That is so true, Purps. Being in a church makes some people let their guard down when it comes to their own safety, including that of their children. There is the attitude that, 'we are in god's house, so what bad can happen here?' Religion is candyland for people who prey on the innocent.

in a local convenience store, the owners have installed an id checker for anyone purchasing alcohol.
they require you to put your id in this machine to determine whether or not you are of legal age.
even if you are 85 years of age, you have to comply or you can't buy a beer!.
I didn't know that about the credit card agreement with merchants either... that's very interesting. Credit card theft is such a big deal here in the US that vendors will still ask to see your drivers licence though. Not so much to verify age in an older person but to be sure that the credit card really belongs to you.

i know a brother that was not scripturally free to remarry to the best of his knowledge, his ex wife was disfellowshipped in another state, his ex wife did not contact him letting him know that he is scripturally free to remarry, but the elders at his congregation knew about it, but they chose to keep it a secret from him for whatever reason???.
he did not know about it after one year after the fact!
he learned about it from a brother from another state.
It should be noted that if two or more credible eyewitnesses can confirm that the mate has stayed all
night in the same house with a person of the opposite sex-(or a known homosexual) under improper circumstances, the elders may put the responsibility upon the innocent mate to decide if this is sufficient basis for him or her to obtain a divorce and marry another.

I didn't see anything though that would say why they couldn't tell the 'innocent' partner that proof had been obtained that the 'non-innocent' partner had done the horizontal limbo. Unless they are going by this statement...
It is the responsibility of the individual to produce convincing evidence to establish Scriptural freedom to remarry.
If so, that is weak at best as a reason to delay releasing someone they know to be free in "God's eyes."
