Well, there's nothing in the bible about a "select" group. So, there wasn't any.
If your looking for a watchtower answer, then, you can make up anything. Maybe, a select few catholics up until the Protestants turned up, then no more catholics.

who has been the select group throughout history?
by searching99 ini have a question that i'm curious to have feedback on.
if jehovah has always had a group of people that were "his select group" to have his messages relayed, who were these people/relgions between the time of the early christians of bibilical times and the founding of the bible students?

JamieL,
First off, welcome. We haven't conversed before and, thank you for your post. I haven't read any of your previous posts so I am unaware of your history with the JW's.
You mention that you are d/f'd, still attending meetings. And, that you experienced child abuse.
Can I ask, what is the reason for your attending (I'm assuming it's for reinstatement) and was the child abuse within the congregation?
steve
PS, A little background of me, I'm a 3rd generation JW who I suffered child abuse within the congregation. -

When Christians experience the "power of the Christ" ...
by ithinkisee inis this a feeling unique to christians?.
because i felt tremendously at peace when i came to terms with the facts about (what i feel is) the lack of authenticity of the bible and it's status as an inspired book - almost as if the universe was telling me, "just let go.
things are out of your control.

In the last sentence, :
The difference between me and them is I attribute them to we function,
It should say:
" The difference between me and them is I attribute them to THE WAY we function, "
I apologize, but. I can't edit the post because the board doesn't work for people using Mac's.

ITIS, I have those feelings. sometimes emotive or euphoric, an epiphany or an empiricism . It's strong and something I know and feel is real. I become aglow with it. I can live the experience when I understand something profound, or when crazy unconnected events come together to deliver something great.
People experiences this.
It's who we give the credit to that can become "Christian Light".
There are a few Christians here who have experienced these things and have attributed their encounter to something supernatural. Both these posters and myself have had the same chemical reactions in our bodies to create this euphoria.
The difference between me and them is I attribute them to we function, and they attribute them to something beyond our natural world.

What's the next BIG thing?
by nicolaou inhistory is punctuated by events that have a permanence, an effect on the direction we move in.
the 20th century was marked - among other things - by it's world wars and moon landings.
so far in the 21st century we have 9/11 and, i'd say, an explosive leap forward in biological knowledge.. so what's the next big thing?

The next BIG thing will be ink jet printers.
I spent some time with some Japanese engineers and they were explaining to me where this technology is, and where it's going.
Let me explain why. There is a new flat screen TV coming out at the end of this year called SED ( Surface-conduction Electron-emitter Display). The process is similar to conventional CRT displays, in that a stream of electrons whizz through a vacuum and strike phosphorus to make it glow. However, each pixel on the display acts as a separate CRT, with its own electron gun. To create the panel they load up an ink jet printer with various "inks" of circuit board materials and then "print" the board, layer by layer.
The technology is so flexible, and because it works at microscopic levels, in the future you will see construction sites with hugh ink jet printers building houses and offices and bridges as well as a system where for ink they use cultured cells to grow, three dimensionally, human parts.

There is no such thing as Agnosticism. Agnostics do not exist!
by nicolaou inmany here seem to believe that the position of agnosticism is somehow more reasonable than theism or atheism.
nonsense!
it is a misconception to believe that belief or non-belief in the existence of god/s are the two extremes which glare at each other over the fence of agnosticism.

Paralipomenon: Since nobody can concretely prove the existence of a God either for or against... wouldn't that make everyone Agnostic by default?
No. An agnostic leaves the possibility for the existence of God "in their explanation of the universe", an atheist does not.
For example, you cannot rule out that Jehovah posts on this board under a different pseudonym. It's just that it is extremely unlikely. How you perceive this possibility, whether you include it in you assumptions of poster demographic or not, is similar to my definition of an agnostic and an atheist.

My understanding is: if a person leaves room in their perception of the universe for the possibility (not probability) of God then they are agnostic. However, if a person, even knowing the the existence of God cannot be disproved, considers, for all tense and purposes, the universe to be void of God, then they are atheists.

'THE DAWKINS DELUSION' New book responds to Dawkins 'The God Delusion'
by nicolaou inin the wake of richard dawkins bestseller 'the god delusion' (which i and many others here have read) there has been a good deal of rebuttal from the 'faith' community.
now a new book is out published by alister mcgrath, professor of theology at oxford university.
