  other than the protests of the tree huggers, i can see no reason [outside of current political thinking] for us not to get this resource working to both 'stimulate' our own economy and to short-sheet the arab greed that holds us ransom.. i am no geo-scientist, but this seem unbelievable.. jeff.

  US: Foreign oil is a little over half of total.

  OPEC oil is well under half of total foreign oil.

  someone (a born-again exjw) on youtube asked me why i was an atheist... i crafted a brief response... it follows:.

  1. religious reason: there is no proof for god outside of the bible.

  once i dropped my belief in the bible, the judeo-christian concept of god fell apart like a house of cards.

  Its not a binary on/off decision that is answerable by fact-based research, as the entire concept of 'god is fundamentally unfalsifiable and therefore outwith the bounds of normal decison making The correct question is "where do I believe the balance of probabilities lies?" and 800 buses will 'probably' agree with you...

  Indeed. Many things that we dont believe in are unfalsifiable. That is the mere definition of A-anythingism. You might claim to have a gold sovereign in your pocket. Might you? Yes you might. Would I believe it? Naw the odds are again it.

  a bank that received $1.6 billion in bailout money just spent a fortune last week in l.a. hosting a series of lavish parties and concerts with famous singers ... and tmz cameras caught it all.. .

  northern trust, a chicago-based bank, sponsored the northern trust open at the riviera country club in l.a. we're told northern trust paid millions to sponsor the pga event which ended sunday, but what happenedoffthe golf course is even more shocking.. .

  You are an A-fairyist. Whycomes? The notion of faries is silly. You've never seen one. There is no proof of one. Some books say they exist. Very ancient knowledge propounded them. You cannot disprove them. Yet you are an A-fairyist.

  Exchange the word fairy for "god" if you please. See how silly your belief is?

  Dont know what you mean by that. Are you talking about the Dow Industrial Average? Thats just one of several index of the stock market.

  I wouldn't consider that a crash

  Havent paid much attention over the past few months eh?

  PS: I remember not too long ago when a 140 day drop on the dow would have caused most people to bite their nails.

  with the latest surge of anti-european comments and threads from us anti-progressives on this board, a little bit american self-criticism may be appropriate.. since the eighties, income inequality has been on the rise in american society.

  most economists, however, agree that redistributing wealth is a legitimate role for any modern enlightened government.

  and even alan greenspan labelled us income inequality a "disturbing tend" which could lead to societal instability.

  sucky example

  fire department is local. its made up of people in the community. not a bloated authority that wants to control peoples lives.

  putting out fires isnt to save a persons house or belongings. its to keep the fire from spreading and prevent loss of life.

  let it burn to the ground for all I care. less mess for me to clean up.

  Equality of Circumstance is BS. I was born with bad eyes. I was born to a poor family. I suck at math. People are born of equal worth a humans. They become what they become in a free society from hard work and determination.

  I still have bad eyes. I still suck at math because I didnt try harder than someone else who did not suck at math. I am not poor because I worked hard. I never took a thing from the government. Never will. I dont want them involved in my life.

  Equal in opportunity is important. Equal in circumstance is a great depressor of the human spirit.

  Sorry Im so unprogressive.
