Emoticon use...
by jeanniebeanz inhave you noticed that some posters seem to use the emoticon buttons more than others?
i have often wondered if those who use the buttons are normally very animated while talking, and use their arms and hands more than those who don't use the buttons.. if maybe they substituted the use of the emoticons for their inability to flail about with their arms, or make faces like they do in person.. i haven't met any of you in person yet so can't say.
it is true, or just a bad theory?.

Or shucks thanks guys...it's so much nicer to have a birthday thread started for you, rather than having to start your own...I was going to give it a few more hours, so thanks for coming through.
I got $50 from my grandma, which I spent on a deposit for a very expensive green hat (sounds hideous, but it's very groovy:). And tomorrow I'm getting even more presents, YAY! Don't birhdays just make you feel all warm and fuzzy and loved! They're still a novelty for this Frog after all those years of birthday prohibition from the mean partypoopers in the GB. Frogs love BIRTHDAYS!...& pagon celebrations in general hehe! YAYAYAYAYAAYAYAAAY!
THANKYOU again! love from Frog x

144,000 on The Simpsons
by sixsixsixtynine inin last nights episode of the simpsons, homer goes to see the movie "left below", and subsequently becomes obsessed with the rapture.
when they show an equation he's working on to determine when it will come, one of the numbers is 144,000!.
do any other religions besides the witnesses and adventists use that number?

Oh, how very amusing. I'm sure it was an attempt at a p*ss-take on the dubs. I love it when the Simpsons writers do that:)...I especially like that old one where Homer said "if it's the JW's tell them I'm going to put them through the flyscreen"...or something like that hehehaha. I have seen that episode a few times, so when I was staying at my dads and that scene was coming up I made him watch it, I don't think he was terribly impressed lol!
We were learning about being rewarded on cultural competancy in Media studies lecturers this week, I wonder how many non-dubs picked up this reference? Frog x

JWD Awards??
by RichieRich inso, i was thinkin, and got hit with a good idea.
everyone whos been here for more than a week has posters that they love, and posters that they loathe.
some make laugh, some make us cry, and some drive us right up the wall.... so to honor that, i think we should have some sort of jwd award session... (should simon approve).

Where is the safest place to be during a thunderstorm?
by hubert inwe just had the biggest thunderstorm pass over us in many years, and the "epicenter", if you can all it that, was right over my house!!!!!!!!.
any minute, i was expecting to get hit in the a$$ with a bolt of lightning, and lose whatever little hair i have left on my head, or anywhere else, for that matter.
so, i think that the safest place to be, is on the toilet.. that way, when a bolt of lightning hits right outside your bathroom window, you will be in the right place when you shit yourself !!
-
Frog
Don't know if the 'john' is the best place to be during a lightning strike, the porcelain gods not going to earth the bolt, it's more likely to fry your bum when the water gets live! If you're gonna hang out in there, make sure you're wearing thick rubber boots:))

This could get outta hand, how bigs this section gonna be?! Although it sounds fun, and I don't want to be a kill-joy but personally I don't think we should rate posters. Like you said Richie we all have posters that we relate more too, and it's not always the person with the most eloquent prose or the best witt, that strikes a cord with you. I guess what I'm saying is that I'd hate to see the board turn into a popularity contest. It would make JWD then seem too exclusive and clicky for newbies who really need to join in here. Just my 2 Froggy cents! Frog x

what the hell is up with witness girls???
by tsunami_rid3r inhaha, are they desperate for sex or a relationship?
because if it is like that, hell i see something here.
today, when i was out in field service, this chick kept playing with my hair all day, then at the restaurant she was feeling up all over me.

My comments earlier to Tsu were in no way serious, or recommended. I guess I should know by now that the advice Tsu solicits from the forum on matters of the opposite sex is very serious.
Although I have no real regrets, I truly wish I hadn't of put my self through the JW ringer as an adolescent, and instead took good care of myself and made better an more logical decisions. It's easy of course for me to say this in hindsight, since I have the benefit of hindsight and reflection. Seriously though, as a JW kid you're taught to fear Jehovah/elders/parents, but you're never truly taught respect for yourself. A truly wise person weighs up the emotional and physical impacts of their lifes choices. It's healthy of course to be a little reckless when you're that young, but respect for yourself and the emotions of others is far more rewarding in the long-term, and will get you much further in life. Taking advantage of naiive desperate witness girls is not at all the way to go. The emotional torment and trauma you experience when you break the rules is absolute hell to live through. Caring, loving people look out for those in similar circumstances to themself, they don't try to take advantage of the weak for their own personal gain.

JW girls, like any other sex starved teenager are horny as hell. The more you're not allowed to have it, the more you want it...if you're a lucky enough boy, you might just be there at the right time! Ask her out "country witnesses", if you get lucky, call her back for a "return visit" Frog x

Don't do it matey, especially if your hearts not in it. Would be the biggest mistake of your life. I'm sure you really love your GF, but if she really loved you there's no way she would be forcing you to make this unbreakable commmittment. It's one thing to get married, but a whole other kettle of fish to take the plunge and get dunked. Seriously, you're a smart man for having serious doubts about this sect, if you need more affirmation on that front you only need to browse around this site and see the major holes in the JW teaching, not to mention the completely unhumanitarian nature of the GB and their programmed drones. Don't do it mate, it's not right for you. Only you can make the ultimate choice, certainly your GF has absolutely no right to pressure you into it. Besides what would she gain from it?? Sorry to be all fatalistic, but you'd be lucky to last 2 years as a JW before the wheels started to fall of your relationship/spiritual wagon with the feelings you currently have.
All the best and once again...DON'T DO IT!. Take care yourself, Frog x
