it, although no fault of our own?.

- and just how, pray tell, did they come to know this? Genesis is either factual or full of allegory/metaphor. History and science weight in on the side of the latter.

It caused a number of sleepless nights for me, I can tell you. Initially, I assumed that the WTS would sooner or later acknowledge this and correct their stance, but when I thought about it more and more, I realized that they'd already painted themselves too far into the Genesis-as-literal-history corner. To reverse their position on evolution would require them to rewrite huge swaths of JW theologyAnd this was, in fact, confirmed for me in an Awake! issue about a year after I had my little epiphany; they basically acknowledged that if evolution were true, Genesis could only be an allegory (and thusly the foundation of JW Christianity would be completely undermined; i.e., no Adam, therefore no Adamic Sin, therefore no need for Jesus' Ransom, therefore no need for Christianity, at least as the WT defined it)

The WT writers know they have to ignore this ancient human stuff- or risk stampeding the horses out of the KH. So, as long as JWs don't personally see the theological paradox with neanderthals, they can continue providing the meat in due season just like always, to a slavish membership.

The tracts pose a question- implying the JW is interested in your opinion-- WHICH is certainly not true. The householder will find out the JW is going to diss his opinion, and harangue them with 10 minutes of WT drivel.

for some reason my neighborhood gets worked over by the jws constantly.

they are here every week going up and down the streets.

it's a comfortable, safe neighborhood with nice houses.

I would have said-- "you got a cellphone?- call that man right now and let me talk to him"- but you are right, the JWs run away from anyone they even suspect is loaded with ammo to shoot their religion down.

does the jw religion rest on "insider information" or not?.

the average rank and file member believes this is true.. there is a "magical" belief about the faithful and discreet slave.. it is muddled, of course.. "how do they know?".

they just know..... the fds with the hotline to heaven likes to revisit old ideas and fluff them up like a pillow.. the dog whistle is a device only heard by dogs.

When I talked to Charlie on the telephone a few years ago he wasn't even a teensy bit aplogetic about what he said in that talk- in fact he had an arrogant attitude,. I wonder if he has any momentary subconscious flashes of "what if only I had pursued my Hollywood singing career" back in the 50's. I hope so- because, you reap what you sow.

Wallkill is it a Commune?

after reading how many people live at the wallkill facility, it made me ask the above question.

after looking up what 'commune' meant in secular sources, it seems that wallkill has all the hallmarks necessary to actually be a commune.

meals complete with assigned seats and required attendance, dress requirements, wake up times, music and tv restrictions, work assignments, heirarchy making all decisions, no money being earned by the workers, the vow of poverty.....

It's a balancing act in a real commune- the spiritual leader milks the followers for all he can get, without pissing them off so that they don't quit giving him free stuff/money and free work.-In exchange he tells them they can have all the sex with each other that they want.

What personal experiences have you had with 6th sense?

i was at work one day at a seafood wholesaler (some years ago).

there was considerable tension in the air.. another worker briefly left the workplace.

he could simply have gone to the toilet or for a smoke.. without seeing where he'd gone, or what he was doing, or hearing what he was saying, i instinctively knew he had instead gone upstairs to see a particular manager.

We were out shopping for graduation and birthday cards last week on Wednesday and I picked up a "send some sunshine your way' card. I looked at it. put it back, came back to it, looked at it again and handed it to my wife." I think we need to send this to your stepmother" ( a widow now, her father had died 15 months ago)- "Why, she replied? we just sent her a Mother's day card". We went back and forth- finally she said OK , we'll save it for the future. Two days later we get a call from her stepmother-- she had just had a needle biospy done and she has localized breast cancer and needs surgery to remove it. My wife says- how did you know we needed that card?
