Not to beat a dead apostahorse, but I hope you reconsider posting the 12 step program. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks I may find a little treasure in what you think is possibly trash.

In any case, I think I'm about done "kicking the puppy", the little break I took mellowed me out a lot. Ok, enough of the mushy stuff, I'm heading off to a cheap chinese joint with little bitty ribs on their poo-poo platter...wonder why there are never any cats around their dumpsters...

Should they "pay" for believing all these years?

i finally started reading ray franz book and was reading the part how he ends up with little to no money, buying a trailer in ms. i thought about my own mother, who sacrificed a lot in the name of the "truth" meaning she only worked part time jobs so that she could pioneer, she didn't accumulate money or buy herself a nice house, she continued to believe and still does that armeggedon is around the corner.. some of these people have literally sacrificed their whole lives.

at this point they may or may not come to the realization that armeggedon isn't coming.

whether they are still waiting for it or not, many of them have gotten old and they may not have paid a lot into social security, they may have a very limited income, may live in trailers or whatever.

Personally I would have to determine if I could even help without hurting myself too much. Maybe you could find some sort of vindication in knowing your mother would know YOU helped her if that is what happened. Some people I think deserve it, but not just because of their beleifs, but like you said, their judgement of others.

I guess it could come down to the kind of person you are, whether you would withhold assistance assuming you can spare whatever the assistance would take from you. There are some I would not help, but when it comes to family, all the rules go out the window. Personally I would like to think I would have some mercy...but that's me.

I can't help but think of the old saying "a bird in the hand..." you know the rest. I only know I have what I can see and touch today. It is very hard to beleive that there is a Purely Good Being (which has been responsible for millions of deaths) and an Evil Being (which was made and is allowed to live and be evil by the Good One), and those two are hanging on every decision I make and grappling over which side I will take in this huge argument that has been going on since forever. You mean at the end of all of this somebody gets to add a tick mark to their roster?

When I look back and think of all the times I thought I was in a state of despair because I had offended Jehovah in some way, I now clearly see that they were ALL due to decisions I had made or allowed others to make for me. Why was I broke? Because I didn't work enough or manage my money properly, it damn sure wasn't because I didn't spend enough time in service or because I listened to AC/DC. In the end I realize I am responsible for my current situations, no matter what they may be. There is no help, there is no Entity that gives two sh*ts about whether I'm eating peanut butter or filet mignon, or whether I'm listening to Kingdom Melodies or Metallica. If they exist and I find I'm wrong later, I'll ask why the hell they weren't paying attention to the damn tsunamis or earthquakes and helping people instead of peeking in on my inconsequential life while I was minding my own business and posting long rants on an apostate board...

ok, there's my 2 cents, gimme my change.

i was sitting in the garden having a beer with my dad this afternoon, it was a beautiful warm spring day, and we chatted away .......it's a good thing, my dad and me haven't always got on.

i think he thinks i'm not the son he held a 3 day party for when i was born, at least i didn't turn out like he'd hoped.

you see he's a mans man.

The only part of it I have left to figure out is the definition of "right" for me.

Taking a little break from JWD

i'm taking a little break to enjoy the real world and catch up on all the work i have let slide since i met all of you bad, bad apostates.

my kids are out for spring break next week and we are going to go hang out with the hippies in asheville, nc as well, so it's going to be a busy two weeks.

i look forward to catching up again in april...especially looking forward to the big post from dave on the 12 step program.

Is it getting warm in here or is it just me?

lately, it seems to be that people are on edge and are forgetting common courtesy in their posts.

people have told me that they were thinking of un-subscribing or at least taking a long break from the board due to people who take their negative opinion of the subject or opinion being discussed, and turn it into a personal attack.. what is happening here?

any idea why this sudden spike in overbearing rude people posting here?

I just demonstrated to myself why I made the observation before. It's not everyone else, it's me. I'm too arguementative these days and I'm totally too quick with the toungue (keys as the case may be).
