my name's erin/froggi, and i've been disfellowshipped for 4 years, since i was 19 years old.
i was raised a jw, and my homelife was actually quite idyllic, typical 50s sitcom stuff, like the cleavers.

Another Newbie :)
by merfi init's hard to know where to begin, so i'll just... begin.. i had my first encounter with jw in high school when my now ex-husband moved into our small town.
(you're doing the math already, aren't ya?
:) ) after finding out he was a jw, i did a little bit of reading into it, which he discouraged... told me that that stuff is "apostate" (i had no idea what that meant) and that he'd give me stuff to read.

You will need to do some research to help your 12yo by the sounds of it.
btw, I absolutely agree with jwfacts on this one... your lil boy will find your move away from the org very difficult to deal with, after all the years of WT indoctrination. It's going to be really important to help him with beating the indoctrination through thorough research that proves as we all know that the FDS aren't who they say they are, and to point out all the contradictions in the teachings and in their lack of love and humanity to those both inside and outside the org. No doubt this process will also help you to cement why you've made the decision you have

So, that is my story. I feel like a butterfly that just came out of the coccoon.
I remember that feeling very well! Like you were really free & seeing the facts for the first time, isn't it just so liberating
))Having said that though, it sounds like you're still got a fair bit of work ahead of yourself. But you're right though you can finally stop believing and being told that you're morally defunct or unworthy of love, because that's a total load of tripe. You sound like a lovely woman with a great deal of insight into yourself, so I've no doubt you will come out of this with great new wings. Don't beat yourself up babe about regrets or any of that jazz, the important thing is that you're at where you are now and moving forward. It's a hell of flippin coaster, but you're off the worst part of it now, and just have to get back your land legs.

Anyone have twins?
by Hawkeye injust wondering if anyone else has twins?
my daughter's are pretty close, but not like they once were.
if i give a compliment to one, the other one feels she needs to bring up something about herself.

not that this helps, but for the record i've got little twin sisters who are 15y/o, but i haven't really known them since they've become teenagers as they're still in the "troof" under my mothers care...
from what I understand though they're very close, and generally switch roles with who's taking the lead. I worry that they're almost too reliant on eachother now that they're growing up. They're even planning the same careers & study options.
I think that the best things siblings do for eachother is to offer up a little competition, prepares you for the real world. I wouldn't worry too much about it though, these things have a way of working themselves out in due course.
All the best with your girls, it's a difficult age for girls in general. frog x

Hello ..Im Mentalist
by mentalist inafter starting a thread yesterday and taking in the various responses i feel i should set the record straight on a couple of things.over the last couple of days aswell as here i have joined jwo and slippys too.im not a troll but im not a board virgin either.these three particular sites have been mentioned to me (not quite recommended)by an ex-witness, so i thought id have a look see for myself.
it feels like i know several characters already very well (having had indepth conversations about them)but im very suprised at the size of the community you have here.i was raised a witness but never baptised.family still all are and in fairness treat me very well as do members of my old congregation when i bump into them.i guess thats enough for now,cant be giving too much away this is the internet after all.
btw..at times i realise i am not the best speller in the world(i struggled all the way through school),but to those people who replied to my thread just to point that out..bite me!your no different than the the type of elder who completely missed the point of how hard it was being a young jw but still took great pleasure in telling you how sports socks were not appropriate attire for the meetings.sheesh.

...you do crack me up though unc, your witt is almost too much at times for my lil froggy bladder hehe...anway mentalist...it's nice to see your personality coming through so early in the peace. don't let all the different folk on here rub you up the wrong way, personality clashes/tall poppy syndrome are a fact of life. I'm sure you'll find the number of people you don't get along with so well will be in the minority...
...as for spelling & grammatical errors, you'll always get that from some folks on the internet, it stands out to me like a sore thumb, but I usually bite my tongue
