For me, most of the stuff people come up with to prove that Witnesses are full of crap rings hollow. It all sounds like propaganda and point of view.
It's a lot easier to simply prove that all religion is full of hooey and that the Bible itself is full of crap.
Then the Witness thing takes care of itself.

PROVE That Jehovah's Witnesses DON'T Have The Truth
by minimus injws are convinced they alone have the truth.
they are scripturally trained to prove to others why they are "in the truth".
from your vantage point, how can you show this is untrue??

congregational cliques
by chuckyy init was my experience during my 13 yrs as a jw that congregations usually had a social clique.
in other words, there would be a group of people in a congregation that would only associate (and sometimes only go out on field service too) with people within that social clique.
if you were in the clique, fine.

happy camper...
the thing is... the people on the outside of the crowd are all doing EXACTLY those same things trying to get in.
It's no better on the outside, they're all trying to do the same things and suffering the same exact problems you outlined there... only they're completely isolated and have no friends as well. -

watchtower red flags
by Ticker inwhen i was studying and in the org i never did put two and two together becuase first off it was peer pressure and a young baptism age.
i was indoctrinated as a child so i never got a chance to ever use sound reason and judgement toword the validity of the society's claims.
but anywho i was thinking the other day about certain things that are obvious red flags and far fetched claims that the org makes.

I don't agree with him...
But actually so far I'd say JW Ben is winning the argument.
Though I think I wiped out his #2 pretty well. -

2) yes Jehovah does not change. He has had the Bible written for us but dose not speak directly to any human. It is up to us to learn what he has written. Truth never changes, but mans perseption of it does. JW doctrins ( no trinity, hell, imortal soul; paradise earth, only few go to heaven etc) have not changed. Some aspects of their understanding of prophecy have changed nothing wrong with that because they are trying to understand what a prophecy means and how it relates to the world. That why Jesus said we had to dig for undertsanding as we would for Gold. None of the changes they make affect the way we view God, or his purpose for us. Understanding the way a word is used eg "generation" does not chnage the fact that Gods purpose is still on task. It means that they have a broader understanding of the way a word was used and how it could fit into prophecy. The apostles that walked and talked with Jesus missunderstood things that Jesus said. Peter even shot his mouth of over someting that went out to all the belivers at that time, but Jesus never said what Peter thought he said (Read the last chapter of John) yet Peter was still used by Jesus
-----------------------------------------------
What kind of God writes a book that cannot be easily understood by his worshippers? Why would he choose to make it DIFFICULT for his people to understand what he wants? If God is by definition, all powerful, then it should be easy for him to make his purpose and will understood to his people in such a way that anyone and everyone could immediatel understand it and serve him properly. It is the height of stupidity to allow your followers to bumble around making mistakes simply because you didn't bother to explain to them what you wanted to do in a way they could understand easily. -

Like several others mentioned, cliques are a part of human society. JWs have them but this is not a valid criticism of the religion, as you?ll find cliques everywhere.
You're VERy right. They are found everywhere. No more or less at the Kingdom Hall than anywhere else.
HOWEVER it is a valid critiscm because they make a big deal of how LOVE for one another being one of the biggest things that sets them apart from other religions. Remember, that's how you'd know Jesus people? Thus is a valid complaint.
For my part, I've never had many friend. But the hall I grew up in, I had a few, simply by wrote of having lived there my entire life. People had seen me grow up, and I'd grown up with a lot of people my age who had sort of been FORCED to associate with me.
When I moved out on my own, got married, etc. I never made another friend at another hall, and the ones I knew grewing up were never very close friends anyway.
Why? I'm a frickin geek that's why. Out in the REAL world geeks band together with geeks. So even if they're getting the shit kicked out of them by others they at least are getting the shit kicked together. Well, no geeks at the kingdom hall. Geek pursuits are worldly, playing video games, reading comics, watching movies... no no, you should be out in service. The organization only favors socially outgoing people... and if you aren't one of those poeple you're just pushed to the side.
So there I am, the fat, ugly, poor nerd. I can't hang out with the rich brothers and sisters, because I don't have any money and drive a crappy car. The good looking brothers and sisters don't want me because I'm definitely not good looking. The spiritual ones don't want me because I'm not outgoing. I'm painfully shy and thus I dont' run around spouting off about the truth to everyone I bump into.
That's just the way it is. You have to fit a specific category to be a part of the congregation, otherwise you're just expected to be at every meeting, show up in service (where no one will want to go in service with you) and be quiet. You'd think that the social losers would band together to form their own group, but it doesn't work that way since you're supposed to be striving to be one of the social winners. ANd you can't do that by hanging around other losers, now can you? -

For those raised as JWs...
by Country Girl ini have found that while i can remember my childhood from ages 3-5, i can't remember much after that until i was 17 or so.
my mom came into the jws when i was 3, and i remember celebrating our last christmas.
it was a small christmas tree on the end table and it had a present for each of us (2 kids).

One of my worst memories is being caught by my teacher playing some sort of shoot-em-up game with the other kids on the playground in third grade. We'd picked up sticks and were pretending they were guns and shooting back and forth at each other.
When we came in from recess, my teacher, right in front of everyone said loudly "I saw you playing guns outside. Isn't that supposed to be against your religion? If I told your mother about this you'd be in big trouble. You know she wouldn't allow you to play like that. "
God that was humiliating.
Come to think of it, I never really felt like I fit in again at school again after that. It was just 9 grades of beatings, loneliness, and humiliation. -

Shortage of skilled labourers to work at Bethel??
by starfish422 inmy father, age 62, has been called to bethel to help do some work in his particular trade.
he went up yesterday and will be there until friday night, if, as my sister put it, "they let him go.
" she said, "i know, i made the same comment.

Well, its got to be difficult to get skilled labor from your members when you discourage them from getting anything beyond a high school education.

Elders Wives
by Octavia inever wonder how some of those brothers wrote such elloquent talks?
i just found out ( puternut told me) their wives wrote them for them.
that must be why they always clapped so loud for their husbands!

Ironically, it happens. If you are not a total boob before you are made an elder, you become one shortly after. Do I sound a little bitter?
Yes you do sound bitter and it is obscuring logical reasoning in this matter -

JW Tsunami Report - rest of quote worth reading
by Bonnie_Clyde inyou may remember i posted two days ago about a ten-page jw tsunami report that was e-mailed to me.
it consisted of about three separate letters.
since the report was so long, i tried to copy and paste some of the quotes from a word document and only got two out of seven.

You have to remember the mindset... To a witness, the MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WORLD is making someone a witness. It is more important than their life, or health, or anything. So from their standpoint, they are doing the most human thing possible. In other words, they aren't intentionally being cold.
