do you know the feeling of looking out of the window at the sky, thinking 'there will be no armageddon, everything is well, i followed my conscience...' ?.
do you know the feeling of just going for a walk, all alone.. and realizing that you are alive and out of it, that there is no god counting your hours and meetings?
that is was all just a bad dream, that you are free now to follow your own moral compass.. it makes you want to laugh and cry at the same time.... do you sometimes look at the faces of total strangers in the streets or on the train, wondering how you could have ever thought that most of them could be murdered any moment by some 'loving' god?
Hi. I am so glad for you that you are already tasting the freedom that release from the total control you've been under provides.
Yes....freedom to be who were always meant to be.....free to discover for yourself everything you want to know and be in this life that is yours.

this is a full on question...i am in contact with someone who is the chairman of an organisation called the national society for children.
he is an ex jw and is keen to be made aware of any child abuse being perpetrated in england at this time.

my son has reached his own conclusions about jw beliefs and has now had the courage to voice his dissapointment to his dad about not recieving even a birthday card from him and of course i have supported him.
i would like to be able to use some effective arguments with my ex about the jw stance on birthdays.

we all know how hard it is to transcend an ingrained belief system.
that is something that many people are not willing or able to do.
at least not quickly or easily, if not at all.

In fact I am grateful that my 12 year association with WTBS came to an end because I slowly came to realise of my own accord that it was time for me to 'stand still' and carry out a super evaluation of 'me' completely void of all and every belief system that I had ever entertained.......the results have been amazing and wonderful through which I have been able to totally disconnect from the Society that controlled my very being.

here in england we are currently celebrating v. e. day which reminds us overwhelmingly of the individual sacrifices too numerous to imagine that prevented our country being taken over by the nazi regime.
as a jw i was told that if i supported any charities such as the poppy day for the veterans and their families, i was actually supporting the whole idea of the war and would therefore be opposing the kingdom.
foolishly, i felt i had no choice but to 'ignore my heart' and its desire to indicate my appreciation to those who sacrificed the ultimate on my behalf.
It sounds like the natural tendancy of the heart is to share what we have and indicate compassion for those whose lives are in need of support.........seems very Christian to me.
I too feel sad about all the times I followed the org instead of my heart but at least we are making amends now.

You are so right Avishai . Perhaps to be more accurate....before entering the Org one does have a reasonably healthy personal conscience that slowly becomes corrupted under threat of eternal damination.

Are there any other personal conscience choices that anyone gave away to the Org. for fear of causing God's displeasure as translated by them?
when you were jws did you bring people into the org (relatives or not)that later on became for you a source of grief eg stole your spouse, shunned you, slandered you, persecuted you after becoming elders etc etc
oooooh yes!
a very young single mum who needed a lot of practical assistance and recieved it from moi......eventually married a minnow who became an elder and when I found myself in need of huge support due to a marital prob....decided to judge and ignore.........it was very painful but I'm fully recovered and full of compassion for her mis-guided perceptions
