What does the phrase "born again" mean to you?
I'm curious, because you seem to be advocating a continued relationship-based "Christian" life. Is being "born again" not synonymous?
(That isn't intended to be argumentative. I'm genuinely interested in your perspective).
-------------------------------------
To me, "born again" means religous wacko.
Sorry, you asked! Forgive my bluntness. Just trying to answer honestly.
I'm not advocating anything, much less anything having to do with substituting one flawed version of a flawed religion for another flawed version of the same flawed religion.

My British writer covered it just this week: http://www.cinemablend.com/review.php?id=863
He hated it with a burning passion. -

watchtower red flags
by Ticker inwhen i was studying and in the org i never did put two and two together becuase first off it was peer pressure and a young baptism age.
i was indoctrinated as a child so i never got a chance to ever use sound reason and judgement toword the validity of the society's claims.
but anywho i was thinking the other day about certain things that are obvious red flags and far fetched claims that the org makes.

The thing I would consider is this...
If I honestly and sincerely think that doing something contrary to what the JW organization says I should do is really and truly the will of God, acceptable to him, and pleasing to him... why should I be punished for it? What kind of God punishes people who sincerely believe they are doing what's right in his eyes? Do you punish your child for unintentional ignorance? What kind of God would that be? Not one I'd want to worship.
Yet, in the organization, if through a sincere study of the God's word your understanding of something is sincerely different than that espoused by the organization, you're supposed to bury whatever you think is the HONEST truth and instead blindly accept the word of a human organization. That doesn't seem right. -

No offense taken, but since I first started going to different churches, not one of them has told me what to do or how to do it. Now going to the KH was a different story. Now when I leave a church service I am in a good mood and feel uplifted.
---------------------------------------
Then you left the Witnesses for a different reason than me. I didn't leave because I didn't like being told what to do, I left because I decided religion, and especially that religion was full of hooey. I reasoned on it, examined the facts as they really are, and decided I didn't want to be a part of something that was untrue.
They aren't telling you what to do? Ok, but read the Bible. It's telling you what to do and if they're reading the Bible at all, then they are by extension telling you what to do. They just don't enforce it as well as JWs. Different degrees, same song and dance. -

PROVE That Jehovah's Witnesses DON'T Have The Truth
by minimus injws are convinced they alone have the truth.
they are scripturally trained to prove to others why they are "in the truth".
from your vantage point, how can you show this is untrue??

For me, most of the stuff people come up with to prove that Witnesses are full of crap rings hollow. It all sounds like propaganda and point of view.
It's a lot easier to simply prove that all religion is full of hooey and that the Bible itself is full of crap.
Then the Witness thing takes care of itself. -

congregational cliques
by chuckyy init was my experience during my 13 yrs as a jw that congregations usually had a social clique.
in other words, there would be a group of people in a congregation that would only associate (and sometimes only go out on field service too) with people within that social clique.
if you were in the clique, fine.

happy camper...
the thing is... the people on the outside of the crowd are all doing EXACTLY those same things trying to get in.
It's no better on the outside, they're all trying to do the same things and suffering the same exact problems you outlined there... only they're completely isolated and have no friends as well. -

I don't agree with him...
But actually so far I'd say JW Ben is winning the argument.
Though I think I wiped out his #2 pretty well. -

2) yes Jehovah does not change. He has had the Bible written for us but dose not speak directly to any human. It is up to us to learn what he has written. Truth never changes, but mans perseption of it does. JW doctrins ( no trinity, hell, imortal soul; paradise earth, only few go to heaven etc) have not changed. Some aspects of their understanding of prophecy have changed nothing wrong with that because they are trying to understand what a prophecy means and how it relates to the world. That why Jesus said we had to dig for undertsanding as we would for Gold. None of the changes they make affect the way we view God, or his purpose for us. Understanding the way a word is used eg "generation" does not chnage the fact that Gods purpose is still on task. It means that they have a broader understanding of the way a word was used and how it could fit into prophecy. The apostles that walked and talked with Jesus missunderstood things that Jesus said. Peter even shot his mouth of over someting that went out to all the belivers at that time, but Jesus never said what Peter thought he said (Read the last chapter of John) yet Peter was still used by Jesus
-----------------------------------------------
What kind of God writes a book that cannot be easily understood by his worshippers? Why would he choose to make it DIFFICULT for his people to understand what he wants? If God is by definition, all powerful, then it should be easy for him to make his purpose and will understood to his people in such a way that anyone and everyone could immediatel understand it and serve him properly. It is the height of stupidity to allow your followers to bumble around making mistakes simply because you didn't bother to explain to them what you wanted to do in a way they could understand easily.
