  i was shocked to learn this weekend that a notoriously serial killer, a man who murdered and disembowelled in the order of 13 women, now claims to be one of jehovah's witnesses.

  1 Kings 16 talks about the atrocities committed by King Ahab as being worse than all of the fiendish things that all of the evil kings had done before. He sacraficed his own little children to Ba'al, rolling them down a ramp into a furnace, burning them alive. He set up like worship throughout the entire kingdom. Some of the other things he was responsible for are too vile to even be mentioned on this forum.

  God's response? He had him captured and after he spent time incarcerated and 'repented', God restored him to the throne of Israel.

  I'm not sure that a murderer, if repentant, would be given any less consideration by this God.

  at one time i would have been quite impressed with the christian love that our brothers showed.

  now i see that their primary concern was themselves--i saw very little concern for non-witnesses.

  This is part of the split personality disorder that I am sure affect all devout JW's to a larger of smaller degree. How else can you explain it? How can people who seem to be so loving and caring and loyal turn their back on their neighbors and only think of themselves in time of dire need?

  when i was a kid, my mother wouldn't let me watch a program called chocky.

  for those of you who live outside the uk, and those who didn't even know about this childrens program if you lived in the uk, .

  in revelation 11 the two witnesses are given power to prophesy for 1260 days dressed in sackcloth.. in verse 7 they are killed, in verse 11 they are resurrected .

  do you remember what book and when the earliest application of this scripture to the president of the society and i think the vice president occurred ?

  i believe they said it occurred in 1918 or 1919. can you believe they thought the nations and all the earth were attuned to their little group and that a couple of them thrown in prison meant that they had fullfilled this prophecy.

  Hi, disciple.

  Yeah, I remember that but don't remember what publication it was in originally. Even as a kid I remember thinking this was a very dumb thing for them to assert given the huge things going on in the world at the time, and two conscientious objectors going into the clink was the fulfillment of the history altering scripture? There were a lot of people who went into prison for their beliefs at that time, and worse. But, it is really one of the WTBTS idiosyncrasies to paint anything that happens to them as being so much more important than anything that happens to outsiders.

  It really used to piss me off how they stated that Jews who were slaughtered under Hitler were not martyrs but the JW's were. This is because, supposedly, in order to be a martyr one had to have a choice or not as to whether or not they would die for their beliefs and the Jews would have been rounded up anyhow and had no choice. I guess that means that Stephen of the bible was not a martyr either, because I really don't think he had any choice in his fate; the mob was going to find some way to stone him one way or another.

  Looks like you saw it all for baloney too. LOL

  Big News on Shroud of Turin

  yes, in 1988, jws were so happy to learn that carbon dating proved the shroud of turin was a fake from the middle ages ... yes, once again, jehovah's alleged organization was forward moving in its truth ... ahhhh ... but wait!

  it turns out, that while the carbon dating was accurate, it was not understood that the 1988 test inadvertantly used a repair patch from the 1300's.

  so, yes, the carbon dating would show this date.

  i seem to remember back in my jw days, a scripture that said something to the effect that if you publicly denounce jehover, you would never be forgiven of it?

  i really want to bring this up to my ever-persistant family as a good reason for me not to come back to meetings and try to be reinstated.

  i have already told them that i will never, ever, ever come back, that i don't even believe in god per-se.

  Actually asked a question about this during a Watchtower Study years ago. My ex's face went ashen and it was a struggle with 'bro kiss-up' for control of the mic so that I could finish my question. It was pretty funny. Because of that question, and the way that the brother conducting the study answered it so poorly, there were a lot of after meeting discussions going on with the many bible studies that had been brought to the hall that morning. Oh and one beating going on in the back room; mine...
