Entertainment that has not been banned is at a premium for these sexually deprived JW Men. With as many things that they can't do, it is nice to know that a little plastic surgery to spice up the old ball and chain is still 'legal'.

never is there any real personal correspondence from them and it irritates me.
i have sent emails back before critiquing the logic of some of their emails.. i will be sending a response to this latest one ,and i would appreciate some ideas .. i know many of you on this forum are so excellant with your words i would enjoy your input .. the first thing that came to my mind after i read the illustration was "i am so glad i am no longer on the endless tread mill of witness logic that has you running forever from scary imaginary spirit beings ".

Dear Mom.
Thanks for your email. I must admit that I'm having a hard time understanding why you would send me this little fairytale. Was this supposed to be for my two-year-old daughter? Oh, that's right; I don't have a two-year-old daughter so this must have been meant for me. Do you think I am two? I know your reasoning skills have been severely stunted by years under strict mind-numbing control so that you think this makes sense somehow, but can you please attempt to communicate with me on the level of an adult? Do you send me this stuff because the only way left to defend the organizations life-robbing demands of faithfulness in spite of years of failed promises and prophecies is to abdicate responsibility for your own reasoning and you actually buy into this crap?
Seriously, Mom, you have a brain; it's just been turned off. I know that you could make up a better analogy than this one yourself. You were creative and loving once, you used to love to read and choose your own music. You loved to keep up with current affairs and could put up an intelligent defense for your own positions. Any argument you could come up with yourself would be sure to be more convincing and poignant than this Stepford JW Wife mindless drivel. Give it a try! Turn that incredible mind back on and think for yourself. Get mad at me and shout, but do it in your own words!
I anxiously await your response.
Love,
J

It's funny reading that document. I've been gone for almost 16 years now, and yet, that could have been published back then or even in the '70's for that matter. It seems like they are stuck in their own little bubble still... no real response to current issues... same old childish reasoning patterns encouraged... same old circular arguments... same vague, factless 'true stories'...
It's amazing, really.
The bit on teaching how to 'research'... I remember the last time it was addressed there was an 'approved' list of publications that witnesses should use for research, which really isn't research at all, but, whatever.
The WTS society approach to allowing witnesses to really research outside this approved list reminds me of Baghdad Bob. Remember him? About a day before troops rolled into Baghdad he was on TV saying, 'There are no troops in Iraq.' I can see the Gooberning Body saying to the 'faithful', "There is no good information outside of the approved books we tell you to use! There is no good Internet information... it's all lies and apostates!! Do not look behind the curtain!!!"
*sigh*

Hey, JB. Long time no see! That is a beautiful song. Did they bring a choir with them? To sing background? The choir makes the song.
Hi, Flyin. Sorry, I been busy in the non-computer world. :)
Actually, they opened for Journey at the Concord Pavillion in Concord, CA. It was a great show, but there was no choir. Didn't know they had one!
(continues to groove with the tunes...)

EVER FIGHT AN INSURANCE COMPANY??
by Mary inas many of you know, my brother in law is fighting a life-threatening disease and the chances of him surviving, are slim.
my sister has been off on short term disability since june, since she's in no shape to work.
she's worked for the same company for 32 years and has probably taken 5 sick days during the entire time she's worked there.

Mary,
Snakes is right. There are two people who can assist your sister, a lawyer working with her doctor are your best bet. The amount of assistance your sisters company is going to be able to offer is going to depend on if this company is fully or self-insured for STD/LTD. Your sister can call her benefits department and find out by obtaining a Summary Plan Description (SPD). In the US, companies are required by law to provide this document if requested. If the plan is self-funded, the company Benefits Manager can work with the insurance company as well and find out what is going on that they would approve the Short Term for payment and now begin to kick and scream once LTD is approaching.
One possibility is that the STD is self-insured, thus it is the companies decision whether or not to pay, and the LTD is fully-insured thus it is the decision of the claims manager at the insurance company and the insurance company does not agree with the decision of your sisters benefits department to pay.
I play the goof-ball here, but in the real world, I manage benefits plans both self and fully-insured, some exceeding 35 million dollars, for international companies. This fight has to be very well organized and you will have a limited number of appeals through the insurance company before you will be forced to sue for this benefit. In my experience, suits take many years and in the meantime, the person may be forced back to work to support themselves in spite of great exacerbation of their condition. This then gives the insurance company fuel to fight the lawsuit since the claimant is working. A well organized appeal with the insurance company (if this is a fully insured LTD plan) with the direction of a disability lawyer working with your sister's doctor. I cannot overemphasize the need to work with the doctor on this and make him/her understand that this is not about getting a form filled out quickly, it is about carefully documenting the disorder/disability and listing strong medical opinions backed up with history and diagnosis within the file including office notes if necessary.
If I can help in any way, send me a pm.
Best regards,
Jean

In the past, they printed this poison when sisters, seeing what their choices were if they stayed within the cong, began leaving for greener pastures in droves.

This is a great thread, Flyin. I love that Foreigner song, I Want To Know What Love Is. Hubby and I saw them in concert about five years ago, they've still got it after all these years.

Well, here is one ex-jw who has no intention of bashing the wts... honestly, Vilot, why would you think that any ex-jw would bash them? They are grumpy, frustrated old men who would not be invited to any bash if you asked me. Afterall, bashes are dreadfully expensive to throw, one decent bottle of Glenlivit costs upward of $40.00 in my shrinking US Dollars and a half-way decent bash requires many bottles of Glenlivit, sparkling wine, a good band.. the costs skyrocket from there. Inviting the wts would ruin the entire thing. They'd mope about telling everyone they will die at Armageddon, catch a disease from listening to the band and the like, but they'd be sure to grab as much of the booze before leaving as they could.
Honestly...
I find this entire thread to be a joke!
Bash the wts? Not me!
(Hi, Hammy.)

Is it really just innocent words?
by lonestar63 infrom what i've read on here, i understand many of you have a certain amount of anger over the way the society controlled every aspect of your lives.
thats understandable.
i still have a bit, even though my fade is complete.. that being said, i think everyone on here has a goal to help those that are still trapped inside the mind controlling cult.

My first reaction to the posts on this site when I 'stumbled' onto it was, "Run, Baby... Run!" In spite of that initial reaction, I still wanted to find a 'safe' place to talk to people who had lost everything and everyone by leaving the (I'd say "Borg" but given the nature of this thread, don't think it quite right) WTS... so, I found a much more innocuous site to visit, Women Awake I think it was, and then Tishies board... more of a beginners step.
Although initially my "bible trained conscience" was repulsed by some of the comments made here, eventually the curiosity as to whether or not those comments and opinions (expressed in such a shocking way as to sear them into my mind) had any basis in fact drew me back to the site. So, you could say that the very nature of the comments made me return to learn more... when I was ready for the truth (please pardon the expression) I came back.
So, I'd like to thank those of you who don't sugar coat the facts and dance around the sensibilities of the timid. I may not have returned otherwise.

Hi, OFC.
None taken... Faith in any kind of god is hard to hold on to when you've had the JW experience. Some, like you, manage to keep a relationship with god going, others find their own way to maintain sanity... they call it all Bull-pucky and move on.
Not really sure where I stand... some day, I've gotta figure it out.
